GDC & Open Compute Project Global Summit Latest Events Scrubbed Due to Coronavirus

Following the ongoing global spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, there has been ongoing pressure on event organizers from both attendees and local groups to curtail or cancel events out of concern of major events rapidly propagating the virus. We’ve already seen major international shows like Mobile World Congress canceled due to these reasons, and now with the novel coronavirus spreading in more western countries as well – including the United States – the spread is now leading to additional, more local events being canceled.

This afternoon the organizers behind the 2020 Game Developers Conference (GDC), as well as the organizers behind the 2020 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit have announced that they have scrubbed their respective events, which were scheduled to take place next month. OCP’s event has been canceled entirely, meanwhile the GDC organizers are officially postponing their event, with hopes of still holding it in the summer.

The latest cancelations come as additional vendors have been pulling out of GDC. Sony and Facebook had previously pulled out last week, and this week has seen Microsoft, Epic Games, Amazon, and Activision all pull out of the show as well. Which would still leave a large show like GDC with a significant content slate, but none the less the giants of the show have a great importance to it.

In lieu of holding their events as planned, both groups are looking at what they can to help their participants still make their respective announcements and hold their talks. The OCP team has told participants that they “would like to work with you on following through with those announcements to the Community, and the industry at large, over the next week.” Meanwhile on top of conducting a summer event, GDC organizers are hoping to distribute talks over their YouTube channel and their content vault, telling attendees that “In order to allow our conference speakers to still participate in the event, we are intending to make many of the presentations that would have been given at GDC 2020 available for free online.” Both groups seem to be flying by the seat of their pants to a certain degree, but hopefully we’ll see their remote presentation plans come to fruition.

These cancelations are among the latest events to get canceled in the technology industry. On top of these large, public events, within AnandTech we’ve seen some smaller, press-only events canceled as well. So while not every last event has been canceled at this time – notably, NVIDIA’s 2020 GPU Technology Conference is still on – it’s increasingly looking like the tech industry is going to be taking a widescale break on events throughout March.

Tony Romo Signs New Contract With CBS Worth More Than $100 Million

CBS made sure they didn't lose their man.

On Friday, the media giant gave NFL analyst Tony Romo a mega extension that will pay him about $17 million annually, according to a report from Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.

Marchand's report says the deal is worth more than $100 million, and sources the deal is longer than five years. This is the the most lucrative deal ever for a sports analyst, according to Marchand.

Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach John Madden was previously the highest-paid NFL analyst ever, earning $8 million annually.

Earlier this week, Marchand reported that ESPN was going to be CBS' "main competition" for Romo, whose three-year deal expired after the 2019 season. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback joined the CBS broadcast booth in 2017, shortly after retiring from football.

Romo replaced Phil Simms (who was moved to The NFL Today) and was paired with Jim Nantz, the lead play-by-play voice for CBS. The duo called Super Bowl LII between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots in Atlanta. They'll also call Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay next year, having switched the broadcast rotation around with NBC.

Related: Patriots Are Betting Favorites To Get Tom Brady Amid Departure Rumors

According to Spotrac.com, the former Pro Bowler made just over $127.422 million in his career, which spanned from 2004 to 2016. After spending his first two seasons as a backup, Romo took over as the starter for Drew Bledsoe during the 2006 campaign.

Romo is widely regarded as one of the best sports analysts today. His humorous personality, detailed analysis and mastery of correctly predicting plays have made him the perfect broadcast partner for Nantz.

$17 million is obviously a lot to pay for an analyst, but CBS is paying billions annually to broadcast an NFL game. Not only that, but NFL ratings have increased over the last two years, so CBS obviously had no issue in paying historic amounts of dollars to keep their top NFL analyst.

Patriots Are Betting Favorites To Get Tom Brady Amid Departure Rumors

On Thursday, reports began to surface that Tom Brady is preparing to leave the New England Patriots.

For starters, ESPN.com reported that the six-time Super Bowl champion and three-time MVP "is currently operating under the belief that he will enter free agency to play somewhere" in 2020.

A source told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald that New England hasn't held contract talks with Brady's group, and the chances of him returning to Foxborough are "not looking good."

Of course, discussions between the NFL and the NFLPA over a new CBA have played a role in the Patriots' decision to not hold contract talks with TB12 yet. If that matter is resolved, they could manage to work out a deal before free agency begins on March 18.

Despite the reports of Brady potentially leaving Foxborough, The Action Network lists the Patriots as a giant betting favorite at -175 to retain the future Hall of Famer.

The Tennessee Titans - who have long been mentioned as a possible suitor for Brady - are a distant second at +380, followed by the Las Vegas Raiders at +500. The Los Angeles Chargers - another team heavily linked to Brady - are listed at +600.

Related: Tony Romo Could Hit Open Market & Become Highest-Paid NFL Analyst

On Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said that Brady's camp has talked to the Colts, Chargers and Raiders in Indianapolis, the site of the NFL combine. Interestingly, Rapoport recently reported that the Colts are the "most likely option" for fellow free agent and perennial Pro Bowler Philip Rivers.

At any rate, there will be no shortage of interested teams in Brady. Even teams that aren't in desperate need of a new quarterback may find themselves pushing hard for his services, because multi-time Super Bowl winners don't hit the market too often.

Brady and the Patriots have enjoyed the greatest stretch run by any NFL franchise in the Super Bowl era, but all good things must come to an end. Their 20-year partnership, for all we know, is only three weeks away from ending. Stay tuned.

Testing a Chinese x86 CPU: A Deep Dive into Zen-based Hygon Dhyana Processors

In 2016, through a series of joint ventures and created companies, AMD licensed the design of its first generation Zen x86 processors to be sold into China. The goal of this was two-fold: China wanted a ‘home grown’ solution for high-performance x86 compute, and AMD at the time needed a cash injection. The outcome of this web of businesses was the Hygon Dhyana range of processors, which ranged from commercial to server use. Due to the Zen 1 design on which it was based, it has been assumed that the performance was in line with Ryzen 1000 and Naples EPYC, and no-one in the west has publicly tested the hardware. Thanks to a collaboration with our friend Wendell Wilson over at YouTube channel Level1Techs, we now have the first full review of the Hygon CPUs.

GlobalFoundries' 22FDX with MRAM is Ready

GlobalFoundries on Thursday said that it had completed development of its 22FDX (22 nm FD-SOI) technology with embedded magnetoresistive non-volatile memory (eMRAM). The technology can be used for a variety of applications, including automotive, industrial-grade MCU, and Internet-of-Things (IOT). Several clients of GlobalFoundries are ready to tape out their first 22FDX chips with eMRAM this year.

eMRAM provides a number of advantages when compared to eFlash (which is widely used today) for chips that need relatively high-capacity onboard storage, including higher performance and endurance, but want it all in a single silicon die. MRAM does not involve electric charges or current flows, instead, it uses magnetic storage elements and relies on reading the magnetic anisotropy (orientation) of two ferromagnetic films separated by a thin barrier. The method does not require an erase cycle before writing data, which means additional performance. Furthermore, MRAM can be produced using modern process technologies and has a very high endurance. The technology has some downsides, which will be eventually addressed by fabrication processes that use ReRAM, but GlobalFoundries and Samsung Foundry see a huge potential in in MRAM for the vast majority of applications.

GlobalFoundries’s says that test chips produced using its 22FDX with eMRAM process technology have demonstrated a 100,000-cycle endurance and a 10-year data retention across the -40°C to 125°C operating temperatures with ECC-off mode. Furthermore, the company’s eMRAM test product can pass standard reliability test, including LTOL (168 hours), HTOL (500 hours), and 5x solder reflows with failure rate < 1 ppm. In addition, GlobalFoundries has addressed concerns about magnetic immunity (of a product that relies on magnetic storage elements). The company says that its test 40 Mb product demonstrated a stand-by magnetic immunity of ~ 600 oersted at 105°C for 10 years (which means no read failures), whereas its active-mode magnetic immunity was ~500 oersted.

GlobalFoundries offers silicon-validated MRAM macros featuring capacities from 4 Mb to 48 Mb that can be used for various designs. At present, the technology has been qualified for AEC-Q100 Grade 2 designs with a -40°C to 105°C temperature range. Next year, the company will offer a version of the process qualified for AEC-Q100 Grade 1 temperatures (-40°C to 125°C).

GlobalFoundries produces chips using its 22FDX technology at its 300-mm Fab 1 in Dresden, Germany. The same production facility will handle production of devices made using the company’s 22FDX with eMRAM.

Mike Hogan, senior vice president and general manager of automotive and industrial multi-market at GlobalFoundries said the following:

“We continue our commitment to differentiate our FDX platform with robust, feature rich solutions that allow our clients to build innovative products for high performance and low power applications. Our differentiated eMRAM, deployed on the industry’s most advanced FDX platform, delivers a unique combination of high performance RF, low power logic and integrated power management in an easy-to-integrate eMRAM solution that enables our clients to deliver a new generation of ultra-low power MCUs and connected IoT applications.”

2011 is Calling: Biostar Relaunches H61 Chipset in 2020

Almost a decade ago, with the launch of Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors, came the H61 chipset. Compared to the high-end P67 and Z68 models, the idea behind H61 is that it was cheap, and it was long-life. At a time when low power embedded Atom CPUs still didn’t have enough power, H61 was there to be equipped with one of Intel’s new-fangled Core processors, with the systems that designed for it destined to last a couple of decades. We’re now 9 years into that life cycle, and Biostar deems it necessary to create a new H61 design for the new decade.

We’re getting to a time now where the cheaply made H61 boards of yesteryear are starting to go pop. When you save a tenth of a cent on capacitors, eventually you get to an age where one doesn’t work and the magic smoke appears. Systems which are built on these have two options: replace the failed component, or upgrade completely. What may surprise some people is that the easiest option is always the first one: replace the broken component. By replacing hardware like-for-like, the system is already set up and ready to go when the new part is installed. If a customer decided to go a different route with a Gemini Lake, sure there might be more performance, but then the signalling standards have changed, the memory has changed, the capabilities of the CPU have changed, etc.

By introducing its new H61 motherboard into the mix, the H61MHV2, Biostar is hoping to capitalize on a decade of experience with newer high performance motherboards, and the ability to play the supply chain for the best deals. As a result of a decade of advancement, elements such as the Ethernet have been updated – up from a 100 Mbps chip to a 1 Gbps chip. DDR3-1600 slots are now in line with the rear IO panel to help airflow, and the socket has changed orientation as well. We should expect to see a few updates perhaps in the BIOS and software as well.

The Biostar H61MHV2 doesn’t quite meet the strict requirements for a mini-ITX board, being one slot longer – presumably for those customers that need the extra PCIe x1 slot. The main PCIe slot is actually PCIe 3.0 x16, but only when a Core i5 or Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor is used. This motherboard supposedly supports all the way up to the Core i7-3770K.

The SATA ports are only SATA 3 Gbps, half the speed of modern SATA connections, and there are no USB 3.0 ports here. Audio is the simplest Realtek ALC662 chip that money can buy, and the same one used by the Biostar IH61MF-Q5, which the company states is what this new board is replacing. Over the IH61MF-Q5, the only spec-sheet difference between the two seems to be the HDMI output, as well as support for Windows 10. In a visual inspection between the two, we can see some of the layout has changed as well.

Users buying this new H61 board, we expect, are just going to be replacing their original $50 designs with something similar. However kudos to anyone building a new system with it. 2011 was the year that William and Kate got married, Steve Jobs passed, and Thailand got flooded so a lot of PC components got more expensive. Hopefully 2020 isn’t a repeat of similar news.

We have asked Biostar’s PR agency for pricing, and will update the article when we get it.

Tony Romo Could Hit Open Market & Become Highest-Paid NFL Analyst

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo just completed his third successful season as an NFL analyst for CBS, working alongside their top play-by-play man in Jim Nantz.

Romo's three-year deal with CBS has expired, and a report from Andrew Marchand of the New York Post says the 39-year-old "could finally hit the open market." A new contract with CBS hasn't been agreed upon, the report from Marchand outlined.

Marchand also stated that ESPN is going to be the "main competition" for Romo's services. Citing sources, Marchand also added that Romo's deal will be worth more than $10 million season.

This would surpass John Madden - the Hall of Fame head coach and EA Sports Madden video game franchise front man -as the highest-paid analyst in history. Madden earned $8 million annually as an NFL television analyst, per Marchand.

Romo, who spent his entire career with the Cowboys from 2003 to 2016, retired after the 2016 season. A fractured collarbone forced him to miss all but four games. A fractured vertebra sidelined Romo for the first 15 games in 2016, and by the time he returned, rookie sensation Dak Prescott had won the starting job.

Whether or not he and Tessitore would stay on, in the event of Romo getting hired, remains to be seen.

He was expected to command plenty of interest on the free agent market, but Romo was content on retiring while stepping right into the broadcast booth. He's excelled in that role, and his grade-A knowledge and humorous personality have made Romo one of the most admired and respected analysts in American sports.

Freddy Peralta Receives $15.5 Million Extension From Brewers

As the Milwaukee Brewers gear up for another run at the World Series, they've managed to get one of their young core players under club control long-term.

The team has given pitcher Freddy Peralta a five-year contract extension worth $15.5 million, according to reports. The deal includes a pair of club options that could increase the value to $30 million.

The 23-year-old Peralta has made 22 starts through his first two MLB seasons, compiling a 13-7 record and an ERA of 5.29. Peralta went 7-3 last season, but he struggled with command as he posted a 5.29 in 85 innings pitched.

But Peralta has shown plenty of promise, and the Brewers front office clearly views him as a pivotal piece of their future. Peralta does have a nice total of 211 career strikeouts in 163.1 total innings pitched.

The Brewers are coming off a season in which they won 89 games and nabbed the second NL wild card spot. However, they fell to the eventual World Series champion Washington Nationals in the one-game playoff, losing a 4-3 heartbreaker after surrendering three runs in the eighth inning.

Related: Milwaukee Brewers Owner Says Team Had Operating Loss In 2019

This came after Milwaukee recorded 96 wins during the 2018 season, advancing all the way to Game 7 of the 2018 NLCS, where they fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Brewers owner Mark Attanasio revealed that the team had an operating loss in 2019, despite placing eighth in league attendance last year. This forced the team to spend conservatively in free agency, and they lost two key players in catcher Yasmani Grandal and Mike Moustakas, who left to sign with the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds, respectively.

But the Brewers have kept the bulk of their core players intact. And while the NL Central rival Cincinnati Reds made some big moves in the offseason, the other divisional foes didn't do a whole lot go get better. As such, Milwaukee is in primary position to win its second division title in three years.

Netfix Rolls Out Daily Top 10 Lists Giving A Rare Peek Into Its Hidden Metrics

Netflix has rolled out a top ten feature in the US giving its users a rare peek behind the curtain when it comes to the service's metrics.

Creators and fans of movies and TV shows have very obvious and clear ways of determining whether something they're a part of has been a success or not. Movies can be judged by how much they make in ticket sales at the box office, while a TV show's success isn't defined monetarily but by its rating aka how many people tuned in to watch.

Those elements have been forced to become less meaningful in recent years due to the emergence of streaming services. Some movies, such as ones created by Netflix, bypass the theaters entirely and debut on a streaming service. Some of the biggest and best TV shows in the world now are also exclusive to streaming services.

RELATED: Netflix's New Speed-Binge Feature Is Facing Some Serious Hollywood Backlash

That means simply measuring how many people are clicking on and thus watching particular movies and TV shows on streaming services then, right? Well, it's not that simple. While respective services will know their own numbers, most of them don't share that information with others. Netflix keeps its viewing figures very close to its chest, which is why the rollout of a brand new feature has taken us somewhat by surprise.

via 9to5Mac

A Netflix top ten. Some of you might have noticed it already. There will be the top ten most-watched movies that day, most-watched TV shows, and also an overall list combining the two reports Deadline. Netflix trialed the feature in the UK and Mexico and has now rolled out the lists in the US too. As with any other category, the lists will appear as rows and where they appear for viewers will be determined by the content of them on any given day.

As well as a spot in the top ten, any titles on the list will have a top ten badge and also an ID in its description revealing exactly where in the top ten it falls. Netflix has had something similar to this for a while in the form of "Popular Now" and "Trending Now" categories. However, its top tens are the first time it has allowed viewers to see which of its movies and TV shows are performing better than others and have the very best definitively ranked.

"Goosebumps" & "Fear Street" Author R.L. Stine Releasing A New Book Series

R.L. Stine, one of the most successful and well-known authors in history, is working on a new series that promises to send more shivers down the spines of his readers.

Best known for the Goosebumps and Fear Street series, Stine is working on a new series inspired by the popular Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

The cards were created by the Topps Company, originally released in 1985. There have been different series of the Garbage Pail Kids released over the years, and it even spawned The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, which was released in 1987.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Stine reached an agreement with Abrams’ Children’s Books, which will see him produce three books. Welcome to Smellville, the first book of Stine's new series, will be released in fall 2020.

Joe Simko, who designed the cover for Welcome to Smellville, took to Twitter to reveal the front of the book. Take a look for yourself.

RELATED: 10 Scariest Goosebumps Monsters, Ranked

Stine's books have reached over 400 million in copy sales worldwide. Some of his series have spawned some timeless television shows -- including Goosebumps and R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour.

Goosebumps produced 74 episodes spread across four different seasons, from 1995 to '98. It was one of the most popular children's shows of the '90s, airing on YTV in Canada and on Fox Kids in the United States. Future Hollywood stars such as Ryan Gosling, Laura Vandervoort and Hayden Christensen made appearances on the show. Adam West and Don Cherry made special guest appearances as well.

The success of Goosebumps also led to two films which starred Jack Black as Stine: Goosebumps (2015) and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018). It included some of Stine's most legendary villains from the book series, including Slappy the Dummy and the werewolf from The Werewolf of Fever Swamp. And hey, if history is any indication, Stine's new book series might inspire a television show and/or various films. Stay tuned.

Seattle's NHL Team Will Spend $7 Million For Monorail Upgrades

Seattle will join the NHL as an expansion franchise for the 2021-22 season, and the organization is already going great lengths to make games accessible for their fans.

The 32nd NHL franchise (name to be determined) shared their plans to present free public transit for those attending games, per NHL.com. The games will be played at KeyArena, which is located in downtown Seattle.

NHL Seattle also announced that they'll spend $7 million to upgrade Westlake Station, which will help fans transport fans from the downtown area to KeyArena in only six minutes.

And for what it's worth, the team said the revealing of their name isn't "imminent at this time." The Seattle Kraken, Seattle Sea Lions, Seattle Emeralds are among the many team name ideas that have floated around.

Seattle's NHL franchise will be play in the Pacific Division, along with the Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and Vegas Golden Knights.

Related: 10 NHL Players With The Highest Career Earnings

The Arizona Coyotes, who play in the Pacific Division, will be moved to the Central Division, which features the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets.

Hockey Hall of Famer Ron Francis, who previously served as general manager for the Carolina Hurricanes, will hold the GM role for Seattle's NHL team. A head coach has not been announced, however, although there won't be any shortage of quality candidates out there.

There will also be an expansion draft in 2021 that will help Seattle make up their franchise. It will be the same format that was used for the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017, where teams have to protect one goalie. They'll have the choice to protect either eight skaters or seven forwards and three blueliners. Players in their entry-level deals are automatically protected, and teams will not be forced to use protection slots on them.

Indian Man 'Breaks' Usain Bolt's 100m World Record, But There Are Two Big Caveats

People are claiming a man in India has broken Usain Bolt's 100m sprint world record, but for two very obvious reasons, we're not so sure.

Usain Bolt might well be one of the most talented athletes to have ever lived, and also one of the most recognizable faces on the planet. The feats Bolt pulled off while competing for Jamaica at the Olympic Games might never be beaten. The most impressive of those feats is the world record he holds in the 100m sprint.

Bolt's record stands at an incredible 9.58 seconds. Many people believe it's a record that will never be beaten. The expectation is that it will at least stand for years, if not decades. Or has it already been beaten? Some in India are claiming a man recently broke Bolt's record reports Metro, but we're not sure the record will be considered an official one by well, anyone at all.

RELATED: Dolphins Coach Brian Flores Doesn't See Tom Brady Coming To Miami

New "record holder" Srinivasa Gowda is a 28-year-old construction worker. No offense to construction workers, but we're already skeptical. In his downtime, Gowda competes in an Indian sport known as Kambala. It requires its competitors to run through a rice field while tied to two buffaloes. The surface of a soaking wet rice field will have provided a disadvantage for Gowda over Bolt, but being dragged by two buffalo will have been a big plus.

via Lad Bible

Kambala races take place over 142m which Gowda and his buffalo managed to cover in 13.42 seconds. Apparently, that means he will have hit the 100m mark in 9.55 seconds, so three-hundredths of a second quicker than Bolt. We're unsure as to whether Kambala officials used math to work that out, or if they measure times at the 100m mark as well as the end of the race.

All told, Bolt almost definitely doesn't have anything to worry about. Even with officials from Guinness present to record another attempt by Gowda, we can't imagine it will count as a 100m record considering the circumstances. The attention the clip has received has resulted in Gowda making a late push to compete at this year's Olympics, though. With only a few months left to train, that chance might have come a little too late.

Ben Affleck Reveals Another Key Reason For Leaving Batman Franchise

Ben Affleck decided to relinquish the cape and the cowl after portraying Batman in a pair of Zack Snyder directed films.

Affleck first suited up as the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), starring alongside Henry Cavill. He reprised his role in Justice League (2017), before stepping down from the iconic movie role.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Affleck explained that his failing marriage and his struggles with alcohol played factors in his decision to step down from the franchise. But that wasn't it.

Affleck was interviewed by CinemaBlend, and the 47-year-old actor offered more insight in his choice to hand down the role. As it turns out, Affleck simply didn't have the drive to keep on going with another blockbuster superhero film.

"You know big blockbusters are cool and they’re great," Affleck explained. "But they’re not that fun to make, just on a very practical level, because they’re very long, they’re very compartmentalized, you’re doing one tiny piece at a time. Often times, you’re just feeling like you’re moving your foot a quarter of an inch."

"They’re hard to continue to motivate yourself, and find your passion. I stepped away from The Batman movie, because I felt like it should be made by someone whose lifelong passion it was, you know what I mean? And if that wasn’t me, then I wasn’t the right guy."

Affleck deserves credit for doing what was best for him from both personal and career standing points. If the desire wasn't there to continue working on a lucrative franchise, then he did the right thing by passing it on over to Reeves and Pattinson.

Related: Batsuit For Robert Pattinson In "The Batman" Revealed [Video]

Twilight star Robert Pattinson was cast as Affleck's replacement, while Matt Reeves was handed over directing duties for The Batman, which is slated for a 2021 release. Pattinson will be the sixth actor to portray the Dark Knight in a live theatrical film, and already the third in the 21st century.

The last two Batman films received largely negative reviews, so the pressure is on Reeves and Warner Bros. to deliver something big. Reeves is certainly headed on the right track after quickly piecing together a star-studded staff that should help the franchise rebuild almost immediately.

Aside from Pattinson, The Batman cast also includes Zoƫ Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (Riddler), Colin Farrell (Penguin), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), John Turturro (Carmine Falcon) and Peter Sarsgaard (Gil Colson).

Dolphins Coach Brian Flores Doesn't See Tom Brady Coming To Miami

NFL free agency is just three weeks away, and the idea of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suiting up elsewhere doesn't seem so crazy right now.

Brady signed an extension with the Patriots in 2019, but it was set up in a way that allows him to hit free agency in 2020. And so far, he and head coach Bill Belichick haven't offered many hints about TB12's future in Foxborough.

The AFC East rival Miami Dolphins have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Brady, if he opts to play for another team.

Several weeks after Dolphins owner Stephen Ross ruled out the idea of Brady coming to the Patriots, head coach Brian Flores concurred with his boss and explained why South Beach isn't a possibility.

"I agree with Steve as far as, ‘Why would he want to come to Miami?'" Flores said, via Zack Cox of NESN. "I do. I’ll leave it at that. I do agree with Steve."

There are several factors in Miami that could draw Brady's interest. There would be familiarity with Flores, who worked with the Patriots from 2004 to 2018. He was on the staff for New England's four most recent Super Bowl championships, so Flores knows what it takes to build a winner.

Related: Don Martindale Signs New Deal To Become NFL's Highest-Paid DC

The warm weather would be a nice change for Brady, too, after spending these past two decades in the freezing New England climate. And of course, the no-state tax in Florida means Miami could easily offer Brady more money than most other teams.

But the Dolphins traded away the bulk of their core players before and during the 2019 season, and they aren't anywhere close to competing for Super Bowls. With the fifth overall pick in this year's draft, Miami figures to come away with a new franchise signal-caller -- likely Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert.

And if Ross and Flores admit that the Dolphins don't make sense for Brady, well, you can easily rule them out as a possible destination. The Patriots are still unquestionably the front-runners, but the Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers all have plenty of offer, should Brady decide to leave New England.
