How To Watch Tonight's Parks & Rec Reunion Special

Parks & Recreation returns tonight for a one-off reunion episode. Here's everything you need to know about the special and how to watch it.

There aren't many TV shows that have known when to call it a day at the perfect time. The temptation of shooting new seasons once a show is at its peak can be all too tempting. So many have fallen foul of trying to squeeze out one or two more seasons and ended on a sour note. Or, even worse, gone with the dreaded leap into the future for its final season.

Scrubs, The Office, How I Met Your Mother. Arguments claiming those shows should have come to an end long before they actually did can most certainly be made. When it comes to Parks & Recreation, that argument might be harder to make. It did make that leap into the future, but not very far, and many fans of the show were indeed clamoring for more when it came to an end.

via Cult of Mac

Five years later, and those Parks & Rec fans who wanted an extra dose of their favorite show are actually going to get one. The cast is reuniting for a one-off special to raise money for Feeding America's Covid-19 Response Fund. Although details have been kept close to the chest, TechRadar reports that the special has been taped remotely.

It will feature Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) checking in on her friends in Pawnee from wherever she has made it to in her burgeoning political career. Those friends will reportedly include Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott, and Rob Lowe. NBC has also teased that others from Parks & Rec history will be making cameo appearances.

Which brings us to the most important detail of all: how and when fans of the show can watch the special. The best place to go will be NBC where the special will air at 8:30 pm on Thursday, April 30, 2020. People in select areas of the US can take advantage of Sling TVs happy hour and watch the show for free if it offers NBC where you are. As for international Parks & Rec fans, unfortunately, the special is only airing in the US for now.

MLB Allowing All 30 Teams To Issue Fans Ticket Refunds For Games Not Played

While Major League Baseball continues to explore different ways to begin the 2020 season, the league has given teams the green light to proceed with ticket refunds however they wish.

Per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com, MLB "is allowing teams to offer refunds to fans for games currently not being played" during the COVID-19 pandemic. Refunds are not mandatory, and as Rogers noted, many teams will "likely" propose credit for the 2021 season instead.

Rogers' report also pointed out that the unplayed games considered to be postponed instead of canceled. As time continues to pass, the league will likely have to accept a shortened regular season, if they even get the thumbs up to play in 2020.

The Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals have already shared ticket refund policies. Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins ticket holders will receive credits for 2020 or 2021 games.

The regular season was slated to begin on March 26, with all 30 teams in action. The league had no choice but to postpone the start of the season. The 2019-20 NBA and NHL seasons are currently on pause as well.

RELATED: NBA, NHL & MLB May Lose $1 Billion In Ad Spending Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported Tuesday that some MLB officials are "cautiously optimistic" about beginning the season at the end of June. MLB is also looking at a three-division realignment for the 2020 campaign.

Earlier this month, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reported that MLB and MLBPA were looking at a plan to begin the season in May. The idea would be for the 30 teams to play their games in the Phoenix area, with various facilities and spring training venues available. This plan would see the teams follow strict traveling and safety measures.

The 2020 MLB regular season was scheduled to conclude on Sept. 27, with the World Series ending by Oct. 28 (the date of a potential Game 7). There is a good chance that the postseason will have to be extended into November if MLB manages to play out the 2020 campaign.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Is Forgoing His Salary

All major sporting leagues across North America are on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, and countless executives and staff members are either forgoing their salaries or taking paycuts.

You can add NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to that list.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Goodell decided to forego his salary, which went into affect earlier in April.

Goodell, who has served as the NFL commissioner since 2006, is in the midst of a deal that reportedly pays him around $40 million annually. He signed a $200 million extension back in 2017.

The NFL had to implement drastic changes to its offseason plans. This year's draft -  initially scheduled to take place in Paradise, Nevada - was done in a "virtual" format. Goodell announced all of the draft selections from his home in Bronxville, NEw York.

Two weeks ago, the NFL and NFLPA reached an agreement on a virtual offseason program, with all team facilities currently closed. The league was planning to release the 2020 season schedule on May 9, but that might end up getting delayed.

RELATED: 2020 NFL Draft Set A Record With 55 Million Viewers

The NFL hasn't made any final decisions in regards to the the start to the 2020 regular season. Right now, it's hard to imagine that that fans will be allowed in stadiums by September.

The 2019-20 NHL and NBA seasons are currently on pause, and both leagues continue to monitor the situation. Neither league has given any hints on when they'll make a final decision. The 2020 MLB season was set to begin on March 26, but that has since been delayed. The league is still looking at several options in hopes of salvaging a 100-plus game campaign plus the postseason.

Right now, the 2020 NFL season is scheduled to take place on Thurs, Sept. 2020. League tradition would see the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Kickoff Game, though the league hasn't confirmed this. Current plans call for Super Bowl LV to take place on Feb. in Tampa Bay, although that could very well change.

Netflix Numbers Reveal 64 Million Of Us Have Watched Tiger King

Tiger King has been the unmitigated streaming hit of this global pandemic and has apparently been watched by around 64 million people.

Just as governments around the world told people that they would need to stay at home to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Tiger King hit Netflix. For the documentary's creators and those of us who have enjoyed it, the timing couldn't have been any better. It had a worldwide captive audience and the numbers attached to Tiger King show that has really paid off.

According to Netflix's latest numbers, 64 million of its subscribers "chose to watch" Tiger King since its release. There's a reason for that very specific and slightly strange phrasing. Netflix recently changed the way it determines if a show or movie has been "watched". Previously, a viewing would only be counted if 70% of the movie or show had been watched.

RELATED: Before There Was The Tiger King, There Was New York City's Tiger Man

via PBS

Now, Netflix counts anything that has been clicked on and left to play for two minutes or longer. In Netflix's eyes, that means it wasn't merely clicked on by accident, or if a viewer thought it was something else, they should have figured out it wasn't what they were looking for before making it two minutes in. So 64 million people have clicked on Tiger King and watched it for at least two minutes.

The problem with using Netflix's new "chose to watch" method of determining Tiger King's popularity is it can't be compared to other shows and movies from the past. What we do know is it hasn't yet caught up with Netflix's most popular show ever, The Witcher. 76 million users chose to watch The Witcher. 6 Underground and Spenser Confidential have also registered higher numbers than Tiger King.

The wild docuseries remains in Netflix's top ten, however, so chances are its final number will rest somewhere quite a bit north of 64 million. It is no longer in the number one spot, though, a position it occupied for an impressive 25 consecutive days. Certain stars from the show have revealed that there was so much stuff left out of the doc, that there could easily be a season two. Just imagine the numbers that would do.

The Best Order To Rewatch The Star Wars Movies Before Rise Of Skywalker Hits Disney+

Most Star Wars movies might be numbered, but watching them in order isn't necessarily as simple as starting with I and ending with IX.

Disney revealed this week that on May 4, 2020, (Star Wars Day) Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit Disney+. That's a full two months ahead of when it planned to release the ninth chapter in the mainstream Star Wars saga on the streaming platform. A gift to the many of us stuck inside with very little to do right now.

RELATED: Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Is Coming To Disney+ Two Months Early

That leaves anyone who hasn't seen all of the other movies yet or wants to watch them all again, with less than a week to do so before Rise of Skywalker hits Disney+. If you are one of the people planning to do that, it begs the question, what's the right order in which to watch them? There are a few conflicting schools of thought when it comes to that.

via SuperBroMovies

The most obvious is the way Disney+ has the Star Wars movies arranged, in order of their respective episode numbers. While that's all well and good, some of the franchise's installments don't have numbers. Anyone choosing this method should watch Solo and then Rogue One between Episode III and IV. Other than that, the roman numerals should guide the way.

Some fans think watching the movies in that order isn't what George Lucas intended, though. It's not the order in which he released the movies after all. For fans who want to watch the movies in release order, this is the way they'll need to do it. Episodes IV, V, and VI first. Then episode I, II, and III. The final stretch is the key one. Episode VII, followed by Rogue One, then VIII, up next is Solo, and finally, Rise of Skywalker when it hits Disney+ on May 4.

There are even more extreme ways in which to watch everything Star Wars has to offer for the completist fan, of course. If you really have the time, which many of us do right now, there are Star Wars TV shows to sneak in as well. Rebels takes place between Solo and Rogue One, The Mandalorian happens after Episode VI, and then Resistance after that but before Episode VII. Well, what are you still doing here? Best get that Star Wars marathon underway.

Sponsored Post: On April 30, Gigabyte is Making an Announcement - And it’s a Big One

On April 30 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST, Gigabyte is planning to stream a special event known as AORUS Direct on its YouTube. Nobody knows *what* specifically will be revealed just yet, but it looks like it’s going to be something big.

During AORUS Direct, Gigabyte is likely going to reveal some new top-notch motherboards that could hit the market soon. Though Gigabyte manufactures laptop devices and custom graphics cards, its production of motherboards is what the company is best known for. April 30, the company might just show off brand-new ones.

This could be exciting news for PC gamers. As the backbone of a computer, motherboards are one of the most important parts in any rig. And as the market for motherboards has become increasingly varied in recent years, as one of the largest motherboard manufacturers Gigabyte has been able to use its size to deliver a wide range of boards. These days motherboards don’t just vary in size – from towering EATX boards to tiny mini-ITX builds – but also ever-expanding feature sets such as USB Type-C ports, M.2 slots, Wi-Fi, and even RGB lighting controls.

As well, overclocking continues to remain popular, with performance-focused boards getting extra cooling and support for higher RAM speeds in order to maximize their performance potential. Based on what they’ve accomplished so far, whatever Gigabyte has to offer with a new line of motherboards should be pretty interesting to see.

Make sure to save the date and time so you can catch the AORUS Direct stream. If some fantastic motherboards are announced, you won’t want to miss it. If you can’t make it, don’t worry — a post-stream recap highlighting everything you need to know will also be available.

Khronos Announces OpenCL 3.0: Hitting the Reset Button on Compute Frameworks

Today something is happening for which I’m not sure there’s any parallel for in the computing industry – and certainly, there’s never been anything like it in the GPU computing ecosystem. Khronos, the consortium behind standards such as Vulkan, OpenCL, and OpenGL, is revealing OpenCL 3.0, the latest version of their GPU and parallel compute API. And, looking to reset the ecosystem, the group is turning back the clock on OpenCL, essentially reverting the core API back to OpenCL 1.2.

As a result, everything developed as part of OpenCL 2.x over the last 9 years has now become optional: vendors can (and generally will) continue to support those features, but those features are no longer required for compliance with the core specification. Instead of having to support every OpenCL feature – no matter how useful or useless it might be for a given platform – the future of the API is going to be around vendors choosing which optional features they’d like to support on top of the core, OpenCL 1.2-derrived specification. It's a very Vulkan-like design philosophy, but it's a major change in course for the industry's biggest cross-vendor and cross-platform compute framework.

Taysom Hill Receives Two-Year, $21 Million Extension From Saints

With the 2020 NFL draft over, the New Orleans Saints quickly went to work in addressing their long-term plans at quarterback.

According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Saints have signed backup quarterback and versatile offensive weapon Taysom Hill to a two-year extension worth $21 million.

Head coach Sean Payton has used the BYU product all over the field during his young NFL career. Hill completed three passes for 55 yards during the 2019 regular season. On top of that, he had 156 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to go along with 19 receptions for 234 yards and six receiving touchdowns.

Starting quarterback Drew Brees signed a two-year extension worth $50 million, but the future Hall of Famer has been taking it one year at a time. The Saints are seemingly planning for Hill to take over the reigns once Brees retires.

Brees and the Saints won their third straight NFC South division crown in 2019, but they were upset by the Minnesota Vikings in overtime of the Wild Card Round. In 2018, they fell to the Los Angeles Rams in overtime of the NFC Championship Game.

RELATED: First Round Of 2020 NFL Draft Reaches Record 15.6 Million Viewers

Robinson also reported that Saints are "finalizing a one-year deal" with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who led the NFL in passing yards during the 2020 season.

There is no shortage of quarterback depth in New Orleans now, and as Brees prepares to enter his age-41 season, the Saints could very well decide to use lots of Hill and/or Winston. This would help keep Brees fresh and healthy as he tries to bring home one more Super Bowl to New Orleans before he retires.

Hill still hasn't started any NFL games, and Winston might only spend the one season in New Orleans. But it doesn't hurt to have valuable quarterback insurace, And, it looks like the team has its Brees succession plan in place.

First Round Of 2020 NFL Draft Reaches Record 15.6 Million Viewers

The 2020 NFL draft didn't take place in Paradise, Nevada as initially planned, but that didn't stop a record number in viewership.

On Friday, the NFL announced that over 15.6 million people tuned in to watch the first round of Thursday's draft, via ESPN.com. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been announcing the picks from his home through the ESPN broadcast.

This smashed the record of 12.4 million viewers for the 2014 draft, per ESPN.com, who also noted that Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati in Ohio had the three biggest rated markets. That was obviously thanks to Joe Burrow, whom the Bengals drafted with the first overall selection.

The NFL had to change up its draft plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The league has gone great lengths to try and enhance the television product - including the streaming of fans for every draft pick. Goodell has even encouraged the fans to maintain the tradition of booing him.

The ESPN broadcast has also showed live video streams of the players and their families, head coaches, general managers and other team personnel before, during and after the selections.

Though Paradise wasn't able to hold the 2020 draft as initially planned, Goodell announced that Las Vegas will host the event in 2022. Next year's draft is scheduled to take place in Cleveland.

RELATED: Tom Brady Visits Wrong Home In Tampa Bay, Breaks Florida's Stay-At-Home Orders

The 2020 NFL draft has been widely regarded as one of the deepest and most skilled in recent memory. While quarterbacks Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert commanded lots of the attention, No. 2 overall pick Chase Young (to Washingotn) has been labeled as a generational talent.

Aside from Young and the quarterbacks, this class is extremely deep in offensive tackles and wide receivers. There were a handful of draft shockers too, with the Green Bay Packers drafting Utah State quarterback Jordan Love despite owning a world-class quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

All in all, the NFL couldn't have put on a match better television product for the fans, and it showed with a record setting audience.

NVIDIA's GTC 2020 Keynote Is Back On: To Be Broadcast on May 14th

After becoming the victim of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus not once but twice, NVIDIA’s GTC 2020 keynote address has finally been rescheduled. The virtual keynote is now set to be broadcast on YouTube on May 14th, at 6am Pacific (13:00 UTC).

One of the many technology trade shows impacted by the now global pandemic, NVIDIA resorted to breaking up their annual GPU Technology Conference into multiple pieces. A number of presentations and sessions originally scheduled to be given at the show have instead been moved online as part of NVIDIA’s digital GTC 2020 conference. Meanwhile the show-defining keynote speech, as always to be delivered by CEO Jensen Huang, was previously rescheduled as a digital event for March before being postponed entirely.

And while NVIDIA isn’t saying much new about the contents of the keynote itself, it’s still expected to be one of NVIDIA’s most important presentations of the last few years. In particular, this year’s keynote is widely anticipated to include the announcement of a next-generation compute GPU architecture.

NVIDIA's current Volta architecture-based GV100 GPU is now a few years old, and supercomputer planning announcements have tipped the fact that NVIDIA will have a new Tesla accelerator ready later this year. The current generation of Tesla accelerators have been a huge success story for NVIDIA, so there's a great deal of interest in seeing how NVIDIA will keep up that momentum, especially in the face of stiff competition from all directions, from FPGA suppliers to Intel's Xe GPU family.

Intel: Tiger Lake Client CPUs Coming Mid-Year

Along with detailing the nuts and the bolts of their Q1 2020 earnings, as part of Intel’s financial presentation, the company also offered a quick update on their upcoming Tiger Lake client CPUs. In short, the company is now preparing for volume production of the chips, and expects to being shipping them to OEMs mid-year.

Intel first unveiled Tiger Lake back at CES 2020 early this year, where the company briefly detailed the architecture while showing off a device using a prototype chip. Tiger Lake will be based on Intel’s latest Core CPU architecture, and will also be the first CPU from the company to integrate an iGPU based on their new Xe-LP graphics architecture. The chips will be based on a newer version of Intel’s 10nm manufacturing process than what’s used in the current ice Lake chips, which Intel is calling their 10+ process. At the time, Intel was promising that Tiger Lake devices would show up by the holidays, a similar time frame as 2019’s Ice Lake launch.

All told then, Intel’s most recent update is right in-line with their previous promises. With Tiger Lake being another mobile-first launch, OEMs need to receive chips well in advance of when consumer products will reach the store shelves, both to give OEMs the necessary time to finalize their designs, as well as to build up a suitable stockpile of devices for a proper retail launch. So, as it always needs to be said when talking about Intel’s timelines for manufacturing, while Tiger Lake chips will be shipping mid-year, we’re not currently expecting devices any sooner than what Intel has previously discussed.

Finally, if everything goes according to plan or Intel, it looks like the Tiger Lake launch should be a higher volume affair than Ice Lake’s. Cognizant of Ice Lake’s slow ramp-up and launch in 2019, Intel is telling investors that they are holding twice as many Tiger Lake CPUs in reserve as compared to Ice Lake. The company does need to master its updated 10+ process to get there, but with any luck, Intel’s 4+ years of playing with 10nm may finally pay some better dividends as they bring up their latest process.
