Scrubs, The Office, And Other Shows Remove Or Edit Episodes Featuring Blackface

A number of shows have had episodes edited or removed from certain services due to them featuring depictions of blackface.

The Black Lives Matter movement might be about issues much more important than archived episodes of sitcoms, but that doesn't mean they should be ignored. In terms of Hollywood and the movie and TV industry, the BLM movement is looking to tackle and eliminate its institutionalized racism. Part of that includes the casual use of blackface in numerous TV shows dating back decades.

For the past few years, many of us will have watched these episodes on TV and streaming services and probably felt uncomfortable doing so. Those involved in the scenes and the shows in question, or those in charge of where the episodes are shown in the present day, have been taking action to make sure those uncomfortable scenes are never shown again.

RELATED: ‘The Simpsons’ & ‘Family Guy’ Will No Longer Use White Actors For Non-White Roles

The list of shows to either remove episodes containing depictions of blackface or edit the shots or scenes out of those episodes grows larger each day. So far, some of the shows to have had episodes or scenes removed from streaming services and TV scheduled rotation include Scrubs, The Office, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Community, 30 Rock, and Peep Show, among others.

via Collider

In some cases, such as Always Sunny, the writers and stars of the show have not reacted to the removal of episodes at the time of typing this. However, the stars of Scrubs, including its creator Bill Lawrence, recorded and aired a podcast this week explaining the decision behind taking three of the show's episodes out of circulation. Lawrence explained that the existence of the episodes upset him, and it was an easy decision for him when it came to asking those currently airing the episodes to pull them from circulation.

Lawrence also revealed on the podcast that fans have reached out asking why he didn't just edit the episodes rather than banish them to TV's underbelly for the rest of time. He revealed that once the pandemic is over and he has access to the appropriate editing equipment, he will likely do that. The one episode of The Office which features blackface has also been edited rather than the whole episode taken away.

AMC Delays Reopening Of Theaters Due To Spike In COVID-19 Cases

AMC Theatres, the world’s largest movie theater chain, has decided to delay its reopening by two weeks. Recently, Tenet and Mulan decided to postpone their release dates until August. The decision to postpone the reopening of cinemas until the end of July comes in light of recent surges across the country in COVID-19 cases.

AMC had originally expected to reopen most of its locations — 450 theaters — on July 15, followed by 150 locations on July 24. Now, AMC will reopen 450 cinemas on July 30, and then the rest soon after. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cinemark Theatres and Regal Cinemas will also open shortly after.

“We continue to devote extraordinary resources into our plan to operate our theater with a hyper commitment to the safety and health of our guests and associates, notably in the United States through our new AMC Safe & Clean initiative,” AMC CEO Adam Aron said in a statement.

Aron added that the company’s general managers have begun working full time again to prepare the theaters for the reopening, which will coincide with the new release dates for Tenet and Mulan in August. In addition, Unhinged is expected to premiere on July 31 and The Broken Hearts Gallery is scheduled to arrive on August 7.

Once the United States begins reopening its theaters, AMC will open its locations in the 15 countries where it operates, including in Europe and the Middle East. AMC anticipates that its nearly 1,000 global locations will be up and running by early August.

Tenet, a sci-fi thriller from Christopher Nolan, is scheduled to premiere on August 12, while Mulan, a live-action remake of the Disney blockbuster, will debut on August 21. Studios are also banking on Russell Crowe’s thriller Unhinged on July 31 and Sony’s rom-com The Broken Hearts Gallery on August 7 to bring moviegoers back into the theaters.

AMC will implement new safety and cleaning procedures and will require ticket-buyers to wear masks in the theater. The company received criticism when CEO Adam Aron said patrons would not be forced to wear masks in states where they weren’t legally required to do so. He later rectified his position. “We continue to devote extraordinary resources into our plan to operate our theatres with a hyper commitment to the safety and health of our guests and associates,” Aron said in a statement.

Ryan Reynolds Crashes Hugh Jackman's X-Men Reunion

Hugh Jackman held a reunion on Zoom for the stars of the original X-Men movie, and somehow, Ryan Reynolds managed to crash the party.

With most of the world stuck at home for the past three months, just like a lot of the rest of us, actors have found themselves with not a lot to do. No movies are being released in theaters right now which means nothing to promote. Plus, sets around the world have been shut down until it's safe for them to reopen and for production to resume.

That has prompted a lot of actors to spend their free time reuniting with co-stars from the past for the entertainment of their fans. Parks and Rec did it, The Office has done it, and now a few members from the very first X-Men movie have jumped on the bandwagon too. Patrick Stewart and co. decided to go in a slightly different direction with it, though.

RELATED: Ryan Reynolds Confirms Deadpool 3 Is In The Works

The short Zoom call featured stars from various X-Men timelines and was more of a sketch than a nostalgic reunion. It begins with Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and Famke Janssen reminiscing over the very first X-Men movie, which is now 20 years old. The call is then crashed by Ryan Reynolds, who played a poorly-received version of Deadpool in X-Men: Origins.

Reynolds then really messes with the timelines by inviting Sophie Turner and James McAvoy into the call. That prompts our favorite line of the call when Janssen asks "what's happening?" and Reynolds responds, "it's just like the X-Men movies, it doesn't matter." The awkwardness brought about by Reynolds' intrusion leads to everyone else leaving the call, citing that they have different reunion calls to get to, including James Bond and Star Trek-themed Zooms.

It eventually leaves Jackman and Reynolds alone together, which prompts the latter to switch up the direction of the call. The Deadpool star suggests that since it's only him and Jackman left, they make it an X-Men: Origins reunion. At that point, Liev Schreiber, who played Sabretooth in the spinoff, joins the call, to which Jackman reacts with an exasperated look. Did the Aussie not have a Greatest Showman reunion he could have used as an excuse to duck out like the rest of the cast?

DC Movies Will Not Be Leaving HBO Max On July 1 After All

HBO Max has backtracked and revealed that the bulk of its DC catalog will not be leaving the service on July 1 as was originally planned.

HBO waded into what is already a busy arena a little more than a month ago when it launched HBO Max. Considering the stranglehold Netflix has on the video streaming industry, and the back catalog Disney has to choose from for Disney+, it was a bold move from the company. However, on top of its own original content, it managed to land a handful of big names that should tempt in a lot of subscribers.

Perhaps the biggest fish of all HBO managed to net was DC. DC's extensive movie library was used prominently during HBO Max's ad campaign, and chances are the likes of Wonder Woman and Batman won them a lot of customers. However, shortly after launch, HBO revealed the DC movies its subscribers were busy enjoying would not be around for long.

RELATED: [Report] New Batman Video Game To Be Revealed At DC FanDome Event

via The Streamable

When asked why some of DC's biggest movies would be leaving the platform after a little more than a month, HBO explained that they wouldn't be gone forever. That it, in fact, has other DC content not yet available and will rotate that in to replace some of the movies it will rotate out. The plan was for that to happen on July 1, and then again on August 1.

Well, it seems as if backlash to that odd idea was fierce enough that HBO has backtracked in a major way. Not only will the majority of the movies it planned to remove on July 1 be sticking around, but they will also officially be going nowhere until at least the end of 2020. Plus, the movies that were going to be rotated in on July 1 will still be added to the service.

It's not all good news. Although a lot of the DC movies on offer will now remain, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Catwoman, Jonah Hex, and The Losers don't appear to be sticking around. Come midnight on June 30, so today for those reading on the day this article was published, those movies will disappear from HBO Max indefinitely. For those reading this after June 30, you'll have to wait for the movies above to come back around, if they ever do.

New England Patriots' Super Bowl Odds Increase After Signing Cam Newton

It came three months after free agency opened, but the New England Patriots managed to make one of the biggest moves of the 2020 offseason on Sunday by signing Cam Newton to a one-year deal.

When Newton became a free agent, many believed the Patriots were an ideal landing spot following Tom Brady's departure. The latter signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.

After losing Brady and several other key contributors (including Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins in free agency plus Duron Harmon via trade), many began to write off the Patriots for 2020 - believing this to be a rebuilding phase.

But after signing Newton, the Patriots' 2020 Super Bowl odds increased drastically. PointsBet (h/t The Action Network) previously listed them as a 25-1 favorite to win it all in 2020, but those odds have now moved up to 20-1.

According to BetOnline (h/t Devon Clements of Sports Illustrated), the Patriots Super Bowl odds went from 28/1 to 25/1 following the addition of Newton. Not only that, but they now share the same 13/10 odds with the Buffalo Bills to win the AFC East.

RELATED: [Report] Patrick Mahomes' Next Contract Will "Shatter Records"

The 2015 league MVP was released by the Carolina Panthers in the offseason; a Lisfranc injury caused him to miss the final 14 games of the 2019 campaign.Newton was also hampered by an injury in his right throwing shoulder during the 2017 season. The Panthers decided to move on from the franchise legend, and they made Teddy Bridgewater their starter by signing him to a three-year, $63 million contract.

Now, Newton will challenge second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham for the starting duties. 2020 will mark the first season without Brady as the Week 1 starter since 2001, when Drew Bledsoe held the reigns before an injury opened the door for Brady to take over.

The Panthers surprised many fans and pundits when they released the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback. Now, Newton gets the chance with a team that's known for helping veteran players bounce back.

Trailer For Aretha Franklin Biopic Starring Jennifer Hudson Released

On Sunday, MGM released a teaser trailer for Respect, its upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic starring Jennifer Hudson. The film explores the Queen of Soul’s life from childhood to worldwide recognition.

In the trailer, Hudson sings Franklin’s signature song, “Respect,” which went to number one on the Billboard charts in 1967. The song was written and originally released by Otis Redding in 1965. “Respect,” which won Franklin two Grammy Awards in 1968 for "Best Rhythm & Blues Recording" and "Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance, Female," became a rallying cry the women’s movement and is considered one of the best songs of the R&B era.

RELATED: Watch The New Trailer For The Third Kingsman Movie, Coming September 2020

The first look at the film shows Franklin’s rise to superstardom and her struggle to be taken seriously in a male-dominated industry. In one scene, we see the singer tell a condescending record executive to call her Miss Franklin after he addresses her as Aretha. Franklin, who was awarded the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, became the first female performer to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

The film, scheduled to be released in the United States on Christmas Day, also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess, Marc Maron, Kimberly Scott, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, Tate Donovan, and Mary J. Blige as Dinah Washington, Franklin’s mentor and inspiration.

Respect, directed by Liesl Tommy, the first Black woman ever nominated for a Tony award for best direction of a play in 2016 for Eclipsed, was written by Tracey Scott Wilson, a writer on FX's The Americans. Wilson won a Peabody Award as well as Emmy and WGA Award nominations for her work on The Americans. The trailer debuted during Sunday night's BET Awards at which Hudson performed Franklin's "Young, Gifted and Black."

Franklin, who was involved with the development the film, died on August 16, 2018, a year before filming began. The trailer also shows Franklin active involvement in the struggle for civil rights and women's rights. Franklin was also a strong supporter of Native American and First Nation rights.

The OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro Pro Review: Becoming The Flagship

It’s been a couple of months since OnePlus released the new OnePlus 8 & OnePlus 8 Pro, and both devices have received plenty of software updates improving the device’s experiences and camera qualities. Today, it’s time to finally go over the full review of both devices, which OnePlus no longer really calls “flagship killers”, but rather outright flagships.

The OnePlus 8, and especially the OnePlus 8 pro are big step-up redesigns from the company, significantly raising the bar in regards to the specifications and features of the phones. The OnePlus 8 Pro is essentially a check-marked wish-list of characteristics that were missing from last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro as the company has addressed some of its predecessors’ biggest criticisms. The slightly smaller and cheaper regular OnePlus 8 more closely follows its predecessors’ ethos as well as competitive pricing, all whilst adopting the new design language that’s been updated with this year’s devices.

Amazon Prime's The Boys Finally Has A Season 2 Release Date

Amazon Prime has finally revealed when the first three episodes of The Boys season two will drop, and when the rest of the season will follow.

When it comes to success and even dominance in the video streaming world, a service's originals have a big role to play. It's one of the main reasons Netflix has become the behemoth that it is today. It's also why Disney+ had the clout to step in as an immediate number two behind Netflix since it has a pool of original content stemming from as far back as the 1930s to pull from.

It is also one of the reasons why Amazon Prime isn't quite as successful as its bosses hoped it might become. That being said, Prime has offered up the occasional hit. The likes of Good Omens and The Man In The High Castle are definitely worth a look. However, perhaps the best Prime original to date has been The Boys.

The first and so far only season of the show offers up a look at how superheroes would probably be treated and used if they really existed. Money-making machines with a PR company behind them, covering up their wrongdoings and always presenting them in a positive light. No spoilers here, but the first season ended on such a cliffhanger that almost everyone who watched it has been left on the edge of their seat ever since.

Well, everyone still on the edge of their seats for almost a whole year now knows when they'll be able to relax. Patton Oswalt, who will join the show as a guest star in season two, revealed the news via live stream over the weekend. The first three episodes of the new season will drop on September 4, 2020. A new episode will drop every Friday after that until the finale on October 9, 2020.

Prime's release schedule for the new season is an interesting one. Netflix tends to drop all episodes of a new series at once to appease the binge-watchers, while Disney+ has committed to releasing new seasons one episode at a time. By giving viewers three new episodes right off the bat, and the rest weekly, Prime will cater to both binge-watchers and those who like to string out their shows.

Zoë Kravitz Says Robert Pattinson Is "Perfect" For The Batman Role

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is preparing to suit up as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves' upcoming 2021 blocksbuter, The Batman.

Pattinson was cast as the iconic DC Comics hero after Ben Affleck stepped down from the role; the latter portrayed Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League 2017).

Reeves has assembled a star-studded cast that includes three of the main villains from the Rogues Gallery: Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as Riddler/Edward Nashton and Colin Farrell as the Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot.

Kravitz will be the third actress to portray Catwoman in a live action Batman film. Michelle Pfeiffer first did so in Tim Burton's Batman Returns (1992), followed by Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), the final installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.

In an interview with Variety, Kravitz offered strong praise for Pattinson as Batman, believing that he's "perfect for" the role.

"Good question. First of all, he’s just a really good actor. He started out as this kind of teen pop sensation, and then I think we all kind of saw through his work that there was a lot more going on. He’s a really interesting artist, and that is very much Batman in a way. We have the illusion of Bruce Wayne, and then we have Batman in the shadows that has a lot more complicated things going on. So just in that, I think he’s perfect for this role.

He can relate in that way, and he looks good in the suit, man. He looks good in the suit. That’s a good jaw line. But he’s just a great actor and he brings so much to everything he does. I think that it’s a really hard role because people are expecting a lot. Also it’s restricting in a lot of ways.

You’re wearing the suit, and you can’t see their eyes, and you can only move in a certain way. So you have to get really creative in terms of how can you portray a multidimensional character? He’s way up for the challenge and has really interesting ideas already. I think he’s perfect, perfect casting."

Pattinson will be the sixth actor to play Batman in a live action film. Micheal Keaton first did it in Batman (1989) and the aforementioned Batman Returns. After leaving the franchise, Keaton was replaced by Val Kilmer for Batman Forever (1995), followed by George Clooney in Batman & Robin (1997).

RELATED: [Rumor] New "Batman: Arkham" Game Could Be Revealed In August

The franchise was rebooted under Nolan, with Christian Bale wearing the cape and the cowl in the former's trilogy, followed by Affleck in Zack Snyder's two films.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received largely negative reviews, and Justice League was met with a lukewarm reception. The pressure is on Reeves and company to piece together something better here, but it's hard not to be encouraged with the strong cast he's put together.

The Batman will also star Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson.

[Rumor] Jadeveon Clowney Interested In Signing With Saints And Cowboys

Jadeveon Clowney, one of the top free agents of the 2020 class, remains unsigned as NFL training camp draws closer.

The first overall pick from the 2014 draft played last season with the Seattle Seahawks, recording three sacks and four forced fumbles in 13 games. Few, if anybody, could have expected that Clowney would remain unsigned for this long.

But the 27-year-old has patiently waited things out, and there's been no shortage of interest in his services. A new report suggests that if Clowney gets his wish, he'll end up with a Super Bowl contender in 2020.

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network (h/t Lindsey Wisniewski of NBC Sports Northwest) reports that the New Orleans Saints and Dalls Cowboys are "on top of Clowney's list", in regards to "where he would like to end up"

Pauline noted that the teams are up against the salary cap, and it would take a lot of work to fit Clowney in. Pauline is also unsure if the Saints and Cowboys want to sign the three-time Pro Bowler.

RELATED: [Report] Patrick Mahomes' Next Contract Will "Shatter Records"

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Seahawks offered Clowney a one-year contract worth $15 million. Clowney also reportedly turned down a massive offer from the Cleveland Browns, who were one of the most active teams in 2020 free agency.

Drafted first overall by the Houston Texans in 2014, Clowney has been one of the game's most productive pass rushers and turnover artists when healthy. He recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2017, and nine in the 2018 season. The Texans traded Clowney to the Seahawks before the start of last season, and he played a key role in helping them reach the postseason.

Given his age, career resume and excellent pass rushing skills, it's no surprise that Clowney has drawn plenty of interest on the open market. It won't be long until he finds a new team, but it's anybody's guess where Clowney will sign.

‘The Simpsons’ & ‘Family Guy’ Will No Longer Use White Actors For Non-White Roles

On Friday, producers for both The Simpsons and Family Guy, two of the longest running animated series on television, announced that they would no longer use white voice actors to play non-white rules.

Mike Henry, who plays the role of Cleveland Brown on Family Guy, agreed that his character should be played by a black actor. “It’s been an honor to play Cleveland on ‘Family Guy’ for 20 years,” Henry tweeted. “I love this character, but persons of color should play characters of color. Therefore, I will be stepping down from the role.”

RELATED: Dixie Chicks Change Name To ‘The Chicks’ To Distance Themselves From Racist Connotations

Henry, who has written for The Simpsons, co-created and starred in the spinoff The Cleveland Show, which aired for four seasons. He also voices another black character, Cleveland's stepson Rallo Tubbs, who occasionally appears on Family Guy.

Meanwhile, on The Simpsons, producers issued a statement that said they would no longer use white actors to voice nonwhite characters. The show, which just ended its 31st season, has been criticized in the past for its stereotypical portrayal of Indian-American characters. Hank Azaria, who voiced the character Apu, an Indian convenience store owner, announced earlier this year he would no longer play the character.

The announcements are a response to the heightened awareness of systemic racism in American society, which has been evidenced by the killings of black Americans by law enforcement. Earlier this week, Jenny Slate and Kristen Bell, both white actresses, said that they would stop playing biracial characters on animated shows.

Slate, who voiced the character Missy on Big Mouth, said she was “engaging in an act of erasure of Black people” by playing the role. Bell, who voiced the character Molly on Central Park, believes that casting “a mixed-race character with a white actress” had undercut “the specificity of the mixed race and Black American experience.”

The Simpsons has several supporting black characters whose roles are voiced by white actors, including Homer’s workmate, Carl Carlson, and the family physician, Dr. Hibbert. The show hasn’t yet revealed who will play these characters.

Family Guy also features a number of nonwhite characters who are voiced by white actors, like Tricia Takanawa, a Japanese-American news reporter played by Alex Borstein. It is also unclear how these roles will be recast.

Will Ferrell Reveals A Wedding Crashers Sequel Is In The Works

15 years after the original was released, Will Ferrell has revealed that a Wedding Crashers sequel is currently being written.

There has always been a market for nostalgia, but demand for it has never been higher than it has been over the past half a decade or so. Whether it be TV show reboots, video game remasters, or long-overdue movie sequels, nothing appears to be off-limits right now no matter how long ago the original took place or how poorly it may have aged.

Whether it be a live-action Disney remake, a Jumanji sequel, or yet another Batman reboot, everything is getting revived. Speaking on movies that might not have aged well, Wedding Crashers appears to be next on the list. As highlighted by GQ, two guys tricking women into sleeping with them via a string of elaborate lies probably makes for far more uncomfortable viewing than it did in 2005.

RELATED: How Michael Keaton Returning As Batman Might Work

Nevertheless, as was revealed by Will Ferrell during an interview with E! Online, Wedding Crashers is getting a sequel 15 years on from the release of the original. Well, more than 15 years by the time it sees that light of day as according to Ferrell, the movie is still in the process of being written. Ferrell joked about what a sequel to the movie could focus around.

"How about if it’s just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? And just make it like a legal courtroom drama, not funny at all," Ferrell suggested. That would certainly avoid the elements of the first movie that haven't aged well. As for who is on board for the project, while there is no word yet on whether Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson will reprise their roles, but it's hard to imagine the movie would be going ahead without them.

David Dobkin, the director of the first film, will return to direct the sequel. This comes after years of Warner Bros. nagging him to hop on board for a sequel. Dobkin revealed that the movie will focus on John and Jeremy who find themselves single again but in their late 40s. The idea of two men having to tackle that at that point in their lives and telling that story is what convinced him to finally agree to direct a sequel.

Dixie Chicks Change Name To ‘The Chicks’ | TheRichest.com

The Dixie Chicks will now be known as The Chicks to distance themselves from the racist connotations of the name. Dixie referred to the eleven Southern states that seceded from the United States in late 1860 and early 1861 to form the new Confederate States of America.

In a statement, the country trio said, “We want to meet this moment.” They also thanked the New Zealand group The Chicks who allowed them to share the name. The change was announced on Thursday morning via social media and a press release. The new name coincides with the release of their new single, “March March,” which was accompanied by a video that features images of Black Lives Matter, the Human Rights Campaign, the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, March for Our Lives, among others.

Earlier this month, Lady Antebellum shortened its name to Lady A. Antebellum referred to the pre-American Civil War period in the Southern United States. The former Dixie Chicks are no strangers to controversy. In 2003, they were banned by many commercial radio stations in the United States after criticizing George Bush for his pro-war stance during a concert in London.

Eventually the group made a comeback and attracted many new fans. In 2006, their album Taking the Long Way won album, record and song of the year at the Grammys. Their latest album, Gaslighter, is their first in 14 years and will be released on July 17. Although they have consistently toured, they resisted recording a new album until they reunited with producer Jack Antonoff last year.

Since the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis, many brands are reconsidering their image. Quaker Oats, which produces the Aunt Jemima brand pancake mix and syrup, said it would rebrand the products and do away with the image of its namesake, which dates back to a time when black women were seen as servants and maids.

Other brands, like Uncle Ben’s rice, Mrs. Butterworth’s pancake mix and syrup, and Cream of Wheat porridge, will also replace their current packaging, which has long been considered racist. Aunt and Uncle were how white Southerners referred to older black people to avoid calling them Sir or Madam.

2020 World Series Odds Released, Yankees & Dodgers The Favorites

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball and the MLBPA reached an agreement on a 60-game season, which will reportedly begin on July 23.

The regular season is slated to run through Sept. 27, with the playoffs beginning two days later. Game 7 of the 2020 World Series, if necessary, will take place on Oct. 28. The league hasn't released the complete schedule yet.

With the 2020 season now official, the 2020 World Series odds have been released. Unsurprisingly, two perennial powerhouses - the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees - are the primary betting favorites.

According to Caesars Sportsbook (h/t David Purdum of ESPN.com), the Dodgers and Yankees are the two favorites at 7-2, followed by the defending AL Champion Houston Astros at 11-1.

After those two teams, the reigning NL East Champion Atlanta Braves and AL Central Champion Minnesota Twins carry the best odds at 15-1.

The Yankees and Dodgers made the two biggest moves of the 2020 offseason. New York signed former Astros ace pitcher Gerrit Cole to a nine-year contract worth $324 million - the richest deal ever for a pitcher.

RELATED: [Report] Patrick Mahomes' Next Contract Will "Shatter Records"

As for the Dodgers, who endured another untimely and heartbreaking playoff defeat, they added 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts and former Cy Young pitcher David Price in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox, who were looking to clear salary.

The Dodgers were the best team in the NL last year at 106-56, while the Yankees went 103-59. Both clubs have added plenty more star power to their rosters, so it's no surprise that they come in as the betting favorites. For the Yankees, adding Cole was a double whammy, as he was instrumental in helping the rival Astros reach the World Series last season.

Los Angeles won the NL pennant in 2017 and 2018, but they fell in the World Series to the Astros and Red Sox, respectively. We'll find out soon enough if Betts and Price - both members of the 2018 World Series champion Red Sox - can help the Dodgers finally get over the hump.

NFL Expects To Start Training Camp As Scheduled On July 28

The NFL was forced to make several adjustments due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but they're still on track to proceed with the 2020 season as initially scheduled.

According to NFL.com, the league has informed the 32 teams that they expect training camps "to begin as scheduled July 28 with rookies and selected players permitted to report earlier." This message was relayed by Jeff pash, who serves as the league executive vice president and general counsel.

Although training camp could start on time, the NFL has already had to makesignificant changes to the offseason schedule. The 2020 Hall of Fame Game between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers - scheduled for Aug. 6 - was canceled.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the NFL was looking at reducing the preseason schedule from four games to two. The hasn't made a final decision on that front yet. Week 1 of the preseason is currently scheduled to run from Aug. 13 to 16, with the final week running on Sept. 3.

In the early stages of the offseason, the league and players agreed to conduct virtual OTAs. This year's draft was scheduled to take place in Paradise, Nevada, but it was moved into a virtual format.

RELATED: [Report] Patrick Mahomes' Next Contract Will "Shatter Records"

Commissioner Roger Goodell announced the picks in the basement of his home. In order to enhance the fan broadcast, the televised event featured cheering fans for teams when it was their turn to pick.

The 2020 NFL regular season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 10, with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. The postseason - which is expanding from 12 to 14 teams - is set to begin on Jan. 9 Super Bowl LV is scheduled for Feb. 7 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The league will reportedly allow all 32 teams to decide how many fans they want in their stadiums - or if they'd rather play without any spectators at all.
