Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston Reveals That He Has Recovered From COVID-19

Bryan Cranston is the latest celebrity to reveal he had COVID-19 and is using his fame to urge others to do all that they can to help.
Even though more than 600,000 people have been killed by COVID-19 worldwide, some people still refuse to take it seriously. Some people even refuse to believe it exists. A lot of the time, the reason for someone acting that way in the wake of something so serious is because they haven't been affected by it directly, or seen what the virus can do first-hand.
That's why when news breaks of a celebrity contracting the virus it shouldn't be greeted with an eye roll or a sigh. We completely agree that a celebrity contracting the virus isn't any worse than a non-famous person falling ill. However, someone famous sharing their own coronavirus story can lead to those who didn't take it seriously previously realizing that they need to change their attitude.
RELATED: Every Breaking Bad Character To Have Crossed Over Into Better Call Saul (So Far)
That's why Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad's Walter White) took to Instagram this week to tell his story. Cranston revealed that he contracted COVID-19, despite following all the protocols, but was one of the lucky ones as his symptoms were mild. However, he is using his platform to urge others to take the pandemic seriously, wash their hands, and wear a mask.
Since Cranston now has the COVID-19 antibodies having recovered from the virus, so decided to donate plasma. Not only that, but he documented his plasma donation on Instagram, as can be seen above. Cranston will be hoping that by showing how easy and almost painless the process is, others who have suffered and recovered from the virus will follow in his footsteps and also donate plasma.
Cranston isn't the only celebrity to have caught and recovered from COVID-19, of course. Tom Hanks was one of the first, and Mel Gibson was hospitalized with the virus. Hopefully, all of those who have caught it who have a platform will use it to spread a positive message, as in some parts of the world there are far too many people still not taking the pandemic seriously.

Boyd Holbrook Says The Fugitive Is Not A Remake Of The 1993 Film

On Thursday’s episode of The Big Ticket, Variety and iHeart’s podcast, Narcos star Boyd Holbrook talked about his latest project, a reboot of The Fugitive on Quibi. Developed by Nick Santora, the new series follows the same man-on-the-run plotline of the 1993 Harrison Ford-Tommy Lee Jones film and the 1960s TV drama but introduces new characters.
Holbrook stars as Mike Ferro, an ex-con who goes on the run after a reporter, played by Tiya Sircar, tweets that he is a suspect in the terrorist bombing of a Los Angeles Metro station. The series also stars Kiefer Sutherland, who plays Clay Bryce, the detective heading up the investigation.
RELATED: The Witcher Is Getting A Prequel Series Set 1200 Years Before Season One
Known for also playing Donald Pierce in the Wolverine sequel Logan, Holbrook says he was not interested in signing onto a remake. Quibi, a short-form streaming platform for mobile devices, will air The Fugitive as 10-minute episodes.
The new version will incorporate modern elements, such as social media, which will add tension to the storyline since Ferro’s face is suddenly in everyone’s timeline. It will also examine how journalism has shifted in the last 30 years, as conspiracy theories abound, and news stories go unchecked.
Holbrook, who’s been self-isolating at his home in New York, says the lockdown tested his patience, but he’s kept busy by building a creek in his backyard. The actor got his start as a model for brands like Gucci, Versace, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs. He then studied acting with the William Esper Studio and received an SCPS Certificate in 16mm film from New York University.
In 2008, he was cast in Milk, a film based on the life of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk, which was directed by Gus Van Sant. After numerous roles on the big screen and on television, Holbrook was cast as DEA agent Steve Murphy in the critically-acclaimed first and second seasons of Narcos.
Holbrook has several films in the works, including Vengeance, a horror-thriller film written and directed by The Office’s B. J. Novak, who is making his directorial debut. It also stars Issa Rae and Ashton Kutcher.

Ellen DeGeneres Shifts Blame For Toxic Work Culture To Staff

Ellen DeGeneres has finally spoken out after staffers accused her of ignoring the toxic work environment at her show. In a letter to her crew, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen appears to shift the blame to others saying that since the show has grown, she has not been able to keep tabs on the day to day production activities.
A Buzzfeed story published earlier this month featured numerous former employees accusing the show of engaging in racism, intimidation and unwarranted termination. The employees claimed the show's top producers promoted a toxic work culture. The allegations prompted an in-house investigation by Telepictures parent WarnerMedia, which is nearly complete.
RELATED: This Chrome App Lets Users Know If A Celebrity Has Been Accused Of Harassment
Insiders believe that heads are expected to roll and that executive producer Ed Glavin may be the first to go. "Once he's out, it will be like a new day," a source said, adding that DeGeneres was unaware of Glavin's mistreatment of the staff.
The executive producer had sent a statement, which was also signed by executive producers Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner, to Buzzfeed after the report appeared, saying, “We have strived to create an open, safe, and inclusive work environment. We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience.”
Glavin, who has been accused of having an explosive temper, is also alleged to have engaged in inappropriate behavior with employees, including unwelcome touching. Another executive producer, Kevin Leman, has been accused by former staffers of sexual abuse and harassment. Employees claim they saw Leman grope and kiss employees, and even grab a production assistant’s genitalia.
In addition, co-executive producer, Jonathan Norman, is alleged to have showered a former employee with gifts before trying to perform oral sex on him. Formers staffer cannot agree on how much Ellen knew. Some say she was rarely in the office and was somewhat distanced from her staff. Others say she should have known what was going on since she is in continuous contact with senior producers.
The show was renewed in 2019 for three more years. It remains to be seen when the show will start filming on set again since Ellen has spent the lockdown shooting from home, away from most of her staff.

LeSean McCoy Signs One-Year Deal With Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After acquiring two perennial Pro Bowlers in the early stages of the 2020 offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to add a third to their rapidly improving roster.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers signed veteran running back LeSean McCoy a one-year contract. It's a veteran's minimum deal that will pay him slightly over $1 million, per Rapoport.
McCoy spent the 2019 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won his first Super Bowl championship ring.
The 32-year-old McCoy joins a Tampa Bay team that signed six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady to a two-year, $50 million contract. He wasn't the only New England Patriot legend to arrive in Tampa, however.
One month later, former superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement and orchestrated a trade to the Buccaneers, reuniting with his teammate of nine years.
A six-time Pro Bowler, McCoy has enjoyed a remarkable career that could very well place him in the Hall of Fame. He has six 1,000-yard rushing seasons on his resume, and McCoy won the rushing title in 2013 with 1,607 yards.
For his career, McCoy has 11,071 rushing yards and 73 touchdowns. He sits 22nd all time in career rushing yards, but McCoy needs just 1,049 more to move into the top 15; Franco Harris holds the 15th spot with 12,120 yards.
RELATED: Los Angeles Chargers Sign Joey Bosa To $135 Million Contract
Tony Dorsett sits 10th all time in rushing yards with 12,739, so McCoy will need at least two more productive seasons if he's to move into the career top 10.
Ronald Jones led the Buccaneers last season with 724 rushing yards. Head coach Bruce Arians is known for running a pass-heavy offense, so it remains to be seen how much he'll use the running back duo of Jones and McCoy.
But adding a Super Bowl champion and a possible Hall of Famer on a one-year deal is a worthwhile investment for a Tampa Bay team that has all the makings to contend in 2020.

Stranger Things 4 Production Was Ahead Of Schedule, Then The Pandemic Hit

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has revealed production for season four was ahead of schedule before it was halted by the pandemic.
The COVID-19 outbreak has had quite an impact on the TV and movie world. Production on pretty much any project came to a halt back in March and for the most part, none of those projects have been able to pick up where they left off. A few studios are starting to return to set, but some are being scrutinized for doing so.
That will mean movies we are eagerly anticipating and new seasons of our favorite TV shows will likely be released later than advertised. Season two of The Witcher will not resume production until midway through August, and Disney+ confirmed last week that the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been delayed since work on the series is not quite finished.
RELATED: Disney Confirms The Release Of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Has Been Delayed
Turns out Stranger Things 4 will also arrive later than planned. Finn Wolfhard confirmed as much when talking to The Guardian recently. Even worse, Wolfhard divulged that prior to the pandemic, production on the fourth season of the show was actually ahead of schedule. "We were ahead of schedule, which has never happened before because there’s never a realistic approach to scheduling," Wolfhard revealed.
As was the case with everyone and everything, filming of Stranger Things 4 came to an abrupt end and everyone was sent home. What makes this news even worse is it appeared as if Stranger Things fans were going to have a short wait between seasons this time around. Netflix dropped a teaser for season four shortly after the end of season three, teasing and then revealing (spoiler alert) that Detective Hopper is still alive.
Netflix planned on releasing Stranger Things 4 at the start of 2021. The chances of that happening are now almost non-existent. As far as we know, filming has not yet resumed. On the bright side, work on the show that doesn't require travel or gathering with others has continued as is complete. All of the scripts for season four, for example, have been finished during lockdown.

NVIDIA Launches Rainbow Six: Siege Game Bundle for GeForce RTX 20 Series Cards
Barely a couple of weeks off of their previous Death Stranding game bundle, NVIDIA is back with a new game bundle for GeForce RTX cards. Dubbed the Frames Win Games bundle, NVIDIA is now including copies of Rainbow Six Siege: Gold Edition.
Rainbow Six Siege is a more unusual choice for a video card game bundle. The online-focused first person shooter was first launched back in 2015, and in the last several years has been well-received, leading to Ubisoft giving it ongoing support and expansions. The Gold Edition, in turn, includes the base game and much of this expansion content, including the most recent “Year 5” pass. DLC aside, I cannot recall a game that has been out this long ever being bundled with a high-end video card. This also leads into the name of the bundle, alluding to the fact that NVIDIA's RTX cards can easily hit 144fps in the game.
| NVIDIA Current Game Bundles (July/August 2020) |
|||
| Video Card (incl. systems and OEMs) |
Bundle | ||
| GeForce RTX 20 Series (All) | Rainbow Six Siege: Gold Edition | ||
| GeForce GTX 16 Series (All) | None | ||
Digging into the bundle itself, as this is a single game bundle, NVIDIA’s deal is pretty straightforward. The company will be including the game with all of their GeForce RTX cards, from the RTX 2060 up to the RTX 2080 Ti. This offer also applies to many desktop and laptop systems including these cards as well, so long as the vendor is a participating NVIDIA partner. Though it bears mentioning that this latest bundle is once again going to be relatively short lived, with the program ending on August 27th.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA is not currently offering any game bundles for its lower-tier cards, the GeForce GTX series.
As always, codes must be redeemed via the GeForce Experience application on a system with a qualifying graphics card installed. More information and details can be found in the terms and conditions. Be sure to verify the participation of any vendors purchased from, as NVIDIA will not give codes for purchases made from non-participating sellers.

Ed Sheeran Blames Addictive Personality For Binge Eating & Drinking

In an interview for the Hay House Chasing the Present Summit, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, 29, discussed his "addictive personality" that he says led him to be the "lowest I've ever been."
Sheeran, who sang at a local church choir at the age of four and learned how to play the guitar at age eleven, started writing songs while at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham. He released his debut album + in 2011, which produced four top ten singles, including "The A Team," "You Need Me, I Don't Need You," "Lego House" and "Drunk."
Sheeran spent 2015 on the road as part of his x World Tour. He says a bad diet, binge drinking and lack of exercise severely impacted his well-being. The British singer recalls he would drink all night, sleep all day and never see sunlight. He admits that in the beginning, it was fun living the rock and roll lifestyle but that it eventually took its toll.
RELATED: Ed Sheeran Out-Earns Beyoncé & Taylor Swift In Touring For 2018
The endless cycle of unhealthy behavior led him to question his existence. Sheeran blames his descent on having "a very, very addictive personality." He likened himself to Elton John, whose biography he’s reading, in that he would binge on food and alcohol, often eating several desserts until he threw up.
The “Perfect” singer says the experience left him sad and depressed. Even though his abuse of sugar and alcohol had short-term rewards, he recognizes that he struggled with his weight gain. At one point, his entourage referred to him as Two Dinner Teddy because he would order two meals.
Now, he says he has found his way back by practicing moderation and exercising. His wife, Cherry Seaborn, has also had a tremendous influence on him. He followed her lead when it came to going out running, eating balanced meals and drinking in moderation.
Sheeran, who has released four studio albums, has gone on to amass a fortune of $160 million. He has won four Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year in 2016 for "Thinking Out Loud", five Brit Awards, including British Male Solo Artist in 2015, and six Billboard Music Awards, including Top Artist in 2018. In 2015 and 2018, he received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors.

[Report] "Batman: Arkham City" Sold More Than 12 Million Copies In First Year

It's been nine years since the release of the timeless Batman: Arkham City video game, which was made by Rocksteady Studios.
One of the greatest superhero video games of all time, Arkham City is often regarded as the best installment of of the Arkham series. A tweaked version of the game was released on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One platforms in 2016, five years after its initial release.
In February 2012, it was reported that Arkham City had shipped 6 million copies since its Oct. 18, 2011 release. Eight years later, we have a more specific number on just how well Arkham City sold within its first year of release.
Twitter user @bogorad222 noticed something in the LinkedIn page of someone who worked as a Global Franchise Marketing Manager for Warner Bros. The job description notes that Arkham City sold more than 12.5 million units from 2011 to 2012.
The universally-acclaimed game starred Kevin Conroy (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Mark Hamill (Joker), who reprised their iconic roles from the popular '90s cartoon, Batman: The Animated Series.
Following the success of Arkham City, WB Games Montreal developed Batman: Arkham Origins, which was released two years later. Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker provided the voices for Bruce Wayne/Batman and Joker, respectively.
RELATED: [Rumor] New "Batman: Arkham" Game Could Be Revealed In August

Less than four years after the release of Arkham City, Rocksteady Studios developed Batman: Arkham Knight. Conroy and Hamill reprised their respective roles, and Arkham Knight included most of the same cast members from Arkham City.
The game ended on a cliffhanger, and five years later, Arkham fans still don't know if that marked the end of the franchise.
But there have been numerous hints and teases about a new Arkham game being in development. In fact, a new Batman game will reportedly be released at the DC FanDome virtual event on Aug. 22, although it's unclear if it would be part of the Arkham series.

Watch The Umbrella Academy Battle Together In Season 2's Brutally Awesome Opening Scene

Netflix has dropped the opening scene of The Umbrella Academy season two and it shows all of the Hargreeves siblings, apart from Five, working together.
At the time of typing this, it is less than 48 hours until season two of The Umbrella Academy drops on Netflix. Warning from the outset, this article will feature spoilers pertaining to how season one came to an end. However, since you are reading this article, and it has been well over a year since season one was released, we're going to assume everyone reading this knows what happened.
After the Hargreeves siblings failed to save the world in time, Five put his powers to the rest and attempted to transport himself and his siblings through time. It appeared to be successful as credits rolled on season one, and the teasers for season two appear to corroborate that belief.
RELATED: Forget Baby Yoda, We Want More Of Umbrella Academy's Baby Pogo
However, Netflix dropped the opening scene of season two today, which you can check out below, and all is not well. The first thing we see is Five arriving on November 25, 1963. War appears to have broken out, a belief that is confirmed when Five finds a newspaper on the ground. It reveals that the Soviet Union has attacked the United States. Enter the other six members of The Umbrella Academy.
That cements the reveal that Five's siblings all arrived in the past at different times. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the six members, including the still deceased Ben, are working together to fight off Soviet soldiers. Good news, right? Well, not for long. An aged Hazel appears at Five's side and coins an Arnie line by telling him that he will need to come with him if he wants to live.
When Hazel points out the nukes hurtling towards the Earth, Five grabs his hand and the two of them disappear. The rest of the Academy siblings are then killed in a massive nuclear blast. Thus begins Five's journey through the years building to that moment in an attempt to gather together his brothers and sisters and yes, once again, try to prevent the inevitable end of the world.

Best Android Phones: July 2020
We’re now in the midst of the summer months and well into the product release cycles of almost every vendor of 2020. The spring release cycle is well past us and we’ve now transitioned to the second phase of device releases of the year, seeing vendors put out devices with the second take on this current silicon generation.
2020 has been about 5G devices as well as high-refresh rate displays, combined with the adoption of many-camera modules as well as bigger sensors. Pretty much every vendor has followed this formula to date, with many vendors such as Samsung or OnePlus executing the best this year.
In the mid-range, things have been quite shaken up by the release of reasonably priced phones with the new Snapdragon 765 SoC. OnePlus’ release of the Nord marks the company’s return into the sub-$500 market, while Xiaomi’s release of the Mi 10 Lite offers incredible value for its minuscule price.

Best SSDs: July 2020
A solid state drive is often the most important component for making a PC feel fast and responsive; any PC still using a mechanical hard drive as its primary storage is long overdue for an upgrade. The SSD market is broader than ever, with a wide range prices, performance and form factors.
Pre-COVID market forecasts pointed to a NAND flash memory shortage to develop throughout 2020. Both NAND supply and demand have been spared the worst impacts seen in other markets, with the end result that SSD prices are generally a bit higher than last year. So far, the NAND shortage isn't as severe as initially expected, nor is it as bad as the 2017 shortage that occurred as most of the industry struggled to follow Samsung into the 3D NAND era. There's still plenty of demand for flash memory for servers and PCs, but that's offset by reduced demand from the smartphone market. Projections for the future demand trends are quite varied.

Los Angeles Chargers Sign Joey Bosa To $135 Million Contract

Joey Bosa has emerged as one of the NFL's most dominant defensive players, and the Los Angeles Chargers have awarded him for it.
On Tuesday evening, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Chargers signed Bosa to a massive five-year contract extension worth $135 million, including $102 million in guaranteed money.
Last offseason, the Chargers picked up the fifth year on Bosa's rookie contract. He was entering the final season of his contract, but the massive extension will prevent him from hitting the free agent market in 2021.
Bosa's $135 million deal is tied for the sixth richest contract in NFL history, along with Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
Among all defensive players, only Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack has a more lucrative contract; he signed a six-year, $141 million deal in the 2018 offseason.
Per Spotrac.com, Bosa is now just one of nine defensive players who carries a contract of $100-plus million, along with Donald, Mack, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller, Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.
RELATED: Patrick Mahomes Is Now A Part-Owner Of The Kansas City Royals
Bosa was drafted third overall by the Chargers in 2016. The two-time Pro Bowler won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors after recording 10.5 sacks. For his career, the 25-year-old Bosa has 40 sacks and five forced fumbles.
Despite Bosa's dominance, the Chargers have only made the playoffs once over the past four years. That was in 2018, when they went 12-4 and reached the AFC Divisional Round, falling to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. The Chargers slumped to a disappointing 5-11 record in 2019, finishing last in the AFC West division.
But there is optimism about a turnaround in 2020. The Chargers have one of the league's best defenses led by Bosa, Melvin Ingram, Casey Hayward and Derwin James. If Bosa and company can continue to perform at a high level, they could very well return to the playoffs in 2020.

CES 2021: Physical Event Cancelled, Moves to All-Digital Format
As the world continues to battle on with SARC-CoV-2, large public events and especially trade shows were cancelled one after another for 2020. Large computing shows such as Computex, even after an attempted delay to September, eventually completely cancelled their plans for the year.
Today, the Computer Technology Association has announced that next year’s CES 2021 event will also no longer take place in physical form, and instead move to an all-digital format experience. CES is usually the world’s biggest consumer electronics show with up to 180,000 attendees assembling in early January in Las Vegas to showcase the newest gadgets and electronics in the consumer market.
The new all-digital format will be a big change for the show which likely will represent a herculean effort on the part of the organisers. CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro quotes:
"Amid the pandemic and growing global health concerns about the spread of COVID-19, it's just not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January 2021 to meet and do business in person,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “Technology helps us all work, learn and connect during the pandemic — and that innovation will also help us reimagine CES 2021 and bring together the tech community in a meaningful way. By shifting to an all-digital platform for 2021, we can deliver a unique experience that helps our exhibitors connect with existing and new audiences."
We here at AnandTech had low expectations of CES taking place, so the move to an online format makes a ton of sense given the health and safety concerns of such a large physical event. The current pandemic situation in the US and various travel restrictions as well as quarantine procedures will have played a large role in the CTA’s decision to cancel the physical event. The CTA states that they’re planning to returning to Las Vegas in 2022.
With CES confirmed to moving to an online-only event, as well as yesterday’s announcement of Supercomputing 2020 (SC20) also going online-only, the AnandTech team is likely to be staying at home until well into 2021 as there’s no physical events left to attend for the foreseeable future.

Forget Baby Yoda, We Want More Of Umbrella Academy's Baby Pogo

Netflix is offering up sneak peeks at The Umbrella Academy's new season all week long, and kicked things off with a look at Baby Pogo.
Baby versions of iconic characters are all the rage right now. Baby Yoda started the trend when he popped up in The Mandalorian last year. Yes, it isn't really a baby version of Yoda, just a younger version of a creature from the same species. Paramount saw the traction Disney+ picked up off the back of its tiny Yoda and decided to do the same with Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog.
Well, we think Netflix might have Sonic and Yoda beat. The streaming service is dropping sneak peeks of The Umbrella Academy season two all week long in preparation for its release this coming Friday. The first sneak peek, which landed on Monday, gave fans a look at a baby version of one of the show's characters, and confirmed what some believed they saw in the trailer at the same time.

It's Baby Pogo! For anyone unacquainted with The Umbrella Academy, Pogo is a walking, talking chimpanzee that helped care for the Hargreeves family when they were children. The trouble is, and major spoilers alert for anyone who hasn't seen season one, Pogo meets his gruesome demise in the season finale. He is killed by Vanya (Ellen Page) as she brings the academy crashing down.
Umbrella Academy fans had been wondering whether they would see Pogo again in season two after confirmation that the seven heroes would be heading back in time. There was talk that a baby version of the chimp could be seen in the trailer for the show, and Netflix has now confirmed those rumors to be true. Whether Baby Pogo has developed the ability to talk yet remains to be seen.
The Hargreeves siblings are shown talking to their adopted father during the trailer for season two, and since Reginald is responsible for creating Pogo, that's likely where he crops up. As for breaking the news of his untimely death sixty years on to the young primate, it might be best to sweep that under the rug since the timeline has changed, and his death, at least at the hands of Vanya, might never actually happen.

OpenXR Update: First Approved Runtimes Now Available, OpenXR Coming to Minecraft
Among the many technologies to come under the purview of the Khronos consortium have been augmented reality and virtual reality. Looking to fulfill the group’s mandate to develop open standards for new technologies, the group set about creating an open API for use with AR and VR devices, which culminated in the OpenXR standard. The initial version of that standard was released last summer, and now that the wider technology industry has finally had a chance to develop software for it, this morning Khronos is offering a status update on the state of OpenXR, along with a few choice announcements relating to projects using the new API.
First and foremost, Khronos is announcing that the first standard-conformant implementations for OpenXR are finally shipping. Starting today, both Oculus’s and Microsoft’s respective OpenXR runtimes have passed conformance testing and have been approved by the group, allowing the two companies to promote their support for OpenXR as part of Khronos’s OpenXR adopters program.
Surprisingly, both tethered and stand-alone headsets are among the newly-compliant devices. Both Microsoft and Oculus now have approved runtimes for Windows, bringing OpenXR support to Windows Mixed Reality devices along with the Oculus Rift family of HMDs. Meanwhile Oculus’s stand-alone, Android-powered headset, the Oculus Quest, has also received OpenXR support, as has Microsoft’s stand-alone HoloLens 2 AR headset. This means that in the span of a year OpenXR support has already expanded to cover the full gamut of devices OpenXR was envisioned for, with both AR and VR devices now supporting the API.
This in turn marks a major milestone for OpenXR, as it means the standard has finally resolved the bootstrapping problem that all new APIs face. With working hardware available, rank and file software developers can finally write software and test against actual devices, making the entire process much easier. Consequently, in many ways it’s this moment, rather than last year’s OpenXR 1.0 launch, that truly kicks off the lifecycle for the API, as Khronos and its members can finally reach out to developers about widespread deployment. Meanwhile, the ranks of supported headsets is slated to grow over the coming months, as Valve, Varjo, and Collabora all have OpenXR implementations currently under development.
Speaking of Valve, the game developer and increasingly ecosystem builder as well has previously announced that it is working to transition its own VR wares to OpenXR. Last month the company launched beta support for OpenXR within SteamVR, allowing SteamVR games to use compliant OpenXR runtimes. Meanwhile Valve is essentially putting development of its own OpenVR standard on hold, shifting its focus to OpenXR as any new SteamVR features are slated to be developed against Khronos’s API.
Meanwhile Microsoft is slated to be using OpenXR for some of its own projects as well, most notably a new VR version of Minecraft. Being announced today, Microsoft is adding VR support to the new RenderDragon engine, which was launched earlier this year as part of Minecraft’s ray tracing-enabled graphical overhaul. The new VR implementation will replace the older implementation, which was built against the game’s previous rendering engine and only supported Oculus and Windows MR devices.
Finally, Khronos is also offering a brief update on the state of hand and eye tracking within OpenXR. Neither of these features made it into the core 1.0 specification, but both are now being developed as cross-vendor extensions. Both of these features are up and running on the HoloLens 2, and while developers can already use them today, anyone planning on sticking to the core specification will be happy to hear that Khronos is planning to adopt these extensions into a future version of the core specification once the extensions have proven their worth.

Ryan Dorsey Breaks His Silence On Ex-Wife Naya Rivera's Tragic Death

Ryan Dorsey has opened up about the death of ex-wife, Naya Rivera. The 37-year-old actor, known for his roles on Ray Donovan and Yellowstone, shared an Instagram post on Saturday in which he said he found it hard to believe she was gone.
"This is so unfair...there's not enough words to express the hole left in everyone's hearts. I can't believe this is life now. I don't know if I'll ever believe it," he wrote. “You were just here... We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn't fair. I don't know what to say."

Still, Dorsey said he was grateful for the time they had spent together and most of all for the little boy they shared. He added that despite the unimaginable loss, he is able to find comfort in his son, who keeps her spirit present. He also thanked fans for their support during this difficult time.
Rivera and Dorsey were married from 2014 to 2018. Their 4-year-old son, Josey, who was found alone on a boat on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, told police that he had seen his mother go under while they were swimming on July 8. Rivera’s body was recovered from the reservoir on July 13.
Police believe the boat got away from them while they were swimming and that Rivera made one last effort to get her son back to the boat before drowning. A second lifejacket, aside from the one Josey was wearing, was found on the boat. The sheriff noted that there was no evidence of foul play or suicide. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was drowning by accident.
Dorsey and River had a rocky relationship. The couple, who had dated in the past, got back together after the actress broke up with rapper Big Sean. They were married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico in July 2014, and on February 24, 2015, Rivera announced that the couple was expecting their first child. Josey Hollis was born in September 2015. A year later, the Glee actress filed for divorce, though she eventually called off the separation.
In November 2017, Rivera was arrested and charged in Kanawha County, West Virginia with misdemeanor domestic battery against Dorsey after she allegedly hit him in the head during an argument about their child. She then refiled for divorce in December 2017.
The couple agreed to temporarily share joint custody of their son, and in January 2018, the domestic battery charge was dismissed at the actor’s request, who "notified both the prosecution and the defense counsel that he was no longer seeking prosecution and has confirmed he was never at any time injured by the conduct of Ms. Rivera." On June 14, 2018, their divorce was finalized.

In February, sources confirmed that the Game of Thrones actress was pregnant. On Conan, Turner said we she was more of a homebody than Jonas, so she enjoyed the time they had together alone. During an appearance on Dr. Phil's Phil in the Blanks podcast, Turner admitted that Jonas had helped her overcome her depression. In Survive, a 2020 web series, the actress played a character with the same condition who experiences suicidal ideation. Critics agreed that the series is "further proof that the incredibly talented Sophie Turner is worthy of bigger, better roles."
"I love myself now, or more than I used to," she said. "I'm now with someone that makes me realize, you know, that I do have some redeeming qualities, I suppose, and when someone tells you they love you every day, it makes you realize why that is, and I think it makes you love yourself a bit more."
Meanwhile, in an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1's Celebrity Session hosted by The Morning Mash Up in May, Jonas said that the couple was enjoying married life during the coronavirus lockdown. The Witcher Is Getting A Prequel Series Set 1200 Years Before Season One

Netflix has announced that it is working on a prequel to The Witcher which will be set 1200 years prior to the events of season one.
One of the main reasons Netflix continues to enjoy so much success is due to its originals. Shows it creates that can't be seen anywhere else. Orange Is The New Black, GLOW, and Dead To Me, just to name a few. However, according to Netflix, its most popular original so far has been The Witcher.
The show, which is based on The Witcher series of books and games, stars Henry Cavill and aired on Netflix in 2019. According to Netflix, around 76 million people have watched The Witcher making it one of, if not the most popular first season of a show in the streaming service's history. With that in mind, it would make sense that Netflix wants to capitalize on that popularity as much as possible.
RELATED: Season 2 Of The Witcher Will Not Feature Multiple Timelines
It will do that in a number of ways. Most obviously, via a second season of The Witcher. Production has begun on the follow-up season and will resume midway through August after being forced to pause due to the pandemic. There's also an animated Witcher movie coming to the platform. Plus, on top of all that, Netflix revealed this week that a prequel series is in the works.
The six-part limited series will be called The Witcher: Blood Origin and will take place 1200 years before the events of season one. Sorry Cavill fans, that means there will be no appearances from the Witcher we know and love. Instead, the series will track how Geralt's kind came to be and show how the very first Witcher came into the world.
No word yet on when Blood Origin will hit Netflix or who will appear on the show. However, the writer of season one will be its showrunner. As well as exploring the story of the very first Witcher, Blood Origin will also tell the tale of how the elven world fell and detail the arrival of humans. Chances are it will be a must-see for Witcher fans, but also very different from what they are familiar with.

New York Giants Sign Andrew Thomas To $32.345 Million Rookie Contract

The New York Giants and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas have reached an agreement on a rookie contract as training camp continues to draw closer.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thomas and the Giants reached an agreement on a four-year, $32.345 million deal. It includes a signing bonus of $21.1 million, per Rapoport.
With Thomas now signed, 29 of the 32 first-round draft selections have signed their first NFL contracts. Only Joe Burrow (first overall to the Cincinnati Bengals), Jordyn Brooks (27th overall to the Seattle Seahawks) and Isaiah Wilson (29th overall to the Tennessee Titans) have yet to sign their rookie deals.
Over the past two weeks, a plethora of 2020 draft picks signed their rookie contracts. The vast majority of 2020 draft selections are now under contract as teams prepare for the start of training camp.
Thomas was drafted fourth overall by the Giants. The former Georgia star was the first offensive lineman selected in a class that was extremely deep in that area.
Five other offensive tackles were taken in the first round: Jedrick Wills (10th overall to the Cleveland Browns), Mekhi Becton (11th overall to the New York Jets), Tristan Wirfs (13th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Austin Jackson (18th overall to the Miami Dolphins) and the aforementioned Wilson.

Thomas, who was earned First-team All-SEC honors in 2018 and 2019, joins a Giants offense that includes superstar running back Saquon Barkley and second-year quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants allowed 43 sacks last season, but they have every reason to believe that Thomas will improve that unit here in 2020.
The Giants have missed the playoffs in each of the last three years. They overhauled their coaching staff after the regular season, firing head coach Pat Shurmur. They hired former New England Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge as his replacement, and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was hired as the offensive coordinator.
If the Giants are to turn things around in 2020, the offense as a whole must improve. Having Thomas in the fold will go a long way in achieving that goal.
