Intel Showcases Sapphire Rapids Plus HBM Xeon Performance at ISC 2022

Alongside today’s disclosure of the Rialto Bridge accelerator, Intel is also using this week’s ISC event to deliver a brief update on Sapphire Rapids, the company’s next-generation Xeon CPU which is shipping later this year. While Intel has been beating the drum for their forthcoming, 4th Generation Xeon Scalable chip for a while, we have yet to hear anything of significance about its expected performance – particularly in the HPC space. So ahead of its formal launch a bit later this year, Intel is finally talking a bit about the expected performance of the HBM-equipped version of the chip, which is aimed in particular at the HPC/supercomputing crowd.

Intel’s first tiled Xeon processor, Sapphire Rapids is also Intel’s first CPU to offer optional on-chip HBM memory, which is being dubbed Sapphire Rapids Plus HBM. The addition of 64GB of HBM2e makes it a fairly complex and expensive chip, but also one with access to far more memory bandwidth than any x86 CPU before it. As a result, the chip is of particular interest to a subset of the high-performance compute community, as it offers an alternative route for workloads that aren’t suitable for GPUs, but still need access to vast amounts of memory bandwidth.

As part of their ISC presentation today, Intel is releasing two slides with performance figures for the HBM version of Sapphire Rapids (Sapphire Rapids Plus HBM). The idea here is to show off the combination of architecture improvements – and in particular, the dedicated accelerator blocks – combined with using 64GB of HBM2e memory to keep those blocks well fed. The pre-production processors are being compared to Intel’s Xeon Platinum 8380 (Ice Lake-SP) chips.

Bearing in mind that these are going to be cherry-picked performance figures, Intel is seeing anywhere between a 2x speed-up in things like the WRF weather forecasting model, to over a 3x improvement for the CloverLeaf Euler equation solver. Both of which are somewhat narrow use cases, but important ones for the HPC market segment.

Sapphire Rapids Plus HBM is due to be released alongside the rest of the Sapphire Rapids family later this year. According to Intel’s current roadmaps, it is due for a successor in the 2023 timeframe, before the entire HBM-equipped Xeon lineup is due to be rolled into the Falcon Shores XPU in 2024.

These 8 Celebs Still Are Still Waiting For Their Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Getting your name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame isn’t as easy as one might think. Each year a committee selects 30 names from a list of nominated individuals in a variety of categories: Motion Picture, Television, Radio, Recording, Live Theatre/Performance and Sports Entertainment.

The criteria to be inducted includes professional achievement, career longevity, contributions or charity work and a promise to attend the dedication ceremony if selected.

In 2022, actors Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek are scheduled as well as Francis Ford Coppola and child star Macaulay Culkin. The late actor Ray Liotta is scheduled for this year and musical stars like the Black-Eyed Peas, DJ Khaled and others should be added to Hollywood Blvd. in the coming months.

Surprisingly, there are some actors and actresses that boast a string of hit films or albums and have yet to claim their star among 2,600 peers. Some have turned down the opportunity, yet others have yet to be offered one.

Check out the list of celebrities (and their current net worth) still waiting for their Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

8 James Earl Jones – $40 Million

The voice of Darth Vader doesn’t have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? That’s right, despite Jones’ lengthy theatre work, starring in films like Coming to America with Eddie Murphy and then using his deep, commanding voice in the original Star Wars trilogy and again in Disney’s animated The Lion King, Jones has yet to celebrate the traditional star.

7 Christopher Walken – $50 Million

The unique star with a distinctive voice has been in numerous films from Catch Me if You Can with Leonardo DiCaprio to Click with Adam Sandler. He’s shown a wide variety of skills ranging in drama, comedy and action but Walken has yet to claim the recognition for the famous star, however, he did take home an Oscar for Best Actor in The Deer Hunter in 1979. With a long-lasting career like Walken’s, it seems likely his turn is around the corner.

6 Meg Ryan – $85 Million

According to Best Life Online, one of America’s original sweethearts and star of 80’s and 90’s rom com’s is still waiting for her star. Ryan appeared in several films opposite actor Tom Hanks and brought films like You’ve Got Mail and Kate and Leopold to the big screen. Though she’s taken a step back in retirement, fans still ask that the superstar is recognized for her work that has affected generations.

5 Angelina Jolie – $120 Million

According to Newsweek, the Girl, Interrupted star has not only amassed a large list of successful films, she has also written and directed films like Land of Blood and Honey and Unbroken. If the Walk of Fame is looking for humanitarian efforts, Jolie certainly checks that box as she’s served as an ambassador for UNHCR and co-founded the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

4 Richard Gere – $120 Million

A star that has been basically exiled from Hollywood due to political opinions regarding China probably won’t be seeing any star invitations soon. However, Gere was the go-to leading man in the 80’s and 90’s with hits like Pretty Woman, Chicago and Runaway Bride. He’s frequently paired with co-star Julia Roberts (who also doesn’t have a star but is planning a ceremony soon) and Diane Lane. A Buddhist and a huge advocate for human rights in Tibet, Gere may prefer to fight his humanitarian duties over recognition from Hollywood anyway.

3 Brad Pitt – $300 Million

He first caught audiences’ attention as the young man in Thelma and Louise but has brought us many other hits over the years such as Fight Club, Oceans Eleven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button alongside Cate Blanchett and others. Frequent co-stars include Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Blanchett and with several award nominations, Pitt took home his first Oscar in 2020 for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, so perhaps the Walk of Fame committee will be calling soon.

2 Taylor Swift – $400 Million

The American singer and songwriter was discovered at age 15 and her skyrocket to stardom hasn’t leveled out yet. Her songwriting and subsequent hits like Love Story, You Belong with Me and Shake it Off has produced a fan following who wouldn’t believe the young artists hasn’t received her star as of yet. With 10 Grammy’s, numerous No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and even an Emmy, it’s safe to say her day is coming.

1 Rihanna – $1.7 Billion

She doesn’t need attention in the financial department. The richest female musician in the world was originally found by Jay-Z through a demo tape and led to hits like Umbrella and Take Care. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the superstar donated $8 million to support coronavirus relief in 2020 and has given more than $2 million to help abuse victims in Los Angeles among other charities.

Not all stars have been skipped over. Actors Denzel Washington, Al Pacino and singer Bruce Springsteen all failed to set a ceremony date or to even show up. Clint Eastwood and Prince both turned down the opportunity. However, many stars are still waiting their turn and the 2023 list is beginning to form right now.

The Cuban Way: These Are Mark Cuban's Most Profitable Business Investments Ever

"Number one rule of investing: When you don't know what to do, do nothing." That may sound counterproductive to some, but this is the advice given by one of the most financially successful self-made multi-billionaires in the world, Mark Cuban. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in July 1958, Cuban has had aspirations of big business ever since the age of 12, when his first venture was came selling garbage bags to save for an expensive pair of basketball shoes. He ran a number of other small business ventures before attending the University of Pittsburgh, then transferring to the Indiana University in Bloomington, where he would graduate from the Kelley School of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in management. Cuban is a leader among the list of other super-successful entrepreneurs in his category, such as Barbara Corcoran, Vera Wang, Richard Branson, and Adam Green. But how did this hard-working, tenacious investor go from sleeping on the floor of an apartment to having a net worth of $4.7 billion? Here are some of Mark Cuban's most profitable business investments ever!

Besides the establishment of his own audio net company, MicroSolutions, which he sold to another online service provider called CompuServe for $6 million in 1990, Cuban has since then made many wise investments that have turned over major cash. The Shark Tank reality TV star made an investment for a 30 percent stake in a stand-up paddleboard startup called Tower Paddle Boards. The paddleboard company was founded in 2010 by Stephan Aarstol and attracted the eye of Cuban while he was on season 3 of Shark Tank and has remained a subsidiary of Mark Cuban Companies (MCC). He invested $150,000 in 2012 and due to Mark Cuban's appearance on Shark Tank, the company received some decent exposure and generated $60,000 in orders as a result. However, it wasn't until 2014 that Tower Paddle Boards was named the No. 1 fastest-growing company in San Diego. In 2016, it was put on the "Hot 100" list of the world's most innovative e-retailers.

The founder and CEO of Nut 'N Things, Peter Ferreira, also has a similar entrepreneurial story to Mark Cuban as he began his first entrepreneurial venture as a barber at age 13. Ferreira founded the company in 2010 as a company that specializes in creating nut butter containing flaxseed and that is high in protein. In addition to its superb nutritional benefits, it also comes in a variety of tasty flavors, such as mint chocolate chip or spiced pumpkin pie, according to Inc.com. While it may not register as the most advanced vegan food on the planet, the company's products are a great source of protein without having to consume meat. While on Shark Tank, Cuban and Robert Herjavec partnered to invest $250,000 for a 35% share of the company. Cuban lists this as one of his best investments on Shark Tank as the company grossed more than $30 million in sales in 2018. That's what you call money well spent!

Cuban prefers to put his money up for a stake in a company as opposed to his own neck, even though the amount he invests can make him appear in over his head. And if you knew the company he invested $2 million in for a 20% share of the company, the comparison would make a lot more sense! In 2013, one of Cuban's biggest investments while on his five seasons on Shark Tank was for CEO Melissa Carbone's horror attraction company, Ten Thirty-One Productions. The company was founded back in 2009 with the intent of it becoming the largest haunted hayride in Los Angeles, according to Business Insider. The company's spooky products and services have been making major bank during the Halloween season. Cuban even told Business Insider that the company is among the few he has invested in that clocks around $500,000 annually in profits.

From the rapper Jay-Z owning the Brooklyn Nets to the basketball legend Michael Jordan owning The Chicago bulls, it's not uncommon for the rich to put their investments into a major league sport like soccer, basketball, NFL football, or even professional boxing. And Cuban is no exception to the list. Early on in the year 2000, he bought a majority stake in the NBA's Dallas Mavericks from real estate developer and businessman, H. Ross Perot Jr., for $285 million. In a Forbes interview with NBA All-Star Chris Paul, Cuban tells of how he managed to go from a courtside fan to the owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team. Since Cuban's takeover of the team, they won the 2011 NBA Finals and began a road to redemption, led by the Pittsburgh hustler himself.

D. L. Hughley Claps Back At Mo’Nique Over Contract Dispute: “It’s YOU!”

D. L. Hughley has clapped back at Mo’Nique after the comedian called him out during a stand-up gig over the weekend. While onstage at the Fox Theater in Detroit, Mo’Nique shocked fans when she claimed D. L. refused to take the stage after her, despite signing a contract stipulating that she would be the headliner—but D. L. fired back—telling the comedian that people paid money to laugh, not hear about her contract.

During her diatribe on Saturday, Mo’Nique said that she specifically signed onto the show as the headline act and accused D. L. of threatening not to perform if he had to follow her.

“That's what the mother--king contract says. Mo'Nique is to be the last mother--king person on the god damn stage. She is the headliner. That's what I signed the contract for," Mo’Nique shouted.

The Precious actress then inexplicably waded into a homophobic rant, even though D. L. is happily married to a woman with whom he shares three children.

“N--ga, your name is D.L., what the f--k does it stand for?" She angrily spouted. "How far are you bending over n--ga? On the DL.”

The DL Hughley Show host wasn’t here for it and quickly shot back on Instagram.

“All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused,” Hughley wrote. “Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique.”

Oprah was the problem,” he continued. “Tyler Perry was the problem, Charlamagne was the problem, Steve Harvey was the problem, Lee Daniels was the problem, Netflix was the problem… Now it’s MY turn.”

The comedian concluded: “At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!! Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique… People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract. Apparently, the role you played in PRECIOUS turned out to be an autobiography. I wonder who’s next…”

The former Dancing with the Stars contestant cheekily paired his response with a picture of Mo’Nique in her role as the antagonist in Precious.

When Portman was only 10 years old, she was spotted by Revlon agent while they were at a pizza restaurant. The agent asked if she wanted to be a child model however she turned down the offer. Although she turned down the modeling offer, she used that opportunity to get her acting agent.

When Portman was about eleven years old, she had her first acting audition for the musical off-Broadway Ruthless!, a story about a girl who will do whatever it takes to get the lead role in a school play. At that time, Portman together with Britney Spears were chosen to be the understudies for the selected star Laura Bell Bundy. After six months, Portman went on to audition for Luc Besson's action drama Léon: The Professional where she got the lead role. In order to protect her privacy, she used the maiden name of her paternal grandmother, Portman to be her stage name. She played the role of Mathilda in the 1994 film who is an orphan kid who befriended a middle-aged hitman.

Initially her parents were adamant to let her take the role because of the explicit violent and sexual content of the film’s script however they were convinced by Besson when he the nudity and killings committed by Portman’s character were taken out. Portman also believed that after her violent scenes were removed, there would nothing objectionable about the film. After filming for the film, she went back to school and continued studying however during the summer break of 1994 she filmed for another film titled Developing by Marya Cohn. Portman has balanced her studies and career, she starred in yet another film titled Heat as the suicidal stepdaughter of Al Pacino's character. At the time, she was in her senior year in High School and at the time, she had no idea about the film and watched the trilogy before she filmed for the movie. After the movie finished, she was not able to attend the premiere of the film because she had to study for her finals. The film went on to gross about $924 million worldwide which made her a phenomenal global star.

She starred in two more films before laying low in the industry in 2000 as she began attending Harvard University to get her bachelor's degree in psychology. As she really loves acting, she began starring in Broadway drama The Seagull in the summer of 2001 where she co-starred with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The following year, she reprises her role in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones which was filmed in London and Sydney during the summer break. When she was asked about balancing her studies and career, she said that she would rather be a smart woman than a star and she does care if her studies ruin her career. She finally graduated from Harvard University in 2003.

After graduating from Harvard, she went on to star in numerous films through-out her career. One of the favorite films she did was The Other Boleyn Girl where she starred with American actress Scarlett Johansson; Portman said that was excited by this rare opportunity to work alongside another actress her age. She went on to direct film as well, and her directorial debut is for the short film titled Eve. Cardi B Shares Insane Video Of Multi-Million Dollar Yacht Sinking

Cardi B was kicking it with her husband Offset in Cabo for a Memorial Day weekend vacation when a multi-million-dollar yacht started to disappear into the ocean right before her eyes. The Bodak Yellow rapper sounded shocked as she watched the boat slip below the surface—and her viral commentary of the moment is making waves online.

The Grammy Award winner posted footage of a yacht as it slipped into the sea outside her luxury vacation villa over the weekend. The I Like It rapper could be heard shouting during the 45-second clip shared to her 22.8 million followers on Twitter.

Cardi captioned the short video: “I can’t believe I’m actually watching a yacht sink”

In the clip, the stern of the large white yacht is submerged in the ocean, while the bow appears to be resting on the rocks outside of Cardi's oceanside room. Eventually, the stern goes under—dragging the rest of the boat with it—never to be seen again.

"What the f—. Oh my ... It's sinking! Y'all see that? Y'all see that?" a horrified Cardi exclaimed in the clip. "Oh my god, they can't do nothing about it. There ain't no big boat that can save it? It's gone! It's gone! Bye-bye! Bye ... Oh my god, it's gone!"

Cardi clarified that there weren’t any passengers or crew on the boat when it went down, writing, “A whole yacht sinked in front of our face. Luckily no one was in there.”

The Invasion of Privacy artist later shared a follow-up clip, where she explained that a search team had arrived to investigate the sinking. According to Cardi, however, that yacht had already sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

“Update, y’all. So, there’s a search team looking for the boat. I just saw like a scuba diver went down there. The s---t is in bikini bottom,” she said as she laughed about the whole incident. “That b---h long is long gone! Spongebob is auctioning that b---h!”

It's not clear what caused the boat to sink, but the mishap will likely set whoever owned it back a few million—as a private yacht like this one doesn't come cheap.

Mona Lisa Attacked: Cake-Tossing Culprit Vandalizes Priceless Painting

Visitors to the Louvre art gallery in Paris witnessed a stunning scene on Sunday when a man dressed as an elderly woman leaped from his wheelchair and threw cake at the Mona Lisa. The world’s most famous painting was left unscathed by the attacker, who attempted to break the glass protecting the artwork before security managed to take him down.

The shocking moment occurred moments before the Louvre was set to close on Sunday night. Witnesses say a man disguised as an elderly woman wearing a wig rolled past the 519-year-old painting before darting to his feet and launching a cake at Leonardo da Vinci's famous masterpiece.

Witnesses say the man then tried to smash the bullet-proof glass protecting the portrait of Lisa del Giocondo to no avail—before smearing icing all over it instead. He then threw roses everywhere before security tackled him.

"The man tried to smash the glass protecting the painting, and – when it didn’t break –smeared a cake across its surface," said an investigating source. "He did not cause any damage after leaping up from his wheelchair. It was pretty clear to everyone that he was a man pretending to be an old woman."

"Think of the earth, people are destroying the earth", the pie-tossing protester said as security from the Paris gallery led him away. "All artists think of the earth. That's why I did it."

A video shared online showed a Louvre staffer cleaning the glass following the attack by the cake-tossing culprit. The priceless painting did not receive any damage from the dessert-wielding demonstrator—thanks to the 1.52-inch-thick glass protecting the canvas.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time protesters have attacked the canvas to draw awareness to various causes. In 1956, a man splashed sulfuric acid on the painting as it hung at a museum in Montauban.

In 2011, a Russian woman tossed a cup of tea at the painting following a denial of her citizenship request by the French government. The protective glass received minor damage, but the painting remained unscathed.

The Mona Lisa is among the world's most valuable pieces of art. The painting holds a record for having the highest known painting insurance valuation in history at $100 million in 1962.  equivalent to $870 million in 2021.
