The company launched a 4TB version in this lineup in mid-January for the EU market. Samsung is officially bringing over the new capacity SKU to the North American market today. From Script To Screen: These Are The 10 Richest Screenwriters In Hollywood

Have you ever wondered whose genius minds were responsible for screenwriting some of Hollywood's most spectacular movies? Sure, you may be used to people singing the praises of some of Hollywood's most talented and successful directors, such as Jurassic Park's Steven Spielberg, the Avatar film series director James Cameron, Rob Zombie, and Tim Burton. Movie producers also get to steal a lot of the shine as well, and sometimes, such as in the case of Bradley Cooper, they wear the hats of both the producer and the lead actor. But screenwriters are often overlooked, despite the importance of their written work being the very content needed to create the dialogue, characters, and storyline of the script. For all their amazing effort, here are the 10 richest screenwriter in Hollywood, ranked.

10 Chuck Lorre - $600 Million

It feels good to know tat writers, although they often occupy a behind-the-scenes role and tend to shine a lot more out of the spotlight, can become just as successful as movie stars and directors, even surpassing them in some instances. Such is the case with writer Chuck Lorre, who actually began using his talents to pursue a career as a songwriter and musician. According to Celebrity Net Worth, He also wrote the soundtrack for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television show in 1987 before shifting his focus to writing television scripts.

This led to Lorre creating, writing, and producing his own sitcoms such as Two and A Half Men starring Hollywood actors Ashton Kutcher and playboy Charlie Sheen, as well as The Big Bang Theory, Mike and Molly, and Young Sheldon. His way with words has earned him a remarkable $600 million net worth.

9 Seth Macfarlane - $300 Million

While more than one Hollywood celebrity carries the name "Seth," Seth Macfarlane shouldn't be mistaken for Seth Rogen, the Canadian actor. While Seth Macfarlane also wears the hat of an actor, he is also the brain behind the creation, animation, and screenwriting of some of the most watched television animation sitcoms in history, namely Family Guy and American Dad. When it first aired in 1999, Family Guy had secured over 12 million viewers for that year, although it has been steadily declining in viewers ever since its 2011 viewer rating of 7.3 million.

Macfarlane has also directed and starred in movies such as Ted (2012) and Ted 2 (2015) also starring Mark Wahlberg, as well as A Million Ways to Die In The West, starring himself, Charlie Theron, and Liam Neeson. His writing and acting has earned him a net worth of $300 million.

8 David E. Kelley - $250 Million

Some successful screenwriters start off with a completely different agenda, such as David E. Kelley, for example, whose profession of choice was law. Born in Waterville, Maine on April 4th, 1956, he attended Princeton University where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science. He then went to the Boston University Law School and earned a Juris Doctor. But it was in 1983 that a legal thriller he was writing would be adapted into a screenplay and become the comedy-drama, From The Hip, starring actor Judd Nelson.

He was then hired as a staff writer for L.A. Law under producer Steven Bochco in 1986. And by 1992, he and Bochco co-created David E. Kelley Productions, which produced its first series, Picket Fences. His other projects were Chicago Hope, The Practice, All McBeal, Boston Public, Boston Legal, an Goliath to name a few. His net worth as a writer and producer is $250 million.

7 Joss Whedon - $100 Million

Generational wealth doesn't always have to look like a string of profitable business investments that you've left behind for your children and grandchildren. Sometimes, generational wealth can be a talent, such as painting, carpentry, pottery sculpting, or, in the case of Joss Whedon, writing. Born Joseph Hill Whedon, he is a third-generation TV writer and the son of Tom Whedon, who was also a screenwriter and producer for sitcoms like The Golden Girls and Alice.

In the early stages of his career, Joss wrote for the Roseanne series, starring actor John Goodman, Roseanna Barr, and Sara Gilbert before his script for Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie was sold. He then turned the movie into The Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series (1997-2001). His other creations include the series Angel, Western Firefly starring Gina Torres and Nathan Fillion, the Alien Resurrections science fiction film, Serenity, The Office, Dollhouse, and even wrote and directed the superhero film The Avengers! His combined efforts as a screenwriter, producer, and director has earned his a net worth of $100 million.

6 Aaron Sorkin - $90 Million

Aaron Sorkin is another example of a Hollywood legend who amassed his $90 million fortune from behind the scenes, holding the office of a playwright, screenwriter, and film director. But like most, he stumbled upon his passion for writing while doing odd jobs like bartending, driving a limousine, and house-sitting, the latter of which is where he found an IBM typewriter and fell in love with writing.

According to The Things, the hit drama thriller that put the spotlight on Sorkin was 1992's A Few Good Men, starring the legendary actor Jack Nicholson, Tom Cruise, Cuba Gooding Jr., and actress Demi Moore. He also wrote the screenplay for Malice (1993) starring Nicole Kidman and Alec Baldwin, as well as The American President (1995), Excess Baggage (1997) starring Alicia Silverstone and the veteran Christopher Walken, Moneyball (2011) starring Brad Pitt, and Steve Jobs (2015), a biopic based on the life of Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs. He is also credited with creating his own television series, Sports Night, the political drama The West Wing, and many other popular television series.

5 Adam McKay - $40 Million

Undoubtedly, Adam McKay is one of the most talented, prolific, and hilarious screenwriters and comedians in Hollywood. McKay is such a gifted writer that the first job of his career was as the head writer for the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) at only 27 years old.

He gained real recognition in the 2000s after partnering with comedian Will Ferrell to form Gary Sanchez Productions. From their union, they produced a slew of comedy films each starring Will Ferrell, such as Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby featuring fellow screenwriter and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Step Brothers featuring actor/comedian John C. Reilly, and The Other Guys featuring action star Mark Wahlberg.

He has also produced films like Daddy's Home, The Big Short, Land of The Lost, and many others. According to HollywoodsMagazine, his most recent film, Don't Look Up, for which McKay wore the hats of director, producer, and screenplay writer, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay in 2022.

4 David Koepp - $35 Million

David Koepp might not have come from a long line of screenplay writers and directors, but we'll assume that his father's billboard advertising company might've helped to influence his decision to graduate with a bachelor's degree in film from UCLA. Despite having a net worth of $35 million, which is a long shot from Chuck Lorre's massive fortune, he is regarded the ninth most successful screenwriter of all time in terms of the U.S. box office receipts from his movies, which grossed over $2.5 billion.

Some of the most notable films written by Koepp include director Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull starring actor Harrison Ford, the megastar Al Pacino's Carlito's Way, Mission Impossible and War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise, and Premium Rush starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the dynamic actor Michael Shannon to name a few.

3 Terry Rossio - $20 Million

Terry Rossio may not be as talked about as many of the screenwriters mentioned on this list, but that doesn't mean he's any less talented or that his work is aby less successful. Terry was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and immediately went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts in Communications as California State University, specifically in radio, film, and television. His big break came in 1992 when Rossio and his writing partner, Ted Elliott, wrote the animated comedy Aladdin, which grossed a whopping $504 million worldwide.

His other films include The Puppet Masters (1994) starring Canadian actor Donald Sutherland and Keith David, the Mask of Zorro (1998) starring Antonio Banderas, the Shrek franchise, National Treasure: Book of Secrets starring Nicholas Cage, and the Pirates of The Caribbean film franchise. With a salary of between $750,000 to $3 million per movie, Rossio now has a net worth of $20 million.

2 Shane Black - $16 Million

By now, it's clear that most screenwriters also simultaneously fit the roles of film director and movie producer. Shane Black executes all of these functions as well. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in December 1961, Black had been writing comic strips, short stories, and journalism for as long as he could remember. And it was his screenwriting that would get his foot in Hollywood's door. Twentieth Century Fox solicited his services for rewriting scripts, but it didn't take long before he gave them an original action film script, which would later become Lethal Weapon starring actor/director Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

Black then landed a role in the science fiction action film, Predator, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. His next box office hit would be The Last Boy Scout starring Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans, which earned him $1.75 million. He would go on to receive $4 million for writing The Long Kiss Goodnight, starring action Samuel L. Jackson and Geena Davis. To date, Shane Black has a net worth of $16 million.

1 Jane Goldman - $7 Million

As the only woman on this list of screenwriters, Jane Goldman's name is worthy to be mentioned, despite the fact that her net worth is the lowest at $7 million. Jane was born to a middle-class family in northern England and at the age of nineteen, became a freelance writer who wrote for magazines and newspapers such as Cosmopolitan, The Times, Evening Standard, Game Zone, and Sega Zone to name a few. She also wrote a series of books as well as her first and only novel, Dreamworld, before making the switch to screenwriting in 2001.

Together with producer and director Matthew Vaughn, she wrote the screenplay for Stardust in 2007, starring Claire Danes and Charlie Cox. Her most impactful projects include Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class starring James McAvoy, the lovely Jennifer Lawrence, and actor Kevin Bacon; Kingsman: The Secret Service starring the British acting sensation Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and Samuel L. Jackson, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle featuring actresses Julianne Moore and Halle Berry, and Channing Tatum.

Kim Kardashian Gets Restraining Order After Stalker Sends Her Diamond Ring

Kim Kardashian is known for loving expensive jewelry, but she wasn’t impressed after a fan sent her a diamond ring.

According to TMZ, the reality star has been granted a restraining order against Jomonie Victor Zigler, after he tried making contact with her on several occasions.

RELATED: $12.8 Million Was Stolen From Usain Bolt’s Bank Account

Jomonie reportedly first attempted to approach Kim in December by showing up at her house, though he was stopped by security. He also turned to social media, where he made a series of explicit posts about the reality star, even referring to her as his “wife.”

Moreover, Jomonie tried to send a series of gifts to Kim, including a diamond ring as well as keys to his hotel room.

These incidents led to a judge agreeing to sign off on a temporary restraining order. Jomonie is scheduled to appear in court next month, where the future of the restraining order will be determined.

Jomonie reportedly has a criminal history involving firearms and threats, which factored into the judge’s decision.

This isn’t the first time Kim has been granted a restraining order against a stalker. In 2021, she faced a similar incident when Charles Peter Zelenoff tried to approach her, even attempting to give her a diamond ring, like Jomonie. After Charles allegedly stalked her for months, Kim was granted a permanent restraining order.

Kim may have turned down Jomonie’s diamond ring, but she recently added a new piece to her jewelry collection – a cross pendant that was formerly worn by Princess Diana.

The SKIMS founder picked up the unique piece at an auction held by Sotheby’s for a cool $197,000. It features 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds.

Princess Diana wore the necklace on multiple occasions in the ‘80s, including Birthright’s 1987 London charity gala. However, she didn’t own the piece. It was lent to her by a friend, Naim Attallah CBE, formerly the chief executive of Asprey & Garrard.

Kim’s recent purchase made international headlines, but not always for the right reasons. She’s faced criticism on social media over the sheer price of the pendant.

A series of memes referred to as “Kim Kardashian has purchased” or “Kim Kardashian buys” began circulating on Twitter, joking about a variety of nonsensical things the reality star would spend big money on.

For instance, one of the fictitious memes said shed spent $500,000 on Martin Scorsese’s iconic eyebrows.

But with 5 carats of diamonds around her neck, we doubt Kim is listening too loudly to the online haters.

Here’s What Led To The Downfall Of NBA Star Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons is a professional Australian basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association. His net worth is estimated to be around $8 million.

Ben Simmons started professional basketball six years ago and signed a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, which is set to expire soon. The deal with the Sixers was worth $177.2 million and was signed in 2019. He earned roughly $26 million per year with the 76ers for three years. A $20 million per year deal is expected with another basketball team. He recently signed a $20 million brand endorsement contract with Nike, which has catapulted his earnings to $40 million.

His earnings were seriously affected when he was ordered to pay a fine of $227,613 for every game he missed with the Sixers in the 2021-22 preseason games. Hence his total net worth dropped to $8 million.

The Australian-born 6 ft-10 guard started playing basketball at seven, representing the Newcastle Hunters under-12 team. In 2013 he moved to Florida and played basketball for the Montverde Academy. He entered the professional league in 2016 and signed a contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Guardian, Ben was compared to the legendary Lebron James when he first showcased his talent in the game season. By the end of the second season (2018-19), the Sixers gave a $177 million contract extension for five years. This was despite his disappearance from the first NBA season due to a foot injury.

RELATED: Here's How Aubrey Plaza Became A Hollywood Star

According to Complex, the Sixers were supposed to pay $33 million for the 2021-22 season. During the offseason, he had already received an advance of $16.5 million. In mid-November 2022, fines were imposed for his lack of consistency in the game and constant absence. The Philadelphia 76ers refused to pay any check to the star player due to his negligence and arrogance. The amount tuning to $8.2 million was put in an escrow account, and the fines were collected from this account for every game he missed. Simmons then asked for a trade from the Sixers while refusing to appear for any basketball training camp.

According to CBS Sports, a trade talk turned sour during the 2021 season when the Sixers were ready to get James Harden into the team. He was later traded to Brooklyn Nets, and this incident didn't go down well with Ben, who thought another player could easily replace him. During the postseason, his performance dwindled against Washington in the first-round season. It deteriorated further during the second round with Atlanta. In a series of seven games, he did not attempt a single shot in the fourth quarter of five games. Just before the Olympic play, Ben left the team and focused on enhancing his skills. The Sixers again opened trade talks with a high asking price against Simmons.

In September 2021, he refused to appear for training sessions and openly talked about being traded for another team. He missed the Philadelphia 76ers media day on purpose, and another training camp showcased his absence between 28th September to 3rd October 2021. The Sixers expressed their frustration during a team meeting regarding his continuous contract violation. On 1st October 2021, the Sixers decided not to pay him his dues, amounting to $8.25 million. Instead, they set up an escrow account to deduct fine charges from the withheld remuneration for every game missed.

The preseason games opened on 4th October 2021 against the Toronto Raptors and followed with a second game on 7th October. Simmons did not appear for both games and was fined $227,613 for each game. Consequently, he missed the other preseason games, including Detroit's finals. Although he reluctantly returned to the team due to the monetary punishment on 11th October, the whole season ended up getting fined. He was booted from practice and suspended from one game after his return due to malpractice and ill temperament toward his teammates. The 21-22 campaign began without Ben against the Pelicans in New Orleans; he was suspended.

He appealed under the contract clause of mental health, and the fines levied against him by the Sixers were stopped temporarily. It resumed when he did not report to the mental health resources offered to him by the team. Instead, the professional NBA player sought help from NBPA, thus violating the terms of the contract again. He refused to share details of the treatment with the Sixers leading to more fines. It led to the Philadelphia 76ers now reprimanding him over missed strength training, film, and practice sessions. Things escalated, and Simmons refused to play for the team again. His agent Rich Paul tried to intervene with the Sixers but to no effective conclusion. According to ESPN, the All-star guard was traded for James Harden and transferred to Brooklyn Nets. The contract assures $113.6 million if he remains in top form for the Nets.

Ben Simmons hasn't played a single game since 20th June 2021, till being traded for the Brooklyn Nets due to mental health issues and recurring back problems. His career is an ongoing controversial mess, and his net worth has plunged to a mere $8 million due to the fines levied during his absence.

Surprisingly, Ted Danson is quite good at comedy and some of his best-known works today are actually comedy, he is also good at drama and even has a work to that effect called Something About Amelia. He went up a step on his career ladder when he starred in the short CBS sitcom, Ink barely 3 years after Cheers and in that same year, he also starred in the television series, Gulliver’s Travels.

His career growth proved to be progressive as he was featured in the CBS sitcom Becker which was produced by the same company that produced Cheers; Paramount Television. Becker lasted for about 6 years and it was during this time he got awarded with a star on the Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

Danson seems to have taken a short career break of two years but he returned and in the same year that he returned, he got a nomination for Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Movie. The following year saw Danson starring in an FX Network drama, Damages, a role he executed so well that it earned him a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

This celebrated millionaire who is worth about $80 million went on to star in the popular HBO sitcom, Bored to Death where commentators will often opine that Danson was the best part of the sitcom as his character was a “scene stealer”. 2011 saw Ted Danson starring in a CBS Police Drama, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. His role was executed perfectly and 2 years later, he was seen signing a deal to extend his stay on CSI for 2 more years and this extended his role to a product of CSI: Cyber which aired for only two seasons.

There was no stopping Danson now and he didn’t plan to stop anytime soon as 2015 saw him emerging in the second season of Fargo and the following year, he co-starred with Kristen Bell in The Good Place for which has also gotten numerous nominations and awards. One of his most recent works still remains his main lead role for Mr. Mayor, a sitcom which NBC added to their 2020-2021 TV series.

The 57-year-old Ted Danson has definitely excelled in his television career, making a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s most loved veterans and surely, there must be more to expect from him. He has also been in the news for negative and non-television related issues like his divorce with his second wife Cassandra Casey Coates which cost him $30 million to earn the title of one of the most expensive celebrity divorces of all time. He and his current wife own several luxurious estates including a $3.5 million home in Santa Monica, 6-acre numerous residences spread on Martha’s Vineyard and a small cottage in Nashville amongst many others.

Apart from television and Hollywood, Danson is also passionate about the environment and its preservation including the state of the world’s Oceans which has influenced him into becoming one of the key organizers and a board member of the American Oceans Campaigns. Little wonder why the first book he ever published was Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans and What We Can Do to Save Them. He is also someone who has interests in politics and was once caught donating over $85,000 to some Democratic candidates including Bill Clinton who happens to be a close friend of Danson’s. He also donated to Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2008.

ASRock Industrial NUCS BOX-1360P/D4 Review: Raptor Lake-P Impresses, plus Surprise ECC

Low-power processors have traditionally been geared towards notebooks and other portable platforms. However, the continued popularity of ultra-compact form-factor desktop systems has resulted in UCFF PCs also serving as lead vehicles for the latest mobile processors. Such is the case with Intel's Raptor Lake-P - the processor SKUs were announced earlier this month at the 2023 CES, and end-products using the processor were slated to appear in a few weeks. Intel is officially allowing its partners to start selling their products into the channel today, and also allowing third-party evaluation results of products based on Raptor Lake-P to be published.

ASRock Industrial announced their Raptor Lake-P-based NUC clones as soon as Intel made the parts public. With the new platform, the company decided to trifurcate their offerings - a slim version (sans 2.5" drive support) with DDR4 SODIMM slots in the NUCS BOX-13x0P/D4, a regular height version with 2.5" drive support in the NUC BOX-13x0P/D4, and a slightly tweaked version of the latter with DDR5 SODIMM slots in the NUC BOX-13x0P/D5. The NUCS BOX-1360P is the company's flagship in the first category, and the relative maturity of DDR4-based platforms has allowed them to start pushing the product into the channel early.

ASRock Industrial sampled us with a NUCS BOX-1360P/D4 from their first production run. We expected a run of the mill upgrade with improvements in performance and power efficiency. In the course of the review process, we found that the system allowed control over a new / key Raptor Lake-P feature that Intel hadn't even bothered to bring out during their CES announcement - in-band ECC. Read on for a comprehensive look at Raptor Lake-P's feature set for desktop platforms with detailed performance and power efficiency analysis.

The 10 Most Expensive Construction Projects Of The 21st Century, Ranked

Large projects are often popular and widely anticipated because they are sure to lead to better transportation, environmental improvements and economic boosts for the area.

Up and coming construction varies from Forest City in Malaysia, set on over 3,000 acres of seagrass, flora and fauna with an estimated completion date by 2035 to the TEN-T Core Network in Europe, designed to create a network of railway lines, roads, waterways and shipping routes at the cost of $600 billion by 2050.

Everything from the Big Dig in Boston to the International Space Station has cost billions of dollars, years of construction and often complicated obstacles but in the end, we look forward to the finished project and the ease of having such a mega-project in the books.

Since 2001, the world can look back at some of the larger buildings, bridges and entertainment spaces of the 21st century and be proud of what they’ve accomplished so far.

10 One World Trade Center – $3.8 Billion

It was highly anticipated; a symbol of sorts for the citizens of New York and the world to watch a building replace the space where the twin towers once stood. What was originally thought to cost around $700 million drastically rose in cost when special security measures were included. The 1,776-foot skyscraper sits on top of a heavily reinforced, windowless podium and a thick core of concrete and steel around its elevator shafts. More so, the building reflects the unity and stamina of a city attacked on Sept. 11, 2001.

9 Marmaray Tunnel – $4.5 Billion

The 47-mile underwater railway tunnel gives Istanbul, Turkey a new rail line as well as a connection point between European and Asian sides of town. The new transportation opened to the public in 2013 and the project was deemed complete in 2019. Known as the deepest immersed tube tunnel in the world, construction was delayed when workers discovered artifacts dating back 8,000 years. Today, the long-awaited tunnel provides efficient transportation and connection for many travelers.

8 Panama Canal Expansion – $5.3 Billion

The Panama Canal was built in the early 1900’s as workers dealt with a list of obstacles. According to How Stuff Works, after working through mudslides and malaria, the project was seen as one of the world’s engineering marvels. As the 21st century approached, an upgrade was needed to accommodate larger transportation and double the cargo traveling through the canal. In 2014, construction halted when a disagreement arose about an additional $1.16 billion cost overrun but the canal finally reopened in 2016.

7 Gotthard Base Tunnel – $23 Billion

It was nearly 20 years in the making but in 2016, the final piece of the Gotthard Base Tunnel was complete, creating a flat track route to move passengers and freight between Zurich, Switzerland and Milan. According to Popular Mechanics, the tunnel dips 7,500 feet below the mountain peaks and eliminates the need for winding mountain routes.

6 Beijing Daxing International Airport – $25 Billion

Designed to be the world’s largest airport terminal by Zaha Hadid, the Beijing terminal can accommodate 100 million passengers per year. It includes seven runways and seven and a half million square feet of space. The airport won awards for best hygiene measures and best in size and region in 2020, including both awards and Voice of the Customer in 2021 by the Airports Council International. The entire project is planned for completion by 2025.

5 California High Speed Rail – $33 Billion

President Barak Obama spurred the support for a high-speed rail project beginning in California and connecting major U.S. Cities along the way. According to Wonders List, the project began in 2015 and the first phase is scheduled to be complete by 2029. The initial portion connects Merced to Bakersfield, eventually linking San Francisco to Los Angeles. They are just getting started and the mega-project is already over the original budget.

4 Songdo International Business District – $40 Billion

One of the most expensive real estate development projects in the world is South Korea’s “smart city”, featuring automatic recycling plants, green building certification and homage to other world landmarks like New York City’s Central Park and Venice’s waterways. The Business District includes the Northeast Asia Trade Tower (South Korea’s tallest building) , G-Tower and the Incheon Tower. Computers have been built into homes, streets and offices as part of a wide area network.

3 Dubailand – $76 Billion

The project will boast one of the largest and most expensive entertainment areas in the world, including a Disney theme park, IMAX theater and other family attractions. Their goal was to increase tourism to the region and the project began in the early 2000’s, however, came to a halt in 2008 due to a financial crisis in Dubai. Construction resumed in 2013.

2 King Abdullah Economic City – $86 Billion

In 2005, the King Abdullah Economic City was announced with anticipation of creating a larger-than-life tourist attraction in Saudi Arabia. Upon completion, the city will include entertainment, top notch hotels, luxury amenities and a massive airport.

1 Kashagan Fields – $116 Billion

The multinational project has partnered Total, Shell, Exxon Mobil, China National Petroleum Corp., INPEX, KazMunaiGas and AgipKCO. The Kashagan Fields represent the largest oil discovery made in the past 40 years and is expected to produce more than 90,000 barrels of oil per day.
