Dad allegedly forced kids to eat soap, do push-ups as punishment

Excruciating exercise and a clean mouth were reportedly what one Kentucky father thought was a suitable punishment for his disobedient kids.

Mount Vernon, Ky., resident James Kidwell was arrested on Monday and charged with criminal abuse.

News outlet WKYT reported from Jan. 24 to 28, Kidwell allegedly forced his two sons, aged 11 and 13, to do push-ups for 30 minutes straight. As a result, one of the kids suffered rug burns.

Further to that, the portly paternal figure allegedly punished his children by making them eat soap. One kid developed a sore in his mouth. The other kid suffered a bruised chest after Kidwell allegedly punched him.

Cops say Kidwell also made his offspring stand about two steps away from a wall and have them lean into it with their foreheads for about 30 minutes.

Kidwell is being held at the Rockcastle County Detention Center on US$10,000 bond.
