Mark Hamill to voice Chucky in ‘Child’s Play’ remake
Mark Hamill is taking over from Brad Dourif as the voice of the evil doll Chucky in the Child’s Play remake.
The Star Wars actor will join Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Henry in the film about a single mother who gives her son a doll possessed by an evil spirit.
“The wicked fun begins when Friday, June 21st 2019. #SoLuckyImChucky,” Hamill writes on Twitter.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character,” a statement from producer David Katzenberg reads. “Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”
Lars Klevberg is directing the remake, which will be based on the original 1988 movie that spawned six sequels. Dourif voiced Chucky in all seven of the previous films.
