MURDER-SUICIDE HORROR: Former Vikings part-owner, wife found dead in mansion

A prominent business owner and the former part-owner of the Minnesota Vikings was found dead next to his wife this week in what police believe to be a murder-suicide.

RadarOnline.com has learned Irwin Jacobs and wife Alexandra were unconscious in their bed with a handgun by their side when a routine visitor walked into their multimillion-dollar mansion and saw them.

“Officers with the Orono Police Department made entry into the home. Upon entering, we found two individuals deceased — one adult male, one adult female — they were both inside the house and a gun was recovered,” Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok said at a press conference. He added that the medical examiner has yet to officially release their identities.

Irwin’s company, Jacobs Management Corp. released their own statement, on behalf of the couple’s five children, confirming the tragedy.

“Our family is shocked and devastated by the death of our parents, Irwin and Alexandra Jacobs,” read the statement issued Wednesday. “We are heartbroken by this loss, and we ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very difficult time.”

Farniok said police believe the alleged murder-suicide is a “contained situation” which poses “no immediate threat to the community.”

“We don’t see this very often — in any of our communities, this doesn’t happen,” he told reporters Wednesday. “We are taking this seriously. We’re looking at it from every aspect.”

Police did not confirm the people’s identities, but Dennis Mathisen, one of Irwin’s longtime business partners, told The Star Tribune that the renowned businessman, likely killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. Both were 77 and had been married for 57 years. According to Mathisen, Alexandra developed signs of dementia and was confined to a wheelchair about one ago. Her condition had Irwin “distraught.”
