TRAIN, SAY YOUR PRAYERS, EAT YOUR VITAMINS: Chris Hemsworth to undergo ‘quite the transformation’ to portray Hulk Hogan

Chris Hemsworth is set to undergo “quite the transformation” to play wrestling legend Hulk Hogan in a biopic.

The Thor: Ragnarok actor was announced as the lead of a new Hulk Hogan movie back in February, and he has now revealed that he’s going to have to put serious time and effort in to transform into the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) legend.

Speaking about the project for the first time, Hemsworth told Balance magazine, “I’m gonna need a hell of a lot of prep time because of the physicality, and it’s something you definitely can’t do half-heartedly, but it will be so much fun. It’s going to be quite the transformation, I’m looking forward to it when it comes along.”

The Australian star also explained that the idea was first conceived as a TV series with director Todd Phillips but ended up turning into a feature film for Netflix.

“I’ve been talking to Todd Phillips for a while now. He brought up the idea and originally it was going to be a TV series,” he continued. “Then we just started riffing one day, coming up with some ideas, and getting pretty excited about what it could be. I haven’t seen the script yet – they’re still writing it – and it’s pretty early days.”

The 35-year-old is no stranger to bulking up for roles as he has done so to play superhero Thor in the Marvel films. During the interview, he admitted he “faced my biggest wall of typecasting” after first playing Thor in 2011 because studio executives thought he could only play a “larger body-building, superhero character”.

However, he got lucky by landing the role of British racing driver James Hunt in 2013’s Rush, and during that shoot, he was told he would make a good James Bond, a part he would love to tackle.

“I don’t think you’ll ever meet anyone who doesn’t want to have a crack at James Bond,” Chris explained.
