The Wait For Season 2 Of The Mandalorian Won't Be As Long As We Feared

Jon Favreau has confirmed that The Mandalorian will return for a second season, and fans of the show have less than a year to wait for it.

TV shows used to follow a formula of sorts. A season would begin in the fall, release an episode per week, and come to an end the following spring. If it returned for another season, it would follow that formula again. Some longer series with more episodes would take a break over the festive season.

While some TV shows do still follow that formula, most march to the beat of their own drum nowadays. That has its positives and its negatives. If the show is on a streaming service then it is often released all at once rather than one episode per week, allowing fans to binge-watch shows should they so choose. However, some bigger budget shows don't release one season per year, making fans wait for longer periods to find out what happens next.

TV shows such as It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and The Good Place tend to stick to annual releases and weekly episodes. However, the worst thing about watching the season finale of a show like Westworld is we have no idea when the next chapter of the story will arrive. That's also how we felt watching the final episode of the first season of The Mandalorian this week.

Thankfully, show creator Jon Favreau didn't leave us feeling like that for long. Not only did Favreau take to Twitter to confirm that The Mandalorian will be getting a second season, but he also revealed that it will be here by Fall, 2020. While he didn't give an exact release date for episode one, we're assuming it'll be at about the same time as season one started back in November.

Credit to Disney, it has hit it out the park when it comes to its first crack at original content for Disney+. Considering the amount of attention and success season one of The Mandalorian has enjoyed, it would have been crazy not to bring it back for a second season. Plus, the service hasn't even been rolled out in any other countries aside from the US thus far, so the best is most definitely yet to come.
