Miami Dolphins Could Be A Landing Spot For Tom Brady [Rumor]

If New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady hits the open market for the first time in his career, he'll be perhaps the most sought-after free agent in NFL history.

Though Brady signed a two-year extension worth $70 million last offseason, the contract was structured in a way that allows him to hit free agency. Both he and head coach have been mum on No. 12's future in Foxborough.

There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams ahead of free agency, and teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been widely linked to the TB12 sweepstakes.

Now, there are rumors going around that the Miami Dolphins -- the Patriots' AFC East foes -- could be in on Brady.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported on Friday that Miami is "the destination that continues to get the most buzz," in regards to the Brady sweepstakes. Florio noted that the Dolphins are loaded with draft picks and could use those to help build a team around Brady.

The Dolphins are also coached by Brian Flores, who spent 15 years with the Patriots (2014 to 2018). He was on staff for four Super Bowl championship teams, and Flores served as the linebackers coach and defensive playcaller for 2018.

Speaking of Patriots' connections, cornerback Eric Rowe played three seasons in New England from 2016 to 2018. So Brady would be familiar with some aspects of the Miami organization if he went there.

And of course, joining the Dolphins would see Brady play his old Patriots team twice a season. That would score massive ratings for the NFL, and it would simply re-energize a division that's lacked parity throughout the 21st century.

Assuming Brady hits free agency, one has to think that he'll mull over his options, rather than making a quick decision. He'll be 43 years of age in August, and his next contract could very well be Brady's last.

Needless to say, the 2020 offseason will be more interesting than any other if the six-time Super Bowl champion hits the open market.
