Dallas Cowboys Have Offered Dak Prescott $105 Million Guaranteed [Rumor]

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is the biggest name in the 2020 free agent class, and time is running out for Jerry Jones and company to ensure that he doesn't hit the open market.

Prescott completed his four-year rookie deal, and the Cowboys have been unable to secure him on a long-term deal. Free agency begins in nine days on March 9, and it'd be quite the offseason story if Prescott wound up entering the market.

And if Prescott doesn't end up re-signing with the Cowboys? Don't accuse Jones of being cheap.

According to a report from Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have offered Prescott "an average salary of $33 million," plus a whopping $105 million guaranteed.

Last month, it was reported that Prescott and the Cowboys were close to agreeing on a lucrative contract extension worth $33 million annually, but he changed his mind and sought more.

It's unknown how much exactly Prescott is seeking in free agency, but this should cause concern among Dallas fans. Teams usually have little issue in extending their Pro Bowl quarterbacks long-term, but the Cowboys haven't been able to lock up their franchise star despite offering him one of the richest contracts in NFL history.

The Cowboys also have two key free agents to deal with: Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper and top cornerback Byron Jones. Given their cap situation, the Cowboys stand to lose at least one of the three stars. The inability to extend Prescott long-term could also hurt their chances of reaching a new deal with Cooper and/or Jones before free agency begins. And both figure to land deals worth well over $15 million annually.

Prescott isn't the only big-named quarterback that could hit the open market. Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater, Philip Rivers, Jameis Winston and Ryan Tannehill are among the other standouts who could find new homes within the next couple of weeks.
