Idris Elba Reveals He Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus
Idris Elba reveals that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus despite not showing any symptoms.
The COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread around the world at an exponential rate in most places. It feels as if we have almost reached the point where everyone and everything on the planet is on hold. On hold to prevent the virus from spreading more quickly than it has to.
It does feel like a fight against the tide in many ways. There’s no stopping the virus, the aim is to simply slow it down. However, when some people hear that it can’t be stopped, or that it only poses a risk to the old and unwell, they think they can carry on as normal. That line of thinking simply isn’t okay. It might take something a little different for those people to understand the severity of the situation.
That something different might be celebrities revealing they have tested positive for COVID-19. Tom Hanks revealed that he and his wife had tested positive last week, and on Monday Idris Elba became the latest famous face to reveal the same news. The MCU star posted a video on social media that he had tested positive and had been self isolating since Friday.
The reason Elba has been held up at home since Friday, despite not testing positive for the virus until Monday, is because he discovered he had been in contact with someone else who had tested positive. Elba even revealed he still hasn't exhibited any symptoms and feels fine, which might be the most worrying thing of all. People might well be walking the streets right now with coronavirus, completely oblivious that they have it due to the fact it hasn't revealed itself yet.
As for Elba, The Brit has assured his fans not to panic as he feels fine. He has also urged others to be pragmatic in order to try and stem the spread of the virus. As mentioned above, it isn't ideal and even a little bit frustrating, but sometimes a celebrity the size of Elba contracting the virus and warning fans can be what it takes for some to take the situation seriously.
