Cleveland Browns Sign Adrian Clayborn To $5.75 Million Contract
After adding two of the biggest names in free agency, the Cleveland Browns landed another impact player on Tuesday.
The Browns are signing former Atlanta Falcons pass rusher Adrian Clayborn to a two-year contract worth $5.75 million, per ESPN's Jake Trotter. Incentives can bump the total value up to $6.75 million.
Cleveland has made plenty of notable signings in free agency, including standout offensive lineman Jack Conklin, Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper and journeyman quarterback Case Keenum.
Clayborn, 31, enjoyed a second stint with the Falcons in 2019. He finished with four sacks, seven quarterback hits and two forced fumbles. In 2018, he won a Super Bowl LII ring with the New England Patriots.
Drafted 20th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011, Clayborn spent four seasons there before joining the Falcons in 2015. He was a key performer on their front seven, and he helped Atlanta reach Super Bowl LI, where they lost to his future Patriots teammates.
Clayborn's best season to date came in 2017 with the Falcons. He logged 9.5 sacks, 17 quarterback hits and two forced fumbles. He has 36.5 sacks in 110 career games, played across nine different seasons.

The veteran pass rusher will join an already stout Cleveland front seven that consists of rising superstar Myles Garrett and veterans Olivier Vernon and Sheldon Richardson. Steve Wilks' unit underachieved as a whole, however, ranking a disappointing 20th in scoring defense (24.6 points per game).
Cleveland fired head coach Freddie Kitchens, and they parted ways with general manager John Dorsey. They were replaced by Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski and Philadelphia Eagles vice president of football operations Andrew Berry, respectively.
The Browns were the offseason darlings last year after adding Vernon, Richardson and superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. via trade, only to finish a disappointing 6-10. But Stefanski and Berry have quickly reshaped a roster that looks poised to compete for a playoff spot in 2010, and Clayborn's championship experience should help immensely.
