David Moore Signs $2.133 Million Tender With Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks managed to get one order of business done four days before the 2020 NFL draft.

Wide receiver David Moore signed his franchise tender on Sunday. The 25-year-old announced the news on his Instagram page.

Per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, Moore will earn $2.133 million for the upcoming 2020 campaign. With Moore signed, it's safe to assume that Seattle won't be shopping for many (if any) receivers at the draft.

Drafted in the seventh round (226th overall) by the Seahawks in 2017, Moore has outperformed his draft position. He produced 26 catches for 445 yards and five touchdowns in 2018, helping the Seahawks return to the playoffs.

Moore caught 17 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns during the 2019 season, another playoff year in Seattle. He has 43 catches for 746 yards and seven touchdowns in his career thus far.

The Seahawks have one of the deepest pass-catching units in the league, so keeping Moore and company together was pivotal for head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider.

Last year, speedster Tyler Lockett led the Seahawks in receiving with 82 receptions for 1,057 yards and eight touchdowns. Rookie D.K. Metcalf had an excellent rookie year with 58 catches for 900 yards and seven touchdowns. Moore finished third in receiving (tight end Jacob Hollister was third with 349).

The Seahawks finished 11-5 on the season, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round. They narrowly fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round, just missing out on a dream NFC Championship match with the NFC West foe San Francisco 49ers.

Seattle still has plenty of work to do on the defensive side of the ball, especially if they don't end up bringing back top pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney. But with Wilson, Metcalf, Lockett, Moore and running back Chris Carson leading the offense, the Seahawks should be a playoff team yet again in 2020.
