James Gunn Is Working From Home On Suicide Squad 2
Despite other movie delays left and right, James Gunn has confirmed he is still working on The Suicide Squad from home.
The movie industry is being hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak. Release dates are getting delayed and production has halted on a number of different future projects. The biggest issue is not knowing when the world will return to normal. Some movies have been given alternate release dates, but chances are those dates could get pushed again.
As for movies being made and filmed right now, that will just be a case of studios being given the go-ahead to open their sets again. Production on The Matrix 4 has stopped, and earlier this week there were reports that Marvel had decided to do the same with Spider-Man 3. The MCU movie was supposed to start filming this summer.
On the DC-side of things, Warner Bros. is in the process of creating Suicide Squad 2, or The Suicide Squad as it has been titled. Lucky for Waner Bros., Suicide Squad is a lot further down the line than Matrix 4 or Spider-Man 3. In fact, filming has finished on the anti-hero centric movie. So what does that mean for its production and potential release date in its current climate?
Well, if director James Gunn's comments are anything to go by, everything is carrying on as normal. Well, as normal as they can be at this time. A fan asked Gunn what he has been up to in order to pass the time and the director revealed he continues to work on The Suicide Squad from home. "Working on The Suicide Squad edit (from home), writing, meditating, exercising, talking with my gf," Gunn tweeted in reply, along with a lot of other things.
In this instance, what's good for DC is also good for its comic book rival Marvel. Once Gunn is done with The Suicide Squad, he will start work on Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Disney's falling out with Gunn has already delayed that movie long enough, the last thing Marvel will want is to have to push its release even further into the future.
