The First 8 Minutes Of Sonic The Hedgehog Is Now Free To Watch Online

The celebrate the early arrival of Sonic the Hedgehog to VOD, Fandango is showing the first eight minutes of the movie for free.

Sonic the Hedgehog hit theaters earlier this year and most people will have been expecting the worst. Whether it be because expectations were so low or because the movie actually turned out to be quite good, Sonic has wound up being a pretty big success. It has gone on to become the highest-grossing video game movie in the US ever.

Despite its three month delay so the iconic hedgehog could be redesigned, Sonic was lucky enough to unknowingly have its theatrical release take place right under the wire in terms of the COVID-19 outbreak. Sonic's box office sales were affected in some parts of the world, but by that point, it had far exceeded all expectations so Paramount and Sega likely won't mind all that much.

Since there's currently no more money to be made for Sonic at the cinema, Paramount has brought forward the release of the movie on VOD. It's available now on Fandango. As for people yet to see the movie and are unsure whether it's worth their time and money, Fandango is showing the first eight minutes of it absolutely free. Whether you have seen the movie or not, you can check it out below.

A lot more happens in the first eight minutes of the movie than we remember. The entire debut of Baby Sonic is contained within those eight minutes, as is Donut Lord's first encounter with the blue blur, although he is blissfully unaware that he has met the movie's main character until a little later in the film.

As for other movies that were supposed to hit theaters in the coming weeks, most of their release dates have been postponed indefinitely. There have been calls by some groups of fans for certain movies to bypass theaters and go straight to on-demand services. That will ultimately depend on how long this pandemic lasts, and how much studios are willing to lose.
