New "Goosebumps: Dead of Night Game" Video Game Announced, Trailer Revealed

R.L. Stine's timeless Goosebumps book series is spawning another video game.

According to multiple reports, Scholastic, Sony Pictures and Cosmic Forces will team up for a new game, Goosebumps: Dead of Night. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and DC.

The game is slated for a summer release. IGN shared a one-minute trailer for the new Goosebumps installment, which you can see below:

The game summary (h/t IGN) outlines that Slappy the Dummy is up to his old tricks again. The popular Goosebumps villain "has stolen the pages from classic Goosebumps tales, unleashing a nightmare of legendary monsters who are out to get you!"

The game summary also details that viewers must prevent getting captured by other well-known Goosebumps villains -  Lawn Gnomes (from Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes), Graveyard Ghoul (from Attack of the Graveyard Ghouls), the Werewolf of Fever Swamp (from the book of the same name), Murder the Clown and Annihilator 3000.

Users will have to find clues, avoid detection from monsters and even "solve Slappy's devious clues."

The first Goosebumps video game, Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland, was released in 1996 on Windows. This was based on one of Stine's most popular Goosebumps books, One Day at HorrorLand.

A year later, Attack of the Mutant - the second Goosebumps video game - was released. This was based on the novel and episode of the same name. Released on PC, it featured voice cameos from Adam West (he played the Galloping Gazelle in the television adaptation) and James Belushi (he voiced the main villain, the Masked Mutant).

Goosebumps HorrorLand was the third video game, released in 2008. In 2015, Goosebumps: The Game was released just before the Goosebumps movie (starring Jack Black) hit the big screens. The two most recently released Goosebumps video games were Night of Scares (2015) and Horror Town (2018).

A reboot of the '90s live-action television series is in the works.
