New York Giants Sign Andrew Thomas To $32.345 Million Rookie Contract
The New York Giants and offensive tackle Andrew Thomas have reached an agreement on a rookie contract as training camp continues to draw closer.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thomas and the Giants reached an agreement on a four-year, $32.345 million deal. It includes a signing bonus of $21.1 million, per Rapoport.
With Thomas now signed, 29 of the 32 first-round draft selections have signed their first NFL contracts. Only Joe Burrow (first overall to the Cincinnati Bengals), Jordyn Brooks (27th overall to the Seattle Seahawks) and Isaiah Wilson (29th overall to the Tennessee Titans) have yet to sign their rookie deals.
Over the past two weeks, a plethora of 2020 draft picks signed their rookie contracts. The vast majority of 2020 draft selections are now under contract as teams prepare for the start of training camp.
Thomas was drafted fourth overall by the Giants. The former Georgia star was the first offensive lineman selected in a class that was extremely deep in that area.
Five other offensive tackles were taken in the first round: Jedrick Wills (10th overall to the Cleveland Browns), Mekhi Becton (11th overall to the New York Jets), Tristan Wirfs (13th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Austin Jackson (18th overall to the Miami Dolphins) and the aforementioned Wilson.

Thomas, who was earned First-team All-SEC honors in 2018 and 2019, joins a Giants offense that includes superstar running back Saquon Barkley and second-year quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants allowed 43 sacks last season, but they have every reason to believe that Thomas will improve that unit here in 2020.
The Giants have missed the playoffs in each of the last three years. They overhauled their coaching staff after the regular season, firing head coach Pat Shurmur. They hired former New England Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge as his replacement, and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was hired as the offensive coordinator.
If the Giants are to turn things around in 2020, the offense as a whole must improve. Having Thomas in the fold will go a long way in achieving that goal.
