[Report] "Big Brother 22" All-Star Season To Begin Filming This Summer

Big Brother 22 hasn't been announced yet by CBS, but it appears to be a case of when and not if.

According to a report from TMZ, Big Brother will be returning this summer, and the 22nd season will feature a cast of All-Stars. This would mark the first All-Star season since Big Brother 7 in 2006:

"Our sources say an All-Star cast made the most sense, because those contestants are already familiar with the show and have already been vetted by network execs...plus it would have been difficult to cast fresh faces for a new season in the middle of a pandemic, a process we're told would have dragged on for weeks."

TMZ's report stated that the initial plan was for contestants to arrive in Los Angeles early this month "to begin testing and quarantines." That has been delayed until the end of July, however.

Sources also told TMZ that the contestants will undergo tests for COVID-19, followed by a two-week quarantine period before they arrive in the Big Brother house.

Last month, US Weekly reported that CBS was indeed looking at another All-Star season, and that they spoke to previous winners and "notable alumni" about returning this summer.

Big Brother traditionally begins in the final week of June, and it usually concludes in mid to late September. Big Brother 21 premiered on June 25, 2019 and ended on Sept. 25.

If CBS is running another All-Star season, it's anybody's guess who the cast could consist of. There would be no shortage of compelling options. Dr. Will Kirby, Mike 'Boogie' Malin, Dan Gheesling, 'Evel' Dick Donato, Jordan Lloyd, Jeff Schroeder and Janelle Pierzina are among the many popular houseguests who've been cast for multiple seasons.

However, sources told US Weekly that Kirby, Malin, Donato, Rachel Reilly (the season 13 winner), Andy Herren (the season 15 winner) and Britney Haynes (seasons 12 and 14) aren't expected to return for Big Brother 22.

Many fans have called for a season consisting entirely of Big Brother winners, but US Weekly reported that this won't be happening for the planned All-Star season.

At any rate, there are plenty of popular Big Brother stars for the network to choose from. And if they run another All-Star season, there will be no shortage of intrigue and entertainment for the fans.
