[Report] MLB To Release 2020 Regular Season Schedule Next Week
Last week, Major League Baseball and the players' union reached an agreement on a 60-game regular season that's scheduled to begin on July 23.
With the 2020 campaign now less than three weeks away, the league is working quickly towards finalizing the schedule. According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the expectation is that the the league will reveal the regular season schedule next week.
The regular season is scheduled to conclude on Sept. 27, with the postseason beginning two days later. Game 7 of the World Series, if necessary, will take place on Oct. 28.
It's been reported that the defending World Series Champion Washington Nationals will play the powerhouse New York Yankees on opening day. If that's the case, baseball fans will likely have the fortunes of watching Max Scherzer go up against Gerrit Cole.
Teams will play 40 divisional games, 10 against each opponent. The remaining 20 games will take place against the corresponding geographical division in the other league; the AL East against the NL East, the AL Central against the NL Central an the AL West against the NL East.
July marks a big month for the "big four" major North American professional sports leagues. The NBA is slated to resume its 2019-20 season on July 30 in the hub city of Orlando, Florida. 22 of the 30 teams will return as they vie for the NBA Championship; the Finals are scheduled to end by Oct. 12.

The NHL is planning to start training camp on July 13 as part of their 24-team "Return To Play" format, but there is no guarantee that they'll manage to complete the 2019-20 season. It's been reported that the 2019-20 campaign would have to end by October at the latest.
NFL training camp is expected to begin on July 28, and it looks like the league is on track to play out the season as scheduled.
It's been nearly four long months without NHL, NFL, MLB and NBA. But baseball will be back in less than three weeks. And if all goes accordingly, the NHL and NBA will resume play very soon.
