The First Official Trailer For The Boys Season 2 Is Here
First, we got a release date, now we have a trailer for the second season of The Boys, and we are very, very excited about it.
The video streaming world is a very busy one right now. Over the course of the past year, heavy-hitters Disney+ and HBO Max have joined the battle. That will have Netflix watching its back, and Amazon Prime hitting its head against a brick wall. Not all of Prime's originals have broken ground, but one of them definitely has.
That one is the dark superhero series The Boys. What's both great and also depressing about The Boys is it is probably the most accurate portrayal of what the world would be like if superheroes really did exist. That corporations and PR companies would control their every move, and while tortured souls who are up to no good behind the scenes, the public would only see them shining, polished, and performing acts of heroism.
Billy Butcher and his band of misfits know better, though. They spent season one trying to take down a group of supes called The Seven. Spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen season one. Homelander, The Seven's leader, thwarts their plan, and as can be seen in the first official trailer for season two, Butcher and his buddies are now on the run. Not just from The Seven, but from the whole world. Be warned, the trailer contains a lot of language some readers might find offensive.
As you can see, season two of The Boys will be just as comically violent and gory as season one. It would also seem that even though Homelander's mother/lover figure was blown to smithereens, the damaged supe hasn't been able to kick his breastmilk habit. We're also hoping Butcher doesn't ease up on the Spice Girls references. That's all British people do, right? Talk about the Spice Girls and swear.
Season 2 of The Boys will land on Amazon Prime on September 4, 2020, but not all of it. Prime is rolling out the new season in a rather innovative way. The first three episodes will be released all in one go, appeasing the binge-watchers on day one. However, viewers who prefer to space out their episodes will also be catered to as the rest of the series will be released one episode at a time each week.
