Did Giancarlo Esposito Just Confirm The Mandalorian Season 4?

More than a month before season two launches on Disney+, Giancarlo Esposito appears to have confirmed The Mandalorian will be around until at least season four.

Star Wars fans don't have long to wait until the release of The Mandalorian season two. Disney+'s hit TV show will return for its highly-anticipated second season on October 30, 2020. Thankfully, the show's production finished up prior to the start of the global pandemic, so it wasn't one of the many affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The series will presumably arrive in the same way as season one and be released an episode at a time. Amazon Prime decided to take that approach with the second season of The Boys, which has not gone down well with its fans. However, if Disney+ sticks with that method for the second season of The Mandalorian, it shouldn't come as a surprise so likely won't have quite as many complainers.

As for the future of The Mandalorian, its creators have already confirmed that it will return for a third season. In fact, work on that third season has already begun. Announcing that a show will be returning for another season before the next season has even begun isn't out of the ordinary. Revealing that it will be returning for yet another season after that though, that most definitely isn't the norm.

Giancarlo Esposito appears to have done exactly that, though. The actor, who plays Moff Gideon on the show, recently discussed the future of The Mandalorian with People. " I think this show is going to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s gonna come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers," Espositio explained when discussing season two.

As you can see, it isn't confirmation of a fourth season, per se, but an assumption that The Mandalorian will be sticking around. Judging by the success of season one, and as Esposito goes on to say, how expansive a universe the show has at its disposal, it's safe to assume that The Mandalorian will be sticking around for quite a while.
