Fans Vote Bane As Tom Hardy's Most Iconic Role To Date
Tom Hardy's portrayal of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises has been voted the most iconic role of his career to date.
Actors are lucky if they land one iconic role throughout their entire career. There are countless men and women in Hollywood who will have appeared in tens, if not hundreds of movies, but are most fondly remembered for just one. Mark Hammill as Luke Skywalker, Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, and Scarlett Johansson as the MCU's Black Widow, just to name a few.
Some actors will be lucky enough to land two or more of those roles. Harrison Ford, for instance. Ford's roles as Han Solo and Indiana Jones will be remembered and rewatched for the rest of time. His role in Bladerunner would also make that list for some Ford fans. A more modern-day example might well be Tom Hardy, who has already racked up a number of movie roles that we won't forget in a hurry.
Lad Bible recently took to Instagram to discover which of Hardy's roles to date has been the most iconic. Narrowing it down to just eight contenders must have been hard enough. From there, it brought its followers into the fray. The elite eight Hardy roles were pitted against each other in a knockout style tournament.
Venom and Hardy's portrayal of the Kray twins in Legend made up one half of the final four, and Bane versus Alfie from Peaky Blinders in the opposite fixture. Both were close-run things, but it wound up being the Kray twins versus Bane in the final. We were sad not to see Venom make the cut as that's a comic book showdown we would love to see go down.
Hardy as Bane won the final, beating out his portrayal of the Kray twins in Legend. It makes sense as The Dark Knight Rises was one of the most-anticipated movies of a generation. The only problem was the criticism of Bane's voice in the movie, which had nothing to do with Hardy himself. Some who watched the movie complained that his mask made it hard to understand what he was saying at times.
