Marvel's Tribute To Chadwick Boseman Will Reduce You To Tears
Marvel has published a video tribute to Chadwick Boseman that includes some touching words from those he shared the screen with in the MCU.
The world was left in shock on Friday night as news broke that Chadwick Boseman had passed away at the age of just 43. Boseman's family revealed that the actor had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016 and has been battling it ever since. The cancer progressed to stage four and Boseman eventually succumbed to the disease. Only those closest to him knew of his diagnosis prior to his death.
That means Boseman starred in a handful of big-time blockbusters while simultaneously battling colon cancer. Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, 21 Bridges, and Da 5 Bloods, among others. It's incredible to think he was undergoing operations and chemotherapy while putting on the performances that he did in those movies.
Tributes have been pouring in for Boseman ever since news of his passing broke. From actors who shared the screen with him, others who didn't, and the millions of his fans around the world. Boseman is best known for his portrayal of Black Panther in the MCU. Shortly after his passing, Marvel went about putting together a video tribute to the actor featuring testimonies from some of his fellow Avengers.
Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Angela Bassett are just a few of the stars who share their feelings about working with Boseman. Even though the interviews were conducted prior to Boseman's passing, it is a very touching video and just goes to show the kind of person Boseman was. However, the most emotional part of the video comes at the end as it is closed out by Boseman himself.
Boseman talks about reflecting on his role as Black Panther and questioning what it means, and whether it means something to the world. His hope is that it did. That it didn't provide only an escape, but also provided people with hope. The reaction to his passing has made it abundantly clear that it definitely did, giving young black people not only a role model, but a superhero to look up to for the first time, at least on a platform as big as the one Boseman was given.
