Why Violett Beane's Jesse Quick Character Left The Arrowverse, Why She Could Return

Violett Beane's Jesse Quick could make a return to the Arrowverse after a very noticeable absence.

The Flash has presented a number of speedsters from various universes over the course of the series, with Jesse Wells one of them. The female speedster, who took on the name Jesse Quick, came to screens in season 2 around the time the multiverse was made a thing on the show.

Viewers were introduced to Jesse as Zoom's prisoner but she was eventually freed en route to becoming a speedster herself in season 3. Jesse didn't appear that frequently but was a fan favorite nonetheless.

It was probably assumed she would become a staple given her youth and that she was one of the few female comic book speedsters, as well as a fan fav, should have led to her remaining on the show. Yet she hasn't been seen since season 4's 15th episode "Enter Flashtime."

She has been mentioned off-screen several times but has yet to return. As to why that is, Screenrant points out that Beane took on a lead role in CBS series God Friended Me back in 2018, during The Flash's fourth season.

That didn't necessarily mean she was gone from the Arrowverse as DC's TV director Greg Berlanti was also producing for God Friended Me. The show, though, was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and had to stall production during its second season. The pandemic ultimately forced a cancelation, with CBS announcing as much in April. They were, however, able to come up with a season finale.

While unfortunate for God Friended Me, this could pave the way for Beane and her version of Jesse Quick to make a return to the Arrowverse at some point. Of course, we can't be sure that will be the case but it certainly makes sense for both parties.
