Kansas City Chiefs-Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 12 Game Averaged 23.115 Million Viewers

The fourth showdown between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes unsurprisingly dominated the television ratings on Sunday afternoon.
According to a CBS press release, the Kansas City Chiefs-Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 12 game at Raymond James Stadium averaged 23.115 million viewers. This was slightly lower than the Thursday Thanksgiving game between the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions (also on CBS) that averaged 23.389 million viewers.
Tom Brady teams and Mahomes' Chiefs are always sure bets for strong television ratings. And unless they meet in the Super Bowl, or unless Brady switches teams, Sunday's contest will have likely marked the final showdown between the two MVP and Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks.
The NFL's schedule rotation means the Chiefs and Buccaneers only play every four years, and it's hard to imagine Brady playing at the age of 47 in four years. So fans that are hoping for a fifth Mahomes-Brady showdown will have to hope for a Super Bowl matchup or for Brady to play elsewhere in 2021 (or possibly 2022).
Kansas City built a 17-0 first quarter lead, thanks to Tyreek Hill's 75 and 44-yard touchdown catches. The Chiefs held a double-digit point lead until late in the fourth quarter, when two Mike Evans touchdown receptions cut the deficit to three.
But Kansas City was able to melt the final 4:10 off the clock to hold on for a 27-24 victory. They clinched the game when Mahomes found Hill for an eight-yard gain with just over a minute to go.
Brady won the first two meetings against Mahomes as a member of the Patriots, in Week 6 of the 2018 season and in the AFC Championship Game later that year. However, Mahomes and the Chiefs got revenge by winning 23-16 at Gillette Stadium in Week 14 last season.
With Sunday's win, the NFL's best player is now 2-2 all time against the most accomplished football player in history. If that was the final contest between Brady and Mahomes, it was unequivocally memorable.
