Bruce Willis Offers Response To Going Maskless In Drug Store
Bruce Willis was caught on camera without a mask at a Los Angeles Rite-Aid this week. The Die Hard star was reportedly asked to leave the store by employees after he allegedly refused to cover his face despite wearing a bandana around his neck. On Tuesday, the 65-year-old actor told PEOPLE, “It was an error in judgment. Be safe out there everyone and let’s continue to mask up.”
Reportedly, several customers at the drug store were upset Willis wasn’t following COVID-19 safety protocols. After he was approached by store employees, he left the store without buying anything. A representative for the actor has not responded to requests for a comment.
Early in the pandemic, Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore posted a picture of the actor quarantining in matching pajamas with friends and family in Idaho, rather than with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their two young children. In response to the photo, the actor’s wife commented, “Not many can pull that color off! 😂 Lookin good squad 💚💚💚💚.”
In Los Angeles, there have been 958,497 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 12,955 deaths. Meanwhile, in California, there have been 2,846,432 confirmed cases and 31,659 deaths. As of last week, Los Angeles County had administered only about 151,000 doses of the more than 490,990 vaccines it has received.
As of Tuesday, more than 2.8 million doses have been delivered to California, but less than one-third have been administered. Officials report that there has been lower than expected demand from healthcare and nursing home workers who have highest priority to be inoculated, with up to 40% refusing to be vaccinated.
On Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newson announced that people 65 and older are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations. However, given the strain on the vaccine distribution network, many will have to wait for weeks for inoculations. At Disneyland in Orange County, more than 10,000 people signed up for vaccinations in less than two hours on Tuesday. The county hopes to vaccinate more than 7,000 people per day at the site.
