Tom Hardy & James Norton Are The Betting Favorites To Become The Next James Bond
Daniel Craig confirmed last year that the 25th James Bond film, No Time to Die, will be his final outing as the legendary 007 character.
Here we are now in the early stages of 2021, and there aren't any hints to suggest that Craig's stance has changed. All signs point towards a new Bond following the release of No Time to Die.
Several marquee names have been linked to the next 007 role, including Tom Hardy, James Norton, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and Sam Heughan.
Nothing is set in stone, and it could be another year or two (possibly longer) until the Bond series producers choose Craig's replacement. The bookmaker, Ladbrokes, currently favors Hardy and Norton.
Ladbrokes (via the Daily Express), lists the two actors as the co-favorites at 2/1. Hardy was previously the lone favorite, but the odds for Norton (previously at 4/1, per the Daily Express) recently moved up.
Elba and Heughan carry the second highest odds of being cast as the next Bond at 6/1, per the Daily Express.
No Time to Die was previously scheduled to be released in April of this past year, but it was postponed until November due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was once again delayed, and it's currently slated for an April 2021 release.
Craig is one of six actors to have played 007, along with Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. Last year, Craig surpassed Moore as the longest-tenured Bond actor in history. He has held the role since Oct. 14, 2005.
The 52-year-old Craig first played the role in Casino Royale (2006), followed by Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).
No Time to Die also stars Rami Malek as the main villain, Safin, Léa Seydoux (Dr. Madeleine Swann), Lashana Lynch (Nomi), Ben Whishaw (Q), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter), Ralph Fiennes (M),Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny), Christoph Waltz (Ernst Stavro Blofeld),and Rory Kinnear (Bill Tanner).
