Filming For "The Batman" Will Be Finished In March [Report]

After several production delays, filming for The Batman "is due to wrap on schedule in March", according to a report from Screen Daily.

Matt Reeves' upcoming blockbuster is scheduled to be released now in the spring of next year. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic caused multiple production setbacks and a delay in the release date.

Back in November, it was reported that a stuntman working on The Batman tested positive for COVID-19. 10 crew members reportedly had to enter a 14-day quarantine period as a result.

The Batman experienced a halt in production after Robert Pattinson (Batman/Bruce Wayne) tested positive for COVID-19. Filming resumed soon after.

But after the multiple delays, Reeves and company are finally getting very close to completing production for one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2022.

The Batman was initially scheduled to be released in June of this year. Because of the pandemic, the release date was pushed back to Oct. 1. Now, it's scheduled for March 4, 2022.

By the time The Batman hits theaters, it will have been nearly four and a half years since the last Batman live-action film hit the big screens (Justice League, released in the United States on Nov. 17, 2017).

Ben Affleck stepped down from the Caped Crusader role following Justice League, and Pattinson was announced as the new Batman in May 2019.

The Batman will also be released nearly 10 full years after The Dark Knight Rises - the final installment of Christopher Nolan's trilogy - first reached the big screens.

The Batman will also mark the first live-action movie appearances for the Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot (played by Colin Farrell) and Riddler (played by Paul Dano) characters since Batman Returns (1992, played by Danny DeVito) and Batman Forever 1995, played by Jim Carrey), respectively.

Dano's Riddler will be the main villain in the The Batman.

The film also stars Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman/Selina Kyle), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), Jeffrey Wright (James Gordon), Peter Sarsgaard (Gil Colson), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), Jayme Lawson (Bella Reál) and Barry Keoghan (Stanley Merkel).
