Marilyn Manson Fired By Record Label After Horrific Abuse Allegations
Marilyn Manson has been dropped from his record label actress after actress Evan Rachel Wood and four other women accused him of abuse. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Loma Vista Recordings said they would not continue to support Manson's recent album or work with him in the future.
"In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately. Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects," the record label said.
Manson has also been dismissed from two television series, Creepshow and American Gods. The singer was set to appear in the upcoming season of Creepshow but the project has been shelved. An American Gods episode featuring Manson has also been ditched.
On Monday, in an Instagram post, Wood alleged that Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, had "horrifically" abused her for years after "grooming" her when she was a teenager. The Westworld star met Manson when she was 18 and he was 36. They couple were briefly engaged in 2010.
"I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent," she wrote. She also emphasized that she is "done living in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail."
Four other women have also come forward with abuse allegations against Manson, who has faced similar claims in the past. In May 2018, the musician was accused in a police report of unspecified sex crimes. At the time, his attorney, Howard E. King, Esq., said, "The allegations are categorically denied by Mr. Warner and are either completely delusional or part of a calculated attempt to generate publicity."
In response to the allegations, Manson has stated, "Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth."
