Timothée Chalamet Plays Edward Scissorhands' Son in Super Bowl Ad

In a brilliant ad for Cadillac's Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, Academy Award nominated actor Timothée Chalamet stars as Edward Scissorhands' son Edgar. Set in the same pastel colored neighborhood as Tim Burton's iconic film, the commercial also stars Winona Ryder, Edward’s girlfriend Kim in the original film.
In the ad for the Cadillac LYRIQ, we see Edgar, who has inherited his father’s scissor hands, facing the same struggles as his dad. He accidentally cuts the pull cord on the bus, gets caught in a fence, and pops a football when he tries to catch it. Edgar, liked his father, does have hidden talents. He makes a mean deli sandwich and is a great VR car driver.
When his mom surprises him with a LYRIQ, the two are able to safely enjoy a ride thanks to the car’s hands-free technology. "It’s rare when a work you’re proud of continues to live on and evolve with the times, even after 30 years," said Burton, who approved the concept for the ad. "I’m glad to see Edgar coping with the new world! I hope both fans and those being introduced to Edward Scissorhands for the first time enjoy it."
Other star-studded Super Bowl ads included actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, who teamed up with Shaggy for a Cheetos commercial; Michael B. Jordan as the "body" of Amazon's Alexa, and Mike Myers and Dana Carvey as their Wayne's World characters promoting Uber Eats.
"It's so silly! Ashton and I, we never work together. I mean, I know we've worked together before [on That '70s Show and more]… but in the midst of quarantine, they sent us this ad to do," " Kunis told ET. "Every time I've ever been offered a Super Bowl ad it's always a female having to be scantily clad. But this one comes around, I started laughing so hard, and Ashton was like, 'This is kind of funny.' And I was like, 'We should do it!'"
