Lamborghini Producing Hyrbrid Plug-In With Most Horsepower Available

Lamborghini is getting on the hybrid trend by producing a plug-in with the most horsepower available. Now, the rich and powerful can look forward to being more eco-conscious with a mere 820 horsepower to boot.

For the past three years, Lamborghini has been promising its customers a hybrid version of its super sports SUV and finally, they will deliver with the Urus PHEV. This luxury sports hybrid will be nothing to bat an eye at; with its powerful engine and electric setup, this luxury hybrid will be able to increase to a whopping 820 HP, as reported by Car Buzz. The weight of the PHEV will be a whopping 551 pounds more than its gas-only counterpart, which is expected to hit the market in late 2021 to early 2022.

The hybrid Urus, which was announced back in 2017, has proven to be a popular choice for Lamborghini customers, selling more than 100 units since its launch in India. The Urus accounts for the bulk of Lamborghini's sales in the country of India, according to Fortune India. Country head for Lamborghini in India, Sharad Agarwal, shared that the most powerful car in its league, the 650 bhp SUV, sells at the rate of one car a week. Lamborghini has three dealers in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with others across the nation. If you think it may be a challenge to sell luxury cars in India, guess again.

“We feel there is still a stigma attached to enjoying luxury. [But] younger people are exposed to foreign markets and… especially with the pandemic now, they want to enjoy their life now while they can and buy the car that they’ve dreamed of," Agarwal stated.

The Lamborghini PHEV will be a plug-in hybrid, simply meaning the car will have an extra-large battery pack and must be fully recharged using an external electricity source, as stated by Car And Driver. PHEV will be a hybrid vehicle that has broken out as a popular type of vehicle, with a staggering 5 million being sold over the past two decades, according to the United States Department of Energy. While there are a few types of hybrid vehicles, it all boils down to one advantage: less fuel being used which results in better fuel economy. It is reported that different car companies use different hybrid designs to accomplish different missions.

Since the Urus hit the market, it has inspired other car manufacturers to go hybrid. Aston Martin came out with the DBX and Ferrari reported joining the hybrid race in the future, according to Car Buzz.

We look forward to when the hybrid Lamborghini hits the market at the end of this year.
