Dolly Parton's Charity Ice Cream Going For Insane Prices On eBay

Would you ever pay $1,000 for ice cream? It might sound ludicrous, however, that's the exact price some people are willing to pay for Dolly Parton's new ice cream flavor.

Last Friday, the 75-year-old country music star co-launched - along with artisan ice cream company; Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream - a new ice cream flavor so special, Jeni's website crashed from the high demand.

Partons fans could visibly not get enough of the special Strawberry Pretzel Pie flavor. With only 10,000 pints being produced, people seemed to have desperately trying to get a hold of the sweet, very special dessert.

With the website crashing and pints quickly selling out, the lucky ones who have managed to get their hands on Partons' ice cream have taken their luck further by cashing up to $1,000 for selling pints on eBay.

One user in particular from Pasadena, California - one of the first people to come up with the idea of selling a pint at this extravagant price - will also ship the ice cream for $35, or let the buyer pick it up for free locally.

However, the Californian eBay user has defied any claims of being a selfish opportunist, as they have pledged to donate 80% of the proceeds to country legend's charity: Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - a non-profit organization gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five.

Nevertheless, $1,000 is a big commitment to make, especially considering the user does not have any feedback to his profile, making it a potential risk for anyone considering spending that immense sum on Parton's ice cream.

Dolly Parton announced her collaboration with Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream last month. After celebrating an amazing year, where the singer not only won a Grammy award but also got praise for helping funding the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, Parton proved to everybody that once again, she was more than just a country star: she is a groundbreaking philanthropist.

The ice cream's aim was to donate funds towards her Imagination Library program. But as we now know, things got complicated, and the dessert including salty pretzel streusel layers, mixed with cream cheese ice cream and lipstick-red strawberry sauce created quite the fuss online.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream has since tweeted that the Strawberry Pretzel Pie flavor was not sold out, but could not be bought online anymore. The company is, however, working on the website's issues, and intends to send an email to subscribers, as well as informing followers on social media when the ice cream company will be "back up and running".

In the meantime, Dolly Partons fans can now enjoy a Netflix concert tribute to the country legend, starring t her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, and Shawn Mendes.
