Meet The Man Who Inspired Elon Musk | TheRichest.com

Elon Musk is the current title holder of 'richest man in the world', with an estimated net worth of over $190 Billion, according to The Power Of Knowledge. He is one of the most notable tech and science moguls of our generation. The 49-year-old businessman is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and was one of the original founders of PayPal. A South African native, Musk also holds Canadian and American citizenship; his mother, Maye Musk, is a Canadian former model, and he acquired his American citizenship in 2002. Father to seven children, Elon Musk is one of the busiest people on the planet.
Though some wealthy people sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor, Musk has always been extremely involved in the creation, maintenance, and evolution of his businesses. His academic background in physics and economics have given him the tools necessary to be such a success story. All his hard work, dedication, and perseverance have certainly paid off. Elon has often pointed to Nobel Prize winning physicist, Richard Feynman as one of his biggest sources of inspiration. So who exactly what Richard Feynman?
Richard Feynman was born in 1918 in New York City. According to Medium, he is regarded as one of the most famous physicists of the 20th Century. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1939, and continued on to do a Ph. D at the same institute, which he obtained in 1942. His career then steered into teaching; he held several assistant and primary professor roles, at Princeton University, Cornell University, and at the California Institute of Technology. Elon Musk has always credited Richard Feynman's lectures and publications as having hugely impacted his own personal and professional pursuits.

Feynman was definitely a notable force in the academic and scientific communities during the post-World War II phases. His notable work included the complete restructuring of the concepts of how light and matter correspond to each other. This revamping of the quantum electrodynamic model is what earned him a Nobel Prize, in 1965, according to Brittanica. The two cowinners of the prize were Julian S. Schwinger, of the United States, and Tomonaga Shin’ichirō, of Japan. Both had developed very similar theories , but Feynman's was ultimately praised as the most extensive and original. His problem solving abilities shaped the scientific world of physics for decades to come.
In Musk's professional career as a designer, architect, and business founder, he has often put into practice some of the techniques that Feynman was famous for. Feynman viewed life with a certain curiosity and sense of adventure. While he always sought to empirically solve problems, he also never lost his curiosity for the way the world works. Feynman saw work (and all aspects of life, really) as a game. According to Medium, he often said ‘everything’s a game’, and in order to fully get the most out of life, we must treat even the most mundane tasks as part of this game...the game of life! The more you understood about the game, he said, the better position you were in to succeed at it. Everything in the game revolved around fundamental physics.

Elon Musk's success is quite remarkable. At only 49 years old, he has founded and built-up several multi-billion dollar companies and left a lasting impression in the scientific world. His dedication to his companies is evident. He is extremely passionate and motivated to never stop reaching for the next 'big thing', whether that be a mission to get civilians to Mars, or the development and design of a hyperloop travel system in Dubai.
With so many different projects on the go, Musk is definitely a busy man. Recently, he committed to selling most of his properties in Los Angeles. Several of his mansions were sold in 2020, and he recently relocated to Texas where the SpaceX head office and spacecraft building facilities are located. Since 2018, Musk has been romantically linked to his Canadian-born partner, Grimes, a musician and record producer. The pair welcomed a baby boy together in 2020. They definitely topped the cake for the most original celebrity baby name, giving their son the first name, X Æ A-12, which is pronounced, "Ex Ash A Twelve", according to Wikipedia. The baby was the first child for Grimes, and the seventh child for Musk.
