Conan O'Brien Gives Advice For Success In His Final Broadcast

After 28 late night years entertaining fans, Conan O'Brien has signed off for his last show. Following 4,368 episode, the host had words of wisdom, advice for success, and an outpouring of love to offer viewers who have rallied behind him since the start.

Coco's journey began on NBC following the tumultuous changing of the guard at the Tonight Show. When David Letterman departed the network due to Jay Leno's promotion to host of Tonight, O'Brien stepped in to the 12:35 slot. Little did he know that later that same show would be a lightening bolt of controversy for him too. He was given the show briefly upon Leno's exit, but lost it back to Jay shortly after.

The situation showed the world just how beloved Conan was as fans clamored to show their love across a number of platforms. Even fellow late night hosts sprung to his defense. In the end, he wound up on TBS. The partnership with Turner Broadcasting brought him 11 seasons before he hung his microphone up for the final time this week.

"My advice to anyone watching right now - and it's not easy to do, it's not easy to do, but try; try and do what you love with people you love," he told viewers. "If you can manage that, it's the definition of heaven on Earth."

Of course, no Conan monologue would be complete without his trademark humor. It was that comic sense that always found a way to make even the most serious moments something to cause a chuckle when delivered by the former Simpsons writer.

"It's hard to say, it's our final show on TBS. I've done over 4,000 hours of television in my life. And every night, I always said, 'tonight we have a really great show.' And I have to tell you, I was often lying. But tonight - tonight we really do have a great show," he explained to the crowd.

"And if we don't, what are you gonna do about it? Yeah, I'll be long gone."

He may be long gone, but he will never be forgotten. While the face of late night television (and television in general) has changed monumentally since his start in the hosting chair, one thing is certain. Conan O'Brien's talent and success are unparalleled. For those watching and listening, his words should be taken to heart. Few personalities have garnered the respect and fortune that O'Brien has and few ever will.
