Signed Air Jordan 1 Sneaker Sample Expecting Big Bucks At Auction

When it comes to sneakers, the Jordan brand has been an industry leader. For decades, fans have seen select, rare pairs of Michael Jordan's branded sneakers go up for sale and auction for astronomically high prices. Bidding wars have ensued, and it appears that when it comes to owning a piece of sports history, there is limitless potential on the auction block. This has never been more apparent than now. Hot New Hip Hop indicates that the signed sample of Michael Jordan's "Chicago" Air Jordan 1 is now up for auction, and it's poised to sell for well over $250,000. The bidding is still open and there's still time to vie for an opportunity to be the proud new owner of these historic shoes.

This pair of shoes is already up on the auction block and is said to have been made in 1985. Unlike other shoes that have been sold and auctioned before, this is a sample that was made specifically for Michael Jordan to wear, and the finite details visible in this particular pair of shoes makes them an absolute collector's item.

In spite of the fact that Michael Jordan never actually slipped his feet into these, he did take a moment to sign them, so they come with an authentic signature.

These were designed to be his sample sneakers so they were completely customized for Michael Jordan, and every detail on them is significant and unique. For starters, they are red, black and white as a nod to his Chicago Bulls colors.

They are also verified with a unique code which reads; "850204-TYPS" on the tongue. According to TMZ, this means they were made "between February and April in 1985 -- and TYPS is Tong Yang Player Sample"

These shoes have been in the hands of a gas company executive who at one point indicated how much he admired Jordan during a meeting with a sports executive.

They are now on the market with RR Auctions and are expected to fetch $250,000 or more. Bidding is open until June 16th.
