Billionaire Richard Branson Wins The Race & Launches Into Space

Billionaire Richard Branson began today in the usual way, and ended it even more unusually...with a trip to space aboard his very own rocket ship. This incredible feat was accomplished ahead of Jeff Bezos, making Branson the first billionaire to go to space on his own rocket ship. Branson, who is just shy of his 71st birthday, took five people from his Virgin Galactic space-tourism company on a trip to space, which was as fast as it was fascinating. He is now able to say he fulfilled his lifelong dream of going to space, and according to the CBC, he now boasts the experience of roughly 3-4 minutes of weightlessness - a truly out-of-this-world experience that so very few people have experienced to date. That's all about to change...

As much as it was a bucket list item that was ticked off his list, this trip to space was also very much a business move. The adrenaline pumping adventure mesmerized fans across the globe that witnessed the history-making trip and realized the truly historic, monumental impact this would have on our world. As they watched in awe of Branson's space adventure, they were witnessing the most powerful commercial for his Virgin Galactic space-tourism company. Next year, Branson plans on taking passengers along for the ride, bridging the gap between civilians and space travel, in a way that has never before been imagined.

Those who have wondered what it's like to adventure through space and look down upon the curvature of the earth, need not wonder any more. Branson's rocket reached an altitude of roughly 88 kms over the earth, and departed from, and landed back in the New Mexico. The smooth, runway landing was just about as perfect as it gets, and people across the globe will soon be invited to experience this hair-raising adventure for themselves.

"The whole thing, it was just magical," Branson told the press, after taking his very own spaceship to space. Of course, fans across the globe were glued to their television sets to see the live feed, and generations of people interested in space travel and life beyond planet earth have just witnessed history in the making.

Branson hasn't just inspired the general public, either. This milestone moment has even garnered a lot of respect from those heavily immersed in the space industry. The CBC quotes former astronaut Chris Hadfield as saying; "That was an amazing accomplishment...I'm just so delighted at what this open door is going to lead to now. It's a great moment."
