With A Net Worth Of $81 Million, Bruce Springsteen Tops The List Of Highest-Paid Musicians Of 2021

The music business, if cards are played correctly, can be big business for the artist who knows their way around the ropes. The Covid-19 pandemic may have hindered many artists from hosting their traditional stage shows, but as creative artists, there's always a way to create income for your craft. And this was exactly the approach taken by American Rock singer, songwriter, and musician, Bruce Springsteen, who has risen to the height of the peak position of Rolling Stone magazine's list of 10 Highest-Paid Musicians of 2021 list. While other artists broke records with music sales and streams during the pandemic, others found other means of cashing in big.

Citing a Rolling Stone magazine report, Bruce Springstein made more money during the pandemic than at any other time prior. Heading the list with $590 million at the end of 2021, he out-performed Red-Hot Chilli Peppers, One Republic's lead singer, Ryan Tedder, Paul Simon, and Taylor Swift (who was the only lady on the list). Other artists such as Jay-Z and Kanye West were on the heels of Springsteen, but they were made an exception because their revenue did not come solely as a result of their song catalogs but from other ventures, such as Kanye's Yeezy footwear and Jay-Z's sale of half of his Armand de Brignac champagne brand.

A report from Koimoi revealed the cause of Springsteen's massive return as the result of selling his publishing copyrights and master recording music rights to Sony Music in December 2021 for the price of $550 million. The sell-off also made history as one of the largest sales of a solo catalog, selling for more than half the price of Paul Simon's song catalog, which sold for $250 million back in April 2021. At this point, not even Phil Collins would be able to exceed Springsteen's payday by selling his master recordings.

Although it was the largest part of his payoff, his song-catalogs weren't the only things that brought his total to $590 million. As a performer, he made a decent gross of money from performances such as the return of Springsteen on Broadway. In addition, he did two projects with former U.S. President Barack Obama. One was a Spotify podcast called Renegades: Born in the USA, titled after their joint book venture. The two American icons discussed everything for politics, music, social justice, money, and the American dream.

A few of the other multi-million dollar music masters sellers on the list were Blake Shelton, Lindsey Buckingham, and Motley Crue.
