Camilla To Receive “Queen Mothers Crown” Consisting Of 2,800 diamonds

Camilla will receive the Queen Mother’s platinum and diamond crown featuring over 2,800 diamonds when her husband, Prince Charles, becomes king. The revelation comes just days after the monarch celebrated her Platinum Jubilee and expressed her “sincere wish” that the Duchess of Cornwall become the Queen Consort.

Camilla will have the Queen Mother’s platinum and diamond crown placed on her head when her husband Charles ascends the throne. The stunning crown boasts a platinum frame that features 2,800 diamonds.

The front cross of the crown holds the Koh-i-Noor, one of the largest cut diamonds in the world. The gem, which originated in India, first came into British possession during the reign of Queen Victoria in 1851.

Many consider the Koh-i-Noor a stolen artifact and have demanded the monarchy return the gem to India.

Also adorning the crown is a 17-carat Turkish diamond that the Sultan of Turkey gifted Queen Victoria in 1856 as a gesture of gratitude for British support during the Crimean War.

When Charles and Camilla married in 2005, they made a point of stating that the Duchess of Cornwall would not use the late Princess Diana's title, Princess of Wales. Many have speculated that upon Charles' ascendance to the throne, Camilla would take the title “princess consort.” The decision was widely considered to be out of respect for Princess Diana.

A source close to the royals revealed that the Queen believed Camilla “deserved” the proper title that “comes with the job,” and in her announcement left little doubt about her feelings regarding the matter.

“When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes king, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me, and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” the Queen announced.
