Drake’s Outrageous $77,000 Ring Has A Hidden Meaning
A friend has gifted Drake a new diamond ring that’s worth some serious cash, though he probably could have afforded it himself after winning big on his Super Bowl bets. Celebrity jeweler Alex Moss designed the piece, and the 14-carat gold ring features an owl to pay tribute to his OVO, as well as the number 11 as a tribute to his son Adonis.
Drake’s new ice was a gift from Kai Bent-Lee, the restaurateur and son of famous Canadian chef, Susur Lee. Despite the ring being a gift, Drake reportedly requested that the celebrity jeweler work the number 11 into the design of the ring, which Moss then decided to place behind the owl’s face. The number 11 is significant to Drake, as his on was Adonis was born on October 11th.
The owl is perfectly on-brand for Drake, who uses it because his brand OVO resembles an owl's face.
The diamond-encrusted piece weighs in at 83 grams and boasts 15.7 carats of VVS D-F natural diamonds and apparently, it took around two months to put together.
Moss posted a few photos and a video to show off his newest creation on Instagram and captioned it, “Alex Moss posted photos and a video on Instagram with the caption, “The Lucky Number 11 Ring. Made for @champagnepapi. Mixing the highest level of quality, design and craftsmanship to create this art piece #AMNY.”
Moss has become the go-to jeweler for a number of rappers, including Tyler the Creator, ufo361, and Jack Harlow. When Harlow wanted to celebrate his success last year, it was Moss that he called to design a series of 14-carat white gold rings which cost the rapper nearly $110,000 apiece.
Of course, the Champagne Papi is no stranger to expensive jewelry. The rapper once revealed on Instagram that he owns a pink diamond tooth, and he also recently showed off his $2.2 million Richard Mille timepiece.
The certified lover boy is worth almost $200 million, and he likes to spend it in interesting ways. Most people only know Drake from his hit records, which makes sense because he is among the world's best-selling music artists, with over 170 million records sold. But he also makes a fortune from his OVO brand, which sells everything from monogrammed hoodies to owl tees.
