Jake Paul Demands $35 Million To Spar With UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov
Jake Paul has made a fortune with his foray into boxing, and now he says he is willing to fight former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov if the price is right. The Youtuber-turned-boxer says it will take a staggering $25 to $35 million deal just to start the conversation for what would be a blockbuster MMA crossover bout.
Paul has already proved that he’s a formidable boxer with a record that stands at 5-0, and “The Problem Child” earned a staggering $40 million from the sport last year.
Now the 25-year-old says it’ll cost millions to get him to make the switch from boxing to MMA, telling The MMA Hour that he would “fight Khabib in MMA if they wanted to make that offer.”
“Not to hate on anything they’re doing, but I would need more than what I make in boxing to risk going into MMA right now. People would have to come $25, $35 million to just start the conversation with me,” he continued.
For what it’s worth, Paul says that millions would pay to see the two spar on pay-per-view.
“That would be a massive fight. Probably a million, two million pay-per-view buys and all I would have to do is work on my wrestling skills. Cause I could out-strike him standing up.”
When Jakes' brother Logan Paul entered the ring with Floyd Mayweather for an exhibition match last year, "around 1 million" people turned in.
Jake's knockout win against Tyron Woodley was a flop, amassing only 65,000 pay-per-view buys on cable and satellite. The boxer dismissed critics, saying that while it might not have been his best business night, the low ratings are a result of Tommy Fury pulling out of the fight just days before it took place and having Woodley step in last minute.
Jake has been talking about moving over to MMA for a while and has notoriously feuded with UFC boss Dana White on Twitter over how much he paid athletes. The boxing novice said he would retire from boxing for good if White agreed to a list of demands, including increased pay for fighters, better revenue sharing, and health care.
The boxer even dropped a diss track against the UFC boss last week.
The $25 to $35 million that Paul is requesting would be a staggering jump from what the boxer made with his last fight. Paul agreed to a $2 million deal when he entered the ring with Woodley last year.
