According to Go Banking Rates, the philanthropist has stepped up amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, donating her wealth to the needy. Oprah announced to donate $10 million to assist Americans in 2020. This amount was distributed between $1 million donations to America's Food Fund, unsolicited amounts to Minnie's food pantry in Plano, Texas, and some amounts to the Boys And Girls Club in Kosciusko.

The Balance SMB says that Oprah's Angel Network inspires people to make a difference in the lives of others. The group has raised $80 million from audience donations and some celebrity contributors. Oprah’s simple request for volunteers was well-acknowledged by her fan base, and soon 15,000 people stepped forward to build homes for the needy. Further, the network helped build sixty schools in thirteen countries and provided books and uniforms.

Jetsetty reports that one of Oprah's top charities are scholarships, funded by the Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarship Fund. The fund helped more than 250 students from 20 States and seven countries to receive their higher education at Morehouse College. She started giving in support of Morehouse students in 1989 with a $1 million contribution made during commencement exercises.

Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy For Girls was established in 2007. A foundation that carries the same name financially supports the Academy. The school hosts unprivileged girls between grades eight to twelve. Oprah takes care of their living expenses and school essentials. She also chats with each of them during her weekly visits to the campus. The students adore Oprah and call her Mama O affectionately, as reported by Forever Mogul.

As Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in September 2017, Winfrey came to the rescue. She donated $1 million each to Hispanic Federation and the Flamboyan Arts Fund to assist with revitalization efforts in 2019. In addition, Oprah and her long-time best friend Gayle King flew to Puerto Rico earlier that year for a production of Hamilton. Nearly two dozen performances took place to raise awareness of the hurricane's aftermath and the lack of government assistance.

Winfrey pledged $1 million to the women’s organization N Street Village in June 2016. Based in Washington, DC, the nonprofit focuses on providing services, housing, and advocacy to the homeless and low-income women in the region. The star also attended a fundraising luncheon for the charity and praised it for transforming the lives of the women in need.

Kraft Heinz Company and Oprah Winfrey launched O, That's Good! line in August 2017. The line is a part of the duo's joint venture Mealtime Stories, Inc. Ten percent of profits from Mealtime Stories, Inc. are equally split between charity organizations Rise Against Hunger and Feeding America.

Winfrey donated $12 million to the then-new Smithsonian National Museum Of African American History And Culture in 2012. She had previously donated $1 million in 2007, increasing the total donations to $13 million, and was also on the museum's advisory council since 2004.

Oprah Winfrey announced to donate $100,000 to the GEANCO Foundation in September 2015 to honor David Oyelowo, her co-star in many films. Oyelowo is a part of the organization that provides health programs and education to women of all age groups in Nigeria.

Winfrey committed $10 million from her pocket to help residents rebuild their homes after being devastated by the destruction Hurricane Katrina caused to the Gulf Coast. Further, she established Oprah's Angel Network Home Registry to support the cause. By 2006, the donations to the Registry totaled more than $10.5 million.
