A Peek Inside Johnny Depp's Extensive Property Portfolio

Johnny Depp is one of the most in-demand actors in the world, best known for portraying Willy Wonka, Sweeny Todd, and Captain Jack Sparrow. His work in blockbuster movies has earned him hefty salaries, more prominently from the Pirates Of The Caribbean series. With a sprawling net worth of $200 million, the actor lives a lavish life, making big purchases in real estate and automobiles. His property portfolio features fourteen properties that cost him over $75 million and an added expense of maintaining them and paying the staff. Over the years, he has sold, purchased, and restored many of his estates to visit when he wants to take a break from his busy schedule.

Johnny Depp has made an extravagant expense to amass a jaw-dropping property portfolio from a quaint village in France to an island by the sea. With each property more extortionate than the other, let’s take a look at the stunning estates owned by Johnny Depp.

6 French Village

In 2001, Johnny purchased an estate in France for an undisclosed amount. The estate is an abandoned village with a private residence, a skate park, multiple cottages, a wine cave, and even a little bistro. Located a few miles from St. Tropez, he spent millions to renovate the 19th-century buildings and visited the estate with his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis and their children. According to the Robb Report, Depp has renovated the village himself and even converted a local church into a guest house. The main residence features five bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, an art studio, and two swimming pools. In 2016, Depp put the property on sale for $63 million; unfortunately, the place did not sell. In 2021, it got back on a reduced $55.5 million sale.

5 Kentucky Farmhouse

The actor bought a 41-acre horse farm outside Lexington, Kentucky, in 1995 for $950,000. It served as a primary residence for his mother. He sold the property in 2001 for $1 million and, four years later, purchased it again for $2 million. After his mother passed away in 2016, he put the home on auction for $3 million. The Kentucky Farmhouse has a main house with six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. The estate also has manager’s quarters, a guest house, a four-car garage, and two horse barns. The horse farm has an expansive backyard with a swimming pool and a deck of sunrooms with patio furniture.

4 Private Bahamas Island

While shooting Pirates Of The Caribbean in 2003, Depp spotted the treasured island in the Bahamas. Called The Little Halls Ponds Cay, the island got purchased for $3.6 million in 2004. The actor constructed a ranch-style home on the estate with a 360-degree view of the scenic view. Five beaches surround the island, two named after his children Lily-Rose and Jack, one named after his ex-wife Vanessa, the fourth named Ponzo to honor the late author Hunter S. Thompson, and the last one is named Brando after his friend and mentor Marlon Brando, as noted by Page Six. The island is eco-friendly and powered by solar-powered buildings, and serves as a protected area for the local wildlife.

3 Five-Loft Los Angeles Penthouse

Located in the iconic Eastern Columbia Lofts, Johnny had amassed five penthouses in the building. He purchased the first property in 2002 and purchased another four. The houses are located on the prime top floors and combine nine bedrooms and fourteen bathrooms. As mentioned by Architectural Digest, owning the top floors of the building gives the artist and his family direct access to the sky deck with a spa, fitness studio, and a swimming pool. Depp sold all the penthouses separately for $12.78 million, making a $2 million profit since he purchased them for $10.88 million.

2 Five-Mansion Hollywood Hills Compound

The millionaire has created a cul-de-sac of five mansions in Hollywood Hills from the last few years. The actor bought the properties for $19 million, and they cover a total of 7,430 sq. ft. of the area. Depp wanted to connect a tunnel from the houses that would lead to his main residence; however, he gave up on the idea. His main residence features eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms alongside a swimming pool and a large backyard. His estate has between thirty to forty bedrooms and over 40 bathrooms.

1 Somerset Mansion

In 2014, Johnny extended his real estate reach to England when he purchased a home in Somerset, Shire County. The vintage property is located on an 820-acre land called the Somerset Mansion. The actor purchased the property when it was worth $2.5 million and spent an additional $5 million to renovate the interior of the vintage home. It boasts twelve bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as stated by Daily Mail. He still owns the property and makes it his residence while shooting movies in England.

Johnny Depp has an incredible list of properties under his name that he has purchased since the early 1990s. While he has sold a majority of his homes, he still owns the French village, his Somerset mansion, and the Hollywood Hills house, which has become his primary residence. After two years, the actor is set to return to the big screen with an unnamed historical biopic in 2022.
