Robert DeNiro’s $6 Million Lawsuit Against Ex-Employee Meant To Humiliate

Robert DeNiro has been engaged in a lawsuit with a former employee for over three years. But it doesn’t appear the actor is going to back down anytime soon, as court documents allege DeNiro is using the lawsuit to embarrass the woman.
Graham Chase Robinson originally began working for DeNiro as an executive assistant in 2008 at the age of 25. Despite later being promoted to the Vice President of Production and Finance with his company Canal Productions Inc., Robinson quit working for DeNiro 2019.
Shortly after her resignation, DeNiro launched a lawsuit for $6 million. As per Radar Online, the actor accused his ex-employee of fraud and embezzlement.
The actor claimed Robinson used his company’s credit card for personal expenses, like paying for Uber rides, fancy dinners, dog sitting, dry cleaning, and a Pilates class. He added she also transferred 7 million Airmiles to a personal account.
However, Robinson was quit to file her own lawsuit for $12 million against the actor for hostile working conditions. She claimed DeNiro would make inappropriate comments towards her, often about gender identity. She added that she was overworked as well as underpaid during her employment.
Robinson’s legal team has also been trying to get DeNiro’s lawsuit thrown out, arguing he only filed it in retaliation against Robinson. Now, new court documents provide insight into the ongoing dispute between the two parties.
As per Fox News, Robinson’s team has reportedly provided text messages between DeNiro and other employees that show his countersuit it an attempt to “humiliate” her.
One of the text messages features an unidentified employee alleging that, "[DeNiro chose] just a random number [for the lawsuit] […] to humiliate her." They added, "It's not actually like they plan to go to court.”
"It is completely illegal for employers to retaliate against employees who complain about workplace discrimination," Robinson’s lawyer Alexandra Harwin of the firm Sanford Heisler Sharp explained to the media.
"But this is exactly what Robert De Niro did to Ms. Robinson, inventing claims to ruin her reputation and humiliate her because he knew she was going to expose his behavior," Harwin continued.
It appears Robinson’s team is arguing DeNiro’s countersuit was an attempt to intimidate her into not moving forward with her case. However, her legal team hopes this is enough evidence to have DeNiro’s lawsuit thrown out.
Fox News says that while they reached out to DeNiro’s party for comment, they haven’t head back.
