$400 Million Dollar Man: Drake Signs Massive New Deal

Drake is securing a major bag by signing a fresh contract with Universal Music Group. The Champaign Papi has inked a $400 million wide-ranging deal that covers everything from music recordings to visual media projects. UMG chairman Sir Lucian Grainge confirmed the “LeBron sized” contract on Wednesday.

Drizzy alluded to the riches he would make from the deal in some recent lyrics.

On Lemon Pepper Freestyle from his 2021 EP Scary Hours 2, the 6 God raps, “Three-sixty upfront, it all comes full circle,” which sounds like a nod to his massive deal. He directly mentions the contract on the Migos track Having Out Way, when he spits the line: “Billionaires talk to me different when they see my pay stub from Lucian Grainge.”

He also boasts about “owning masters” on The Remorse, the last track off his latest album, Certified Lover Boy.

It’s easy to see why UMG reached deep into their pockets to keep the God’s Plan singer on their roster. Drake is one of the world's best-selling music artists with over 170 million records sold— and he’s ranked as the highest-certified digital singles artist in the United States by the RIAA.

OVO was the #1 most-streamed artist of 2021 in the United States, with 8.6 billion on-demand streams. That means one out of every 131 streams was a Drake song.

Estimates usually peg Drizzy’s net worth at somewhere just shy of $200 million, which is already impressive, but that figure is sure to explode once Aub cashes the check.

By signing the blockbuster deal, Drake will be among the richest stars in Hip-Hop, along with the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay Z. He’ll have to sign a few more blockbuster deals if he plans on surpassing Kanye West’s $2 billion fortune.

The rapper already has a penchant for expensive purchases. His multi-million dollar watch collection includes pieces such as a Jacob & Co Astronomia Casino watch reportedly worth $620,000, while his $12 million car collection boasts a $750,000 Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren.

Not to mention, he has a $100 million mansion he’s dubbed “The Embassy” and a $185 million private jet designed by Luis Vuitton.
