Blac Chyna is currently suing several members of the Kardashian-Jenner family, but a judge has ruled she can no longer name Kim Kardashian in the case.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, the judge found there was a lack of evidence connecting Kim to the harm Chyna says she endured because of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. "There is no evidence that defendant Kim Kardashian took a 'responsible part' in the publication of the alleged statement by the other defendants," the judge explained.
Chyna originally filed the lawsuit in 2017 following the cancellation of Rob & Chyna. The show got the axe shortly after her very public break up with Rob Kardashian.
The reality star accused the Kardashian-Jenner family of defamation and interfering with her E! network contract to get the show cancelled. Reports have said she’s seeking at least $100 million in damages and lost future earnings.
In addition to Kim, Chyna originally named Kris Jenner and her daughters Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner in the lawsuit. But with the judge’s ruling, Chyna can only proceed to sue the latter three.
The Kardashian-Jenner’s legal team previously filed a request to have Kim dropped from the case.
"[Blac Chyna's] vague assertion on the record during [her] argument that Kim Kardashian 'ratified those statements and encouraged her sisters to make them' — without specifying how Kim Kardashian ratified them and to whom — is woefully insufficient to maintain a claim," court documents from their attorney argued.
The lawyer emphasized that a person cannot be sued for defamation based on comments another person has said.
Chyna’s team attempted to fight the request by arguing that the model “has the right to a jury trial” against Kim in order to make her case. Ultimately, however, the judge sided with the Kardashian-Jenner family on this matter.
The lawsuit remains ongoing. Many Kardashian-Jenner family members have taken the stand. Kris testified she believed Chyna was going to kill her son, while Kylie confirmed Chyna has sent her death threats.
During her own testimony, Chyna surprised many by revealing she doesn’t have a bank account and can’t remember the last year she paid taxes.
In addition to her lawsuit against Kris and her daughters, Chyna is currently suing Rob for nude photos he released of her on social media amid their break-up. The exes share a 5-year-old daughter, Dream, though they continue to argue about custody and child support.
Rob also had a lawsuit pending against Chyna up until recently. He confirmed in February he withdrew the lawsuit to spare their daughter from the ramifications of going through with a jury trial.
