Drake Cashes In On $1.2 Million With His Latest Bet
Drake is back at it again—collecting $1.2 million after betting big on Thursday’s Toronto Maple Leafs game. The certified lover boy wagered a jaw-dropping $400,000 that the first-round NHL playoff series would stretch to seven games. After Toronto lost 4-3 in overtime—Drake walked away with $1.2 million.
Drake made the bet before the NHL series started. The rapper, a huge fan of the Leafs, shared on Instagram last week that he had thrown down $400,000 on a simple bet: the series would stretch to seven games.
So, on Thursday, with the Leafs leading Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 heading into game six, Drake was put into a tough spot—if his team managed to eke out a win, he’d lose his wager and be out a whole lot of cash.
The game was a nail-biter. The Lightning won in overtime, which must have crushed the rapper, but he walked away $1.2 million richer. Had the Leafs triumphed over the Lightning, a seventh game would have never happened.
The Champagne Papi has yet to announce any wagers on Game 7.
A few months back, Drizzy bet $1.25 million that the Los Angeles Rams would emerge victorious over the Cincinnati Bengals at Super Bowl LVI. He also wagered $500,000 that L.A. Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. would have over 62.5 receiving yards and score at least one touchdown.
When all was said and done, the LA Rams came out on top, earning Drake nearly $300,000 in profit.
He might have made a small fortune on the Super Bowl, but his luck didn’t last. The God’s Plan rapper was out $275,000 after his gamble on UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal didn’t go as planned. If Masvidal could have eked out a win against Colby Covington, Drake would have walked away with $1,000,000 in winnings.
The rapper can afford to drop a little cash on gambling after his recent deal with Universal Music Group. Sources say the label reached deep into their pockets to keep Drake on the roster, allegedly singing him to a $400 million wide-ranging deal that covers everything from music recordings to visual media projects.
