Snoop Dogg Had Good Reason To Reject $2 Million Offer From Michael Jordan
There are many people who would DJ for Michael Jordan for free. So, when the public learned Snoop Dogg turned down a $2 million payday to perform at one of the basketball legend’s event, fans couldn’t understand it. But now the rapper has explained his thought process behind rejecting the offer.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Snoop Dogg detailed “one of the craziest deals” he’s ever turned down.
“It was like, $2 million to DJ for, I think it was a Michael Jordan event, and I turned it down,” Snoop elaborated. “And I never met Michael Jordan, and I want to meet him,” he continued.
However, Snoop Dogg said it was ultimately his excitement to meet the basketball icon that kept him from accepting the offer to DJ.
“I never met Michael Jordan, and I wanted to meet him — I didn't want to meet him when I'm out there DJ'ing. I want to meet him as a fan, as a boss,” he explained.
Snoop continued, “It's like, 'Mike, I love you since North Carolina. I'm a big fan of yours. I love what you do. You're one of the greatest to ever do it. Gimme a couple of secrets on how you did this. Can I get a picture with you? You wanna smoke a blunt? Hey, man, it's been real.'”
What makes the admission so surprising is that a seven-figure pay check for one salary is much higher than Snoop usually charges for performances.
Last year, a booking agency leaked a pricing sheet for some of the biggest musical talent, which claims Snoop makes anywhere between $75,000 to 100,000 USD. It adds that he’s “GENERALLY AVAILABLE.”
Other big names in the leak include Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy Travis Scott. Though his name was included in a document, a figure wasn’t given for his performances, though it did write “NO COLLEGES.”
Lil Wayne, however, has a “special college price” listed next to his name as $150,000. The documents also claims he’s “GENERALLY AVAIABLE.” Post Malone charges one of the highest performance fees, averaging anywhere between $150,000 to $200,000, while Pitbull’s price is lists as “$200,000+”
As far as meeting Michael Jordan, it appears Snoop Dogg hasn’t had the opportunity yet. But here’s to hoping these celebrities have a run-in with each other one of these days.
